Used 2001 Hyundai Elantra Consumer Reviews
Comfort & Reliability
This car was my life saver. I had previously owned klunker after klunker and finally decided to buy a newer car. The warranty was what primarily drew my attention. 100,000 miles or 5 years on a slightly used 2001 Hyundai Elantra. The car looked gorgeous and had plenty of room for a compact car. I drive long distance all the time and was happy to finally have a reliable car. No more braking down and having to call AAA. The car runs beautifully. And because I drive long distance, I've had time to experience the comfort and roominess of the interior. Just recline the seat and relax. I love my Elantra!
Good Value
I purchased my 01 Elantra in early 2002. To date, I've had no significant repairs, and have sunk very little money into the car. It's not the fastest, greenest, most luxurious, or best performing car on the block. But it is very reliable, and has just enough comfort, safety, mpg, and performance to make it passable. If you're looking for a great value, and reliability in a commuter car, this is it. Nothing fancy, but it does the job, without time in the shop. ( Which can be a huge deal if your husband needs to borrow your car all the time because his Saab is in the shop every week!)

Control arm?? Not
100,000.00 miles nothing covered, car has 74,000 control arm broke??? Not covered, pulled out transmission, not covered. Don't buy these cars the warranty is a joke, hey they let you talk to a consumer advocate, huh right they consume your money. This was my second Hyundai first one lasted 225,000 miles and was running well when I sold it. This is my last Hyundai and I tell everyone I talk to to avoid these cars now. They changed something, and no longer need loyal consumers. Stay away from these cars.
Don't buy this car
I have had nothing but problems with this car from the day I purchased it, BRAND NEW. The alignment was way out of whack the minute I drove it off the lot. Also, I failed inspection, on a BRAND NEW CAR, because the right rear brake wasn't up to code. A week later, the pulley for my power steering just fell off and I lost control of the car. Luckily, I was only doing 30mph. The pulley, again, on a brand new car, was stripped. Now I am having problems with the rotors, and the hose for the coolant was corroded and had to be replaced. The car is only 3 years old. I am sorry, but this was a horrible buy and would never recommend this car to anyone.
don't do it
I bought the elentra for the warrenty. No other company offers one as good. It's burning more gas then what the sticker displays. I already had to take it in for sevice twice one was the check engine light came on.. it was fault spark plug wires which ended messing up the plugs. i did the plugs myself they did the wires. around 20000 miles i start feel a lost in power. so i went to dealership to tell them i thing the clutch is slipping. they "look" at it and agree with me and say i need a new clutch, but i have to pay for it
