Great car but gas mileage disappoints
I really like this car. It is fun to drive, handles great, is comfortable, and the storage is well optimized inside. I think the technology is very well integrated. I would have preferred real buttons and knobs instead of the touch screen controls, but it is not that bad. The low turn signals on the back are also dumb. The part that really disappoints is the gas mileage. I have 1400 miles and my fill ups are all between 27 and 30 mpg. Driving on the interstate at 70 mph with the cruise control set, I got a lousy 27.7 mpg over 50 miles. This is 6 - 8 miles below the EPA estimates. On all my other cars I am between the highway and city on my normal commute and often exceed the highway estimate on highways. Some people seem to do really well with gas mileage on this same car. I find it really hard to believe that this car is going to get significantly getter gas mileage when it gets warmer out.

Driving at night is dangerous
the headlights on the 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid Ltd are a safty hazard. Turning on the headlights create a dark shadow , triangle. When turning you can't see. Have to drive with the high beams on all of the time. If I had driven this at night, I would not have purchased it. So far Hyundai is playing dumb about the issue.

Some nice features.... bad material choices
I had a 2012 Tucson before somebody hit me on the road and totaled it. I told myslef I wouldn't get another Tucson once that car was gone because there were so many dislikes and issues with the 2012 model. Well, the 2022 update fixed everything I disliked about the exterior design and had a ton of nice features inside, which won me over in comparison to the Rav4 and CX5 I had been considering as well. The slightly larger cargo space, active safety features (which are significantly more capable than any of the other comparable models on the market that I've tried), and fairly nice tough screen are the best bits of the car. It has a pretty decent amount of power with the 2.5L and I no longer feel sluggish getting up to speed on the highway. Additionally, the cornering is surprisingly tight and it handles quite well. Now for the bad. From the start, I knew the new Tucson had a much smaller center console and subsequently, less forward storage space in vehicle, which I accepted as a reason to decrease what all I keep in the car. The sunroof has quickly started squeaking when I open it and it isn't even used all that often because the crossbars make it whistle no matter what I try. What has really frustrated me from almost the day I bought the Tucson is how poor the material quality and durability is from top to bottom. I haven't found a single thing on the car that I would call "robust." No, I'm not simply salty so I'm overplaying this. I have always been fairly conscientious about loading up my trunk and/or car in general for trips. That makes no difference here. the interior trim in the back invites any and all scratches, easily being gouged and leaving you with a trunk filled with large, visibile scrapes and scratches. The same can be said for the infotainment faceplate, screen, and doors. I lightly detailed my car one day and a barely touched the infotainment with a soft plastic vacuum head. Immediately was left with significant scratches on the plastic faceplate and screen. As for the doors, I could never even figure out what could have taken a shallow chunk out of each of my 2nd row doors, but was still unsurprised to see it happen. As for the exterior paint, the scratches and paint chipping just continues to pile up. It's gotten to the point where i feel like even touching things with my fingers causes scratches. I've always noticed these things easily, but I've never been so annoyed by them until this car. I'm an engineer at a different automaker and I can say I would be so ashamed to work at Hyundai knowing that they pack all these features into an overall weak car that looks like it's several years old after 8 months of ownership. Even the paint on the key fob has rubbed off of the edges in a matter of months from simply going in my pocket. The Tucson isn't a luxury vehicle, but it's not bargain-bin either, so I can't understand how Hyundai could choose such non-resistant materials. My dad has the new Rav4, utilizes it's cargo space nearly as much as I have, and it still looks pristine after about 4 months of use. The Tucson really is a car that looks great but is not as it appears once you look at it more closely. There are still plenty of reasons to buy the new Tuscon, but be prepared to learn to not care what it looks like. Pros: - Nice, very capable active safety features (the highway assist handles ~65% of highways in good conditions, including banking) - Bluelink and climate control features are very nice to have - Stiff steering and handling. Tight cornering - Good cargo space compared to competitors - Reclining back seats - Good features on the infotainment and decently-sized screen - Overall looks great Cons: - Less than poor material and paint quality - Small center console and front tray - Fast charge pad doesn't charge phones quickly - Android Auto wired onnection issues - Power window module has intermittent glitches

'22 Tucson Hybrid - sayonara Premium Gas!
I took ownership of a 2022 Tucson Hybrid SEL Convenience last week and am really pleased with the combination of mpg, tech, and comfort. I chose a black on black mostly due to supply, but am glad I did. My only annoyance is with the reverse notification noise. The vehicle sounds like a UPS truck when I reverse, but I understand having the alarm is an NHTSA requirement. Coming from a 2012 VW Tiguan SE, the tech on the new vehicle is equivalent to going into frozen animation in the 1970's and defrosting today. The wireless Carplay is a great feature, as is the extra pep the turbo provides when you kick it into Sport mode. I'm glad that I have a warranty that makes sense, as the VW turbo failed at 3.5 years, right after the warranty expired (intake flap). Das prior purchase was pretty close to a lemon. I was not sad to see it go. I'm excited to see what the future holds for this vehicle.

Looks great, but has issues
I have a 2022 Tuscan blue and recently it started leaking oil. Taken to shop to find out I have a leaking head gasket. This is not good for a vehicle with 6100 miles. Warranty is great and local dealer has been good so far fixing issue. Also the vehicle lacks power, even though it's fun to drive.
