Love the redesigned 2023 Elantra

Love the new color Electric Shadow, the redesigned exterior with new grill on front of car, the sleek sides of the car, redesigned interior with sort of 3D feel to infotainment screen separate from the screens for the odometer, gas gauge, mileage etc. The new bins on either side of interior trunk along with cargo net, hook on trunk for hanging things, first aid kit, Do not really care for positioning of cargo net because it gets caught in everything I have to put in trunk. Also do not care for newly added bar between driver & front passenger seat. It seems out of place & confining to interior of front section of car.

Still a great car for the money

Love new redesigned 2023 Elantra from the new color Electric Shadow to sporty new grill on front of car, sleek looking stylish sides of car & great back of car. Also love redesigned interior from 3D effect of infotainment screen & its separation from odometer, gas gauge, etc. Also start button & heat/air, radio etc knobs located differently than my 2020 Elantra that I traded for the 2023. Love the cargo bins, first aid kit & hanger in trunk. Do not like loss of pull down console in back seat that was on the 2020 model which had cup holders that were great when carrying around my grandchildren in car seats, Also do not like 2023 model seat is not 60/40 split anymore. The whole back seat drops down now instead of option to drop one or both. Also do not like bar separating driver & front passenger seat. It seems out of place, not stylish addition.

Great Car for What It Is

I've had the Elantra for about 2000 miles. Like the title says, great car for what it is. An inexpensive commuter car. Easy on the eyes, easy on the wallet. The pros are the looks, the cost, the MPG and the insane amount tech you get for the price. The cons are the engine isn't terribly engaging and I don't like CVTs. Also, the interier is one place you really feel the lower cost, but it's ok. My biggest complaint, is that it comes with really cheap wipers that were screeching across the windshield like nails on a chalkboard from day one - even when it rained. I had to replace them within the first month. All in all, very happy with the purchase. I plan to drive it until my 11 year old gets his license and then he can have it.

My 5th new Hyundai

I previously purchased four Sonatas and love the Hyundai product, especially the BlueLink feature that allows remote actions from an app on my Smartphone. I decided to downsize to the Elantra. It is very easy to handle, giving me the feeling of good control. The basic model is equipped with many standard features that were on my upgraded 2019 Sonata. The only negative is currently there is limited inventory which hinders getting a great deal, so be prepared to pay more, even if the car is smaller.

The long and the short of it

2023 Hyundai Elantra N Line 4dr Sedan (1.6L 4cyl Turbo 7AM)

I, for one, had one of the first original N Line models made for the US, a 2020 Elantra GT N Line which is an upgraded Elantra Sport. That car was nearly perfect. It had the Technology package that included the panoramic sunroof and ventilated seats. Over the course of the past two years, I followed the Elantra N and it’s N Line counterparts, a slightly used (under 500 miles) 2022 Veloster N as well as the updated Honda Civic Si. I also considered the Mazda 3 Turbo and the new Subaru WRX. After test driving all of them, this was my conclusion on each: Elantra N: Excellent car. A bit too boy racer for my taste. The brace in the trunk while useful hinders it’s practicality. No deals were to be had on this car and my insurance on that car would be insane. Mazda 3: Simply beautiful but lacked that “it” factor. Great interior furnishings but the blind spot on the hatchback was a bit much. The sedan is nice however it doesn’t tickle the same as the hatchback. Both were less spacious. Subaru WRX: Not the prettiest car but what Subaru ever was (exception being the BRZ). It performed well, my insurance was reasonable and there were plenty available. Reasons why I didn’t bite? Gas mileage was abysmal, little safety tech unless you got the SPT/CVT and the cargo space. Honda Civic Si: A better car than the last one. Nicer interior too. However, dealer markups were crazy (still are). Piped in exhaust sounds? Slower than the last generation? Hondas are well built and have a great aftermarket yet it wasn’t enough for me to buy that car much less pay $3K-$5K markup to get one. Veloster N: Similar to the comments about the Elantra N. The insurance was cheaper, though. However the dealer was asking $36K. It was considered a used car and the interest rates on it were considerably higher that those of a new car. The Elantra N Line struck the right balance of performance, looks, tech, practicality, price and VALUE for my money. Out the door I paid just under MSRP before taxes. Because I bought it on the last day of the month, I was able to negotiate as well. All the dealer add-ons were taken off the price of the vehicle (about $1600). Besides, nitrogen is in the air of ALL tires. I’m pleased with my purchase. I do miss not having cooled seats for summers and not having that big panoramic roof but I also don’t miss not having blind spot monitoring, which this car has. Looking at that large fully digital dash and upgraded infotainment screen only increases my love for this purchase. I think I’ve said enough.
