after 7000 miles mostly freeway, transmission is completely at a lose finding correct gear at any steeper hill or bridge. you will Not get advertises mileage at highway [70mph] speeds. interior is noisy back seat area.no jack for you to plug flat tire. you must use fill kit which will result in very costly bill to replace tire and pressure sensor. interior & exterior very nice. unless you drive constantly sirius radio not worth price. rather have CD instead. costly to have pay toplay radio that sits in drive way. still like this vehicle more that the Prius we had. maybe after another 6 K miles will get used to it. would recommend to buy, we live in Florida so flat land little hills for transmission to go nuts. not a good buy for hilly travel. good luck whatever your choice. Ioniq 2019, not what I expected

Bad Experience overall - Ioniq 2019, repetitive suspension issue, column shaft replacement, and transmission replacement. This is the third time my car has to go for a warranty issue. 1. October 2019, an issue with the suspension with less than 6K miles and in less than 6 months. Defective right rear shock, that was replaced. 2. March 2020, second service, again an issue, this time with a defective speaker that was replaced 3. February 2021 (three more issues on my third visit) Two major issues identified, with 21K miles. Steering wheel column/shaft replaced. The transmission will need to be replaced. Due to a grinding noise upon deceleration. It sounds terrible. - and, again the same suspension issue in the rear back with a popping noise coming from the rear right, that technicians and service team hasn't been able to identify the problem. I am not happy at all with my purchase, when I took the decision to buy a new car was because I didn't want to deal with stress, discomfort, and worries about my family's safety. I don't think this is normal for a car with less than 2 years of use, and less than 22K miles.

I've now driven my Ioniq about 5000 miles. I do mostly city/suburban driving on some flat and some hilly conditions. The mileage is great....averaging 58 - 61mpg overall. It is quiet, has enough power at sea level to merge into traffic safely, and it stops quickly and well from 50mph to stop in about 120 feet. The seats are roomy and comfortable and the instruments are easy to read and well placed. The trim that I have is Limited, so it is fully loaded with sensors and driver seat adjustments that meet the average driver's needs. It does not have an automatic opener for the rear hatch, which is probably the one thing I would add to the vehicle, but overall it is a really good choice for a hybrid vehicle.

Very Enjoyable Vehicle

I have been wanting a more economical vehicle for several years, but did not care for the style and ride of what was offered. Then I read about the Hyundai line of Ioniq vehicles and was impressed. I did much research and talking with several Hyundai dealers and finally made a deal for a white Ioniq Limited with the Ultimate package. I have had the Ioniq for almost a month now and have not been disappointed. I am averaging 50 MPG which I find very good for a brand new vehicle. On one road trip it managed 62 MPG. With a hybrid, one need to learn to drive differently to achieve good MPG. Some say the seats are not comfortable, but I am 210 pounds and I think they are just fine. I also think the handling and braking are good - not a sports car - but good. I am in my mid 70's but the road noise seems about normal for a vehicle of this class. The Ioniq is solid going over rail road tracks and bumps. It has most all of the creature comforts of vehicles costing twice as much. Three things I wish it had: rain sensing wipers, power passenger seat, and a hood that did not need a rod to hold it up. With the front seats in the position I would normally have them there is ample room in the rear seat for passengers. And of course it is loaded with all the safety and tech stuff, like lane keeping and departure warning, backup warning and camera, rear cross traffic alert, blind spot alert, adaptive cruise, dynamic bending headlights, navigation, Android Auto, Bluelink, Infinity Audio, memory driver's seat. The rear luggage area has plenty room for four passenger's luggage and because it is a hatchback it has more room than sedan of this size with a trunk. There is also some storage space under the luggage area floor. The Ioniq comes with an emergency puncture repair kit, but I ordered a space saver spare kit which fits nicely under the luggage compartment floor. The dealer experience, Crain Hyundai, of Conway AR, was the best. I told them what I wanted and they got it. There was no pressure to buy an extended warranty or accessories and it was delivered with a full tank of fuel.

Electronics fail over and over

I've had my 2020 Ioniq for a year and a half now, and I've had nothing but problems with the electronics. My infotainment system and backup camera have each been replaced twice already (the front proximity sensors also failed), and it's going in for service for another problem with the infotainment system in a couple of weeks. It's been in the shop half a dozen times or so and Hyundai is supposed to let me know this week about buying it back. I really do love this car. It's beautiful and it drives well, but has never gotten the EPA rated 55mpg; it hovers around 42mpg, which is what my 2008 Prius was getting when it was 12 years old (and that car was solid - no issues). It's a beautiful car, but one shouldn't have all these issue with a brand new vehicle. I may get a hybrid SUV, instead, but I'm reluctant to consider another Hyundai. I may even have trouble getting a [non-Hyundai] dealership to let me trade my Ioniq in because of the issues it's had (one already told me that), so Hyundai had better buy it back!
