This car is awesome!!!
I just bought this car last night and I love it already! This is my first stick shift and it only took a couple of hours to learn. After first, it's really smooth. I would suggest anyone looking for an exciting car to get this one! Have fun!
Stew's review
As you would expect from the way it looks, the car exciting to drive even at the entry level 2.0 engine. For a single man in the later half of his 20's at the time of purchase, it fit me like a glove. The smooth and quickly coustomized interior became better to sit in than my own living room. I still find myself looking at it out the window of where ever I park it at and comment on how good it looks.

great value
I have owned this car for about 3 months now. I never plan to race anyone so 0-60 really doesn't matter to me. It handles great, looks fanastic, the sound system is the best I have ever experienced. I took it on a 2000 mile road trip two weeks after I bought it and nearly had to have the grin surgically removed from my face. The car turned heads, got better than advertised mileage and performed like a champ.
it's a great car
It is a great looking car. Drives better than I thought it would.
Why get a celica or cougar
This is the best car that I have owned. For the price I don't think I could get leather, power everything and even a foctory subwoofer with any other car.
what can you ask?
Good Looks, Fun to Drive, Power, performance and look add-ons outher just have to look a bit.
Love My Tib
I often wondered why only high-priced vehicles had the little extras that made you take notice --- that made you say "Ooooh! Nice!! What is this?" Why wouldn't an automaker offer some of the same "luxuries" to the average consumer? I had reached the point where a vehicle was purely utilitarian. Then - -- I found the Hyundai Tiburon! And now I love driving again! I am sooooo impressed with the quality, styling and details in this car. Hyundai gives you a great bang for your buck! It looks good - it feels good! It's fun to drive! And at a price I can afford! (The admiring looks and comments are pretty nice too!)
Red GT V6 6-spd
I loved it from the moment I saw it...when I test drove it, I knew I had to drive it home that day! The styling is superb, and I like the overall feel of the car. Fit and finish is what I've found on my previous Hyundai vehicles...excellent.
I love this car!
I gave up a 95 Grand Prix SE coupe for this car and I don't regret it. It is tighter inside but much more fun to drive. It is still in the break-in period so I haven't pushed it too hard yet but the V6 is fast and the car handles well. I am 47 years old, the kids are out of the house and I didn't want to drop 50k on a Vette.
complete package
it's got some giddy-up to it. the response to acceleration, braking, and steering is unbelievable. and the car is very quiet for so much power. beats the rsx type s and celica gts in all catagories. couldn't be happier
Love my Tib
Drove every car in this class...much more pickup than ANYthing in this price range..gets more eye than any vehicle I've ever had...Did 145 easily on Montana interstate...corners like a much more expensive sports car.. great sound system, feels like a cockpit inside, lots of hatch space...best warranty in class...very responsive and proactive service from Hyundai, who wants to step up into Toyota/Honda territory as far as reputation...
Great Car
Very Nice Car... WOuld Recomend to anyone
A Mirror of the Past
The first thing that appealed to me was it reminded me of the 1986, 300 Z I once owned. Then, after I drove it time stopped. It drives like a dream, slipping in and out of traffic and giving me the power I need. No longer do I feel I need to buy a $30,000 car to be satisfied. The dealership I bought it from is great and all the employees are very helpful. And you can't beat the warranty! When I first got the car, not a week went by when I would be stopped and asked, "What kind of car is that"? People would pull up beside me and just stare! Even my 20 year old son thinks it looks cool. Love the car and would not hesitate purchasing another one in the future.
A pleasure to drive hard or soft
Clean, powerful, fun, solid, fast, great brakes. I love this car and feel it is worth more than what I paid for it. It is a blast to drive and can also turn a few heads. I hope the add-on accessory guys get wind of it and put more product out there.
GoodCar
This is a really good car if I can keep it out of the shop. If it was not in the shop all the time I would give the car a 10 across the board. This car is really fun to drive.
Tight car
this car is tight to have for a high schooler
Awesome!!
Fun to drive, and sporty!!
Great car to drive
I bought my Tiburon eleven months ago and have already put 19000 miles on it. It's a lot of fun to drive, and I haven't have any mechanical problems. There was a recall on the rear brake tubing but the newly produced ones haven't been affected. The car is perfect for someone on the shorter side, like myself, but if you're over 5'10" it's probably not a good idea. My 6' boyfriend has trouble seeing under the headliner, and there is not a lot of head room, or leg space on the passenger side. Overall, if you want a small car with lots of style and great reliability, the tiburon is a great choice.
travelin nurse great car
i travel all over and this car is not only fun to drive, but is so very comfortable, and has alot of space for my luggage. it has a beautiful exterior and interior design, and people consistantly look it over, and some ask what kind of car it is. i'm proud to drive it!
GREAT SHARK!
Simply a great car. Fell in love with it when I first test drove it
Fun!
I love my Tiburon, it's a wonderful car. I get complimented a lot on the looks of it. I have never had so many. My car has been with me for 3 years, and despite a slow start with some recalls and the sunroof recall it's been running beautifully. I would recommnend it to anyone who wants a cute, fun sporty car to zip around in!
Lemon
I bought this because it was so cute! I now know more about cars than I ever thought I would. This car has had almost everything go wrong. Its not built to put 100 miles on it daily.
Solid car
You won't get a nicer car for under $20k. That's $2-3k less than a similarly optioned Celica or Eclipse V6. And it's LOADS easier to drive than the anemic Celica GT-S which requires revving to at least 5000rpm just to get power. The gearing on the 6M is way too short. 3400rpm at 80mpg? That's too high. That may be why the gas mileage is so poor (but you can fill with 87 octane, unlike premium only for the Eclipse V6 or either base or GTS Celica). The flywheel is a tad too heavy, but I'm really nit-picking. I really like the action on the clutch and the shifter. The spacing is perfect. It really promotes fast and accurate shifting.
Good car but be aware
Car is awesome for the money, but watch out for common problems such as the power windows, power locks, and especially the clutch (mine just went at 41,000miles) which is VERY expensive to replace correctly. Other than that the car is a nice car with unmatched features and a blast to drive. You'll definatly turn heads and be asked "what kinda car is that?" cuz it is so unique. be prepared to face clutch and minor electrical issues inevitably though. Also make sure to have all season tires put on the car if you are using it year round. NOT a winter car!
My second car
We where shopping for a second car. First is a Minivan and an old 93 concorde beater when we stumbled onto the Hyandai Tiburon. I think its the most bang and fun for the buck.
new owner loves it
I waited years for a car like this that I could afford without breaking the bank.
2003 Tiburon GT
Let's face it, the GT V6 Tiburon is a total winner for the price. It looks great, and if you like compliments abount the way your machine looks everyone loves the Tiburon style. Plenty of power, great sound system and my daughter loves it too. The ride after a few thousand miles smoothed out like a luxury car while still handling like a sports car.The only down side in my opinion is the paint job. I thought it was only my car, but lemmon peel is something most of them have. I can live with it considering all the other pluses ++++. How can you beat the 100,000 mile warranty. Yes, I will keep my red GT Tiburon. I really enjoy driving it.
Great Little Car
The new Tiburon is everything this car should have been back in its introduction (1999). Peppy power with great styling and look. A load of fun to try and a quick head-turner. For the price, it is hard to beat.
Fun car, hard to get parts
I just bought mt Tiburon, when i test drove it it had a bad wheel bearing that the dealer replaced for me (cost them 600 bucks)but it took couple of days for Hyundai to get the part to the Toyota dealer. Finally got it home and the Moonroof went out and Toyota's service department being awesome said they would fix that to....on them!at the moment i am still waiting to get my car due to Hyundai shipping not only the wrong part to fix the moonroof but a USED part at that, so right now i'm wondering if i just got myself into a money pit.Good news is that it is the 6 speed with the factory clutch still (crosses fingers).Only bad thing I can say about the car right now is tring to see out the back
i won with hyundai
hyundai is the best car regardless of the cost it is the best car on the road
Cute and affordable
I love my Tiburon! It handles wonderfully, and I have never driven a car quite like it. The interior is awsome, it is so comfortable (then again i am a small person 5'4). I wouldn't recomend this car to someone who is really tall, but for me it is the best car in it's price range. I just can't say enough wonderful things about this car. The biggest plus though to me was the side air bag, the fact that they were standard, assured me that this was probably a really safe car.
Well What Can I Say?
I first bought the hyundai accent 9 months ago and was unhappy. I traded it in and I couldnt be happier. I bought the Tiburon GT V6 in silver and I love it. The ride is excellant, horsepower is moderate and the features are amazing. For $20,000 you cant go wrong. Not even to mention that you are covered for ten years.
Hyundai's Hat Trick
People have always looked upon Hyundai as a throw away car, something just to get you around. The 2003 Tiburon GT V6 is going to change the nameplate's image. The Tiburon GT V6's E.T at 15.3 sec moving 90.8 MPH, out does many in it's class such as Civic Si (15.8/ 88.1), SVT Focus(15.8/ 90.6), and Eclipse GT(15.5/ 89.9) in the 1/4 mile, while finishing only a few ticks off the Acura RSX type-S'(15.1 /94.7). (Motor Trend). The car leaves only one thing to be desired: go-faster parts that will not void the awesome warranty.
Car is so cool
So far I love this car I am hoping they come out with a lot of body and performance parts for it, just to make it even more fun
A GREAT RIDE
This car is definitely a great ride in all aspects of a sporty coupe. The handling is just awesome! So much torque is assisting the power output of the 2.7 V6 engine that's potent. Looks of this car is just amazing.. I think it's one of the best looking sport compacts out there. No wonder this new tiburon made it to the list of '8 Great Rides' award given annually by Sport Compact Car magazine. So many options for under 20,000 dollars. Great Styling, Great Performance, and Great Dependability all comes together in this car.
Alot of fun for the buck!!!
I think the tiburon is a great buy for the money. It handles GREAT,has good power, and looks really good.I have owned my Tiburon for a little over a year and would buy another one in a heartbeat.I havent had any problems w/ it since I bought it.Horsepower is good (not great)but compared to other cars in its class, check out their price! With a few extras, this car would keep up and you still would have spent less and have a reliable, sporty vehicle.
Wow!
More fun for the money than anything else out there!
Fun To Drive
The Hyundai Tiburon is an absolute hoot to drive! I own a 2000 Chevrolet Camaro Z28, and the Tiburon is just as fun to drive. The car handles well and has enough power to satisfy. The exterior is the best part. The styling elicits questions from the curious. My only complaints are the over-boosted steering and the spoiler. The handling is so good on this car that it is a shame to have such numbing power steering. Also, while I don't mind the spoiler, I think the car would look cleaner without it.
Used to HATE Hyundai
I took the car for a test drive and i was very sceptical. First i love the exterior styling, one of the hottest looking cars out there. Second i was impressed with the interior material quality. Not overly busy with chinsey crap. Material feels sturdy and stable. I drive alot and hate being in traffic with a manual transmission so i opted for the Sportronic automatic transmission. This option is so much fun. It gives me the ability to shift manually when i choose to do so. I think the single factor that caused me to purchase this car is the price.
Take a good look, BUT DON'T BUY!!!!!!!
Ive had my tibby for 6200 miles and about 1/2 of those are from trips to the dealer for servicing. Watch for numerous recalls from a car that is full of defects! Spoiler light assembly, driver side window motor, sunroof, paint on door sills, gas cap leakage, window seals, tweeter blown, plastic sub cover in trunk may crack! BEWARE-THIS CAR WILL DISAPPOINT YOU IF YOU DON'T KEEP THESE ITEMS IN MIND! Ive had other problems w/ leather seat flaw @ purchase, plastic doorsill damage and grease on roof after 1 of the servicing. The HORSEPOWER was lied about by 11 horse in their ads.
Not it is not a ferrari :)
Great car took me 6 months of research to decide on the Tiburon. I looked at every model comparable model that Mitsu, Toyo, Honda, Acura make. For the price know one can touch it. To the people who want to know about the horse power it is 170 at the engine crank. They may advertise 181 but the papers you sign at purchase point states it at170. Good stereo clear treble strong deep bass (not thumping). Gas mileage is pretty good best I have seen is 29mpg and this was doing 65mph on the highway with ac on. Handling is outstanding at high speeds as well as city driving. As I feel the build and quality of my car (so far) is on par with anything Honda builds.
big bang for the buck
I love this car. my friends can't believe what i paid for it. got rid of my suv to put some fun in driving again. not the greatest headroom and trying to back out of a parking space is a "take a chance" experience what with the limited bisibility The radio/cd/cassette is amazing for the price and the warantee can't be beat.
My view
The structure of this model is outstanding. A week after I bought the vehicle i was in a severe accident. I was at a dead stand still when i was rear ended by a Hyundai Santa Fe who was doing about 40 mph. and the back window didn't even crack. Although there was almost 10K in damage done to the car, it was rebuilt and looks like new.
Bad Paint, Ponies Mis-stated
I initially enjoyed the shark but have been very disappointed in paint quality, lots of chipping and the recently disclosed "mis-stated" horsepower. Although I still think the car is attractive and fun to drive, I have questioned its performance due to the break-in period. Now I know it was not in my head. I based by buying decision on the power ratings and may have made another choice if the information was accurate. There has been no disclosure on any mis-stated torque ratings. I would love to hear from other buyers.
2003 Tib
So far, this vehicle has exceeded my expectations in most every way. With 27,000 miles on it already, I have had no problems to speak of. Performance is great (for the price); regularly tempting me to peel the tires and redline at every stop light or onramp.
Outrageous car!!!
Hyundai has done it! The new 2003 Tiburon is not heard of, at this price at least. It is nice and FAST, and with a few inexpensive modifications it is even faster! Everyone asks what I drive, I comment just a Hyundai, see the faces of disgust, but then I show them the car and give them a ride, the faces change and they want one now! I say get it if you want it, who cares if it's Hyundai, you will be surprised!!
Tiburon Or Bust
I put this car through it's paces a couple weeks ago. Took a drive over the Cajon pass into California's High Desert. I was in 6th gear all the way, and the car was hardly working. Stearing was precise and effortless. Go ahead and spend 5 or 7k more for a Toyota, or Mitubishi.
sweet
It's an awesome car. I love the exterior design, hyundai did a great job. Build quality is extremely high, no more crappy hyundais. Only complaint, a little bland inside.
Shiny on the outside, Junk on the inside
Hyundai, a company that hasn't built anything to last. Yeah, the car has warrenty beyond belief, it needs it so that the buyer doesn't go postal on the dealership. under powered, poor power- trains, HEAVEY and sluggish. when my SUV takes my bud's Tibby, you know somethings wrong. it does have styling, the dash looks tacky. i rated this car for its worth after the warrenty is over. NOTHING!
Swimming with sharks
I compared this car to the Acura RSX, the Chevy Camaro, Toyota Solara, and Honda Accord Coupe. The shark has better handling than any of the above. Better 0-60, 20-60, and 0-40 times than all but the Camaro. The ride is rough, and the interior is a joke. The dash is obnoxious, and the stereo system is average. This car is the prettiest of the bunch, but looks aren't everything. It's real hard to see out of the right side window when making turns. The mirror acts like a wall. The headlamps restrict night vision. Finally, it has NO crash test ratings. The NHSTA hasn't tested it. So technically, you could be purchasing a 20,000 coffin. It's a risk.
