Problems Galore! **Rebuilt Warranty**
My family bought a new 2006 Hyundai Tucson GLS 2.7L 4 speed Automatic in the fall of 2006. We have had it maintained every time at or before 3000 miles or 3 months (It has under 50,000 miles as of now, fall of 2011). When it was 3 years and approx. 30,000 it started having significant problems with the 4WD, transmission, and power steering. Now it has been sitting at the dealer for a month (NO JOKE!) for a ***REBUILT*** transmission to be put in and rear struts that recently started leaking. So far the dealer has not done anything to the car. We will never buy Hyundai again. RAV4 is the replacement SUV!
An Honest Review
I purchased my Tucson back in May 05. Have had several problems once i hit the 30k mile mark. The dealership is awful when it comes to repairs. This car is built very poorly. i have a small "swipe dent" below the door frame and to replace it you wold have to take the whole side panneling off and would cost around $4,000! oh, and parts! NOT CHEAP! just to have my bumper replaced after a small fender bender was about $1500compared to other cars at now more than $800 for bumper. the interior is not roomy or comfortable. unusual stuff has been breaking like crazy (armrest panel, shifter, steering wheel) like others are saying i would say it is very noisy and gas mpg is awful!don't buy a hyaundai!

Electrcal Nightmare..
Since purchase I have had nothing but minor problems with this vehicle. The dealer acts like any failure is a complete surprise. Currently am experiencing an electrical problem. Battery goes dead after 3 days not running the vehicle. Dealer has replaced the battery with no positive results. Problem still exists. Inquiries about solutions to the problem have fell on dead ears. No response from Jenkins or Hyundai USA. Hyundai acts like the problem doesn't exist.. Be assured that it does and I will not rest until it is resolved.
sun roof
if your tuscon has a sun roof, check it out when it rains. there is a rubber drip rail around the window to catch water.Seal may leak.
What a piece of Korean junk!
Brakes went out under warranty. But by 58000 miles they were out again. ESC and ABS lights and system recall taken care of and four years later same problem so we had to pay over $600 for a new brake light switch and a new G-force sensor. They had to pull the entire dashboard out to get to the G-Force sensor. Over $2000 for fluids change and belts and a bad water pump. Lower control arms went a few years ago ... that was a real treat replacing those myself. Battery went under warranty. Despite wheel balance and alignment the car vibrates under normal driving conditions. Underside would have rusted through had I not been keeping up with the rust. Drive timing rings are ready to crack.
