A new JGC Driver

I have never owned a Jeep and have driven just a few but this newJeep Grand Cherokee Limited was on my picks list for SUV's. It has a well cut SUV appearance with a Hemi to back it up without being oversized. Jeep Grand Cherokee has the history of being a great reliable ride and I am told will only improve with the snow. My two young kids love the DVD and the NAV system is a fun gadget that (so far) has got me to various tough to find golf courses without a hitch. The Hemi is a BONUS which makes this ride a lot of fun from the drivers seat. Just realize poor gas mileage is dependent on your youthful right foot. I also feel safe in this vehicle and can see around me with ease. Bottom line: My celebrated SUV pick.

I have only had my Jeep for 3 months but compared to my 2002 Jeep (which I also like) the 2005 is a great improvement.

Great Jeep, poorly built

This is my first brand-new vehicle. I fell in love with it the moment I test drove the class! I tested the Laredo and found an excellent deal on a Limited, so I took the better options package that come with the Limited. If you're reading this review, you already know the good points of the Limited, so I'm only going to focus on the negative: 1. I have had three major leaks that needed extensive re-work of the frame welding around the tailgate. Indicative of poor welding. 2. I have had poorly installed moldings at the driver and passenger door frames; they needed re-installation. 3. Poor gas mileage. All these considered, Jeep warranty replaced and fixed all gripes quickly!

Great Vehicle

Let's start with the easy points - You don't buy this car for its gas mileage or to haul 7 passengers around. Instead, you buy this car if you want a vehicle that is safe, has phenomenal 4 wheel drive, and has a great feel to it (drivewise), which are the factors most important to me. Yes, the ceiling is low, the pillars are thick, and I would not buy a grand Cherokee without the backup sensor (which works great), but in essence this is a great vehicle and well worth considering (if you can get past the first hurdles). I've had it for less than year and reliability is yet to be seen, although no problems after 6,000 miles. This vehicle is great for what it is, but it is not for everyone.

my fourth Cherokee

Looks good, and is comfortable. The gas mileage is poor (I had the 4.7l in my previous one, which got 2 mpg better); head clearance is awful if you're 5'9" or above, and to make matters worse they removed the 6-way power seat and put in a 4-way so that you can't lower the seat height. The four wheel drive is suspect (I have gotten it stuck twice already). Jeep has sacrificed little comforts also such as removing the sun visor extensions which is annoying, but that "trail rated" badge sure is nifty. Forget changing your own oil, or doing other "minor repairs" unless you have a garage with a lift, and a degree from MIT. Somewhere jeep has lost its identity to the soccer moms. Good luck.
