Where the Tucson missed the mark
Yes, it has a new radical look and you may love it or hate it. The vehicle is over-engineered with features that sometimes either don't work or make no sense. The proximately door locks make no sense. Try drying the car after a car wash and find the door locking and unlocking. Or go out to the car to grab something and find that somehow the doors locked themselves and you do not have your key fob. Speaking of which, if the key fob is near the iPhone it disables. Don't dare put the fob on the same side of your body as your phone, and don't put the key fob in your purse with your phone. Touch-sensitive door locks sometimes just don't work forcing you to dig the key fob out of your pocket or purse to lock the door. Try doing this holding a baby or with an armful of groceries The odometer will reset each time car is turned off. If you are getting reimbursed for mileage this can be costly. The rear directional signal is in the rear bumper. I did not even realize this until I was behind a similar Tucson. Most people will pull up behind your car at a red light and not see the directional signal. Tailgaters also do not see it. This is a ridiculous design flaw. There is no sunglasses holder in the ceiling. ?? Are you kidding me. I have had a sunglass holder in every car since the late 1980s. The infotainment system usually required 2-3 tries to activate, such as changing the radio station, which by the way cause you to take your eyes off the road multiple times. Apple car play works intermittently. The power is lacking and there needs to be an option for a turbo or bigger engine. Especially noticeable starting on a hill from a dead stop. These "quirks" are deal breakers for my next vehicle when the lease runs out. The door locks are infuriating to say the least. UPDATE: I think that the newly designed Hyundai TUSCON is similar to getting married to a beauty queen for looks only to find out later she/he is bat guano crazy. Example: Why does she lock me out of my car. But not always. I park in the garage and forget something in the car. The keys are in the house and I find the car has locked itself. WHAT??? And then sometimes when I get out of the car and the setting is to unlock doors when put it park, but sometimes the back doors remained locked. No mention of this in the owners manual- but doing research has revealed some software genius thought that was a good idea if no one else was in the car. WHAT? I have to open and close another door to prevent this from happening. Rear directional lights placed in the bumper! Therefore if you are in bumper to bumper traffic and wish to change lanes the car behind you cannot see the directional signal. With all the gimmicky light in the front grill and they decide to hide the rear directional. Another dangerous feature. The touch screen is always dirty and usually requires 2-3 tries to execute. This is dangerous and distracts from driving. Why no sunglass holder in the ceiling. I thought all cars had these. But just like marrying that super good looking model you find out strange things. Lane control resets itself even when turned off. To me this feels like someone is pulling the steering wheel. I like to drive in the outer 2/3 of the lane on a undivided road to avoid the someone in a TUSCON drifting unto my lane while playing with touch control buttons that don’t always respond. Each time I turn it off on the highway it mysteriously turns back on.?? The acceleration in poor and unresponsive. When I first saw her I thought WOW that must be something to take for a ride. But it turns out it like log rolling. Dangerous pulling out into traffic. Some hard dials should not be a luxury, like a volume dial and not hold a soft touch key that can’t find the right volume without multiple tries. Outside door lock/unlock is absurd in that you cannot have a cell phone near the key fob for the touch control to work. Like if the phone and fob are in the same pocket or in a purse. Another genius software designed to drive me crazy. And forget about it if is is raining, snowing or you are wearing glove. Better do digging for that fob. Hyundai is like a D3 college team that wants to compete in D1 but the coach hasn’t had the experience of playing with the grown ups. In summary it is a wannabe that just compete with Toyota, Mazda, or Nissan. But for the first time ever, I traded in after 30 months and the trade in was worth more than the payoff. I submit this is due to supply issues.

spare tire hybrid SEL
disappointed that they only provide a flat tire kit for the Hybrid Tucson SEL but if you take out the entire foam insert under the cargo floor there is an indentation for a full size tire. looks like it would take a 17 inch tire and maybe more ? didn't look close enough to see what kind of hardware one might need to secure the tire. might/probably will need to use the upper of the two tier positions for the cargo area floor.

Smart choice
I had purchased a Ford Bronco Sport and discovered while it looks great, it has so many problems and its build quality is highly questionable. Ended up selling it and got the Tucson Hybrid. Could not be happier. Test drove/researched its competition and IMO, this drives the best, has the best warranty. Its competitors are resting on their laurels and while you can't really go wrong with other choices...they're boring and getting dated. Hyundai is pushing boundaries and creating really good products these days. Highly recommend.

2022 Tucson Limited broken air conditioning
After considering several cars like the Volvo XC40 and the BMW X1, I went with the Tucson Limited due to the outstanding price and features offered. I have previously owned two Hyundai vehicles, and they were outstanding. I have driven my new 2022 Tucson Limited for all of 2 weeks before the air conditioning failed. I live in the Deep South, air conditioning is a MUST. The dealership does not have the equipment to diagnose the problem, and has no idea when they will get it. No offer of a loaner car, very poor communication from the service department. If it weren’t for the intervention of our great salesman, I don’t think I would have ever heard anything from the service department. I am not relishing the idea of making payments on a car with 250 miles on it that already has major problems, that cannot be fixed.

Very spotty CarPlay performance
If music and maps are important to you do NOT get this vehicle. Have to reset CarPlay multiple times each trip. Brought it to dealer and they brushed it off saying there was nothing they could do.
