Used 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 4WD 4dr SUV (4.7L 8cyl 5A) Consumer Reviews
Beware the Grand Cherokee Laredo Lemon
The engine has what appears to be a misfiring problem. Turns out that it's the air compressor not working properly, which puts an intermittent load on the engine, causing it to appear to misfire. According to two different dealerships, Jeep is aware of the problem, and has been for a very long time, but has yet to fix it. In addition, the air conditioner vent control is faulty, causing the air to come out of the heater and defroster for the first 30 seconds or so as the vent control recalibrate ... not a big deal, but just annoying. Neither dealership was able to resolve this problem either. One suggested that the two problems are related. This is definitely my last Jeep purchase, ever!
Good boy/ Bad Boy
Still a Jeep. This Jeep is absolutely awesome driving on mountain passes at night. At 30 below zero the heated seats are a real treat. The front seats are very very hard. They HURT after an hour drive. No arm rests - what were they thinking at Jeep. The back seats do not fit car seats for children; they are too up right and when your child falls asleep they slump forward and hang on the child seat straps.

WARNING DO NOT BUY
Bought this Jeep 5 months ago, have had nothing but problems, Had to rebuild front diff, bearings and now the front control module, which was not covered under the warranty... Wish i would have read more about this vehicle before i thought of buying this, i would have changed my mind....Very disappointing, Love the Style of the Jeep but very poor quality, Will trade this in soon as i can and gonna stick with Toyota or Honda.
"Rocky Mountain Edition"
Having had this vehicle for nearly 4 months. I am overall fairly satisfied with the latest design. Jeep has done a commendable job of eliminating the nauseating sea swell motions of the previous version. While I didn't pay anywhere near retail, I still think a vehicle approaching $40k (MSRP) should come with a more refined interior. The dash is far too plasticky and there are many hard surfaces throughout.
Will Never Buy Jeep Again
Bought 2005 GC used in Aug 2006. Vehicle has been nothing but problems - steering column replaced, computer system replaced (at Chrysler's cost), EGR valve replaced. Vehicle only has 46,000 miles on it. Vehicle would stall while driving, wouldn't start on first try - Jeep service dept didn't believe me when I told them it just "died" while driving. Now there's a rattling sound when slight pressure is put on gas pedal.
