This ridgeline RTLE is exactly what I want in a truck. Comfort, intuitiveness, functionality, and great looks overall. That and the Honda reliability, does not get any better than this!

Almost The Perfect Vehicle

I've had my new 2021 RTL - E for about a month. I think all of the safety and convenience features are excellent, but I wish there was a beeping noise when backing up. I know there is a backup camera but with all of the safety bells and whistles, you would think a backup beeper would have been installed. The large rear compartment, bed speakers, swing out tailgate, and in bed trunk out weigh what the Tacoma can do for me, but... raise the Ridgeline 3'', put a couple skid plates underneath, and offer a turbo or a bit larger engine option and this vehicle couldn't be kept on the lot. It's a terrific vehicle for an active lifestyle as it is, but I can dream can't I?

Excellent all-rounder

Have been using 2021 Ridgeline RTL-E for more than a year - about 6K miles driven. Love the new vehicle design and its on road manners. The ride is super smooth even compared to heavy weights like F-150. Interior space in the front is very good. The fact that bed is almost flat for rear seats gives you room to walk in the back if seats raised. This is a very practical approach for storing real world items like 4+ suitcases if you have to absolutely rainproof them or a truck load of costco items or whatever. The truck bed is accessible for me with a height of 5'9". But a bit difficult towards center unless I climb on tires. The fact that bed is almost flat (most other trucks have wheel wells raised significantly above the bed) has significant real world advantage when you are dealing with items like lawn mower or tools or various machinery. Has enough tie down points in the bed, but their fixed orientation can sometimes be challenging depending on what I am trying to tie down. Though a great concept, I am finding less and less practical use with the under bed storage area since it is very difficult to access if you have heavy items on top. And most of the times, it is an after thought at least for me to access items from that area (like rachets / blankets etc) or put items there. But I will take that convenience any day vs not having it at all. I am not at all impressed with Econ mode or auto idle feature for fuel savings. It is affecting my experience as a sporty driver. But if you don't mind a 1+ sec delay with starting from complete stop, you should gain on mileage with those features. For me, with econ turned off and additional exterior accessories fitted (side rails and roof rails) and driving slightly on the sportier side, I am getting about 18.5 - 19.5 avg for mostly short distance driving. I am sure that number would cross 20 mpg for long distance driving / highway driving even with Econ turned off and sporty driving. I think it is a very good mileage number. I would definitely recommend Black Edition if you can afford since it adds elegance to inside plus more usb ports and 400W power from truck bed. All of those have become standard convenience features nowadays. I also upgraded my speaker system /subwoofer / dsp amp combo. The best part is that all of this fit behind the back seat, so interior looks stealth. I also attached a surface pro as my primary screen, so not stuck with the archaic OEM screen or its functions. My interior setup is -> Surface pro as my central unit powered directly from vehicle battery (direct connection). Audio out through a DAC into the DSP hidden behind back seat. From DSP to speaker and subwoofer as usual. Rear speakers will play system sounds and radio while aftermarket speakers in the front will play PC audio out. Phone connected to surface pro through a USB hub and provides internet /gps connectivity. USB hub provides a lot more USB ports if I need it. This setup gives a Tesla kind of feel to my infotainment, but super practical since I can take my office calls / teams or zoom meeting while driving. With this setup, I feel like I have my perfect driving vehicle with road comfort, tech features, great audio sound, plentiful storage and seating capacity and towing ability. Have to confess that I have soundproofed all doors and the roof to keep inside noise minimal even in heavy highway traffic and during rain. While these are not needed in city driving, they make a meaningful difference for long distance driving. My future plans include changing tires and wheels to add a bit more style :D

The Honda Ridgeline has great ammentities that I could only have dreamed about several years ago: Adaptive cruise, a trunk in the bed of the truck, great gas milage, speakers in the bed of the truck, and a host of other conviences. Also, I love the line of accesories offered for the Ridgeline. I have the tent for the bed, the cargo net, cargo holder, under rear seat storage box, etc.

I have 3000 miles on this truck. The Ridgeline RTLE is comfortable but that is about all I can say. The info system is still bad. It is slow and aggravating the sound is average. The front left speaker was blown out by the time I got it home.I also just shelled out $1400.00. Because I nipped the shark fin backing out of my garage. As such the whole headliner must be removed to fix. These fins sit too high for a truck. Honda could easily make an access panel to get to the antenna but has chosen to stick it to their customers instead. I am seriously looking to dump this while I can
