Used 2005 Honda Pilot LX 4WD 4dr SUV (3.5L 6cyl 5A) Consumer Reviews
Solid SUV
I debated between my 2005 Honda Pilot and a 2008 Jeep Commander. I settled on the Honda. Love the room and cargo space. I seldom use the 3rd row seating but it is roomy for the kids. The gas mileage is not bad for this SUV. Has great get up and go and looks nice on the road!
Definitely not a highway car
The vehicle is an in-town performer. Quick and agile, good boat ramp puller, and plenty of family features. However, extreme road noise on the highway and lousy front brake rotor design makes for a disappointing product. If the load is light and the speeds are low, this is a good neighborhood vehicle. But a road warrior, it is not.

Just an "OK"
This car didn't live up to my expectations. It's my first Honda and I was surprised that the cockpit has several ergonomic issues. The automatic transmission has the strangest kick down I've ever experienced. It feels like someone's putting on the brakes. Speaking of brakes, the ABS system kick in way too early when braking easy on wet roads causing the car to skid forward much further than you expect it too! Very scary in light snow or rain!!! Every time you step on the brake you get a loud thumping in the rear which is undoubtedly the gas slapping the inside of the tank (annoying).
Gas mileage is terrible!
I like the car but can't afford the gas. We are paying about $80.00 a week for gas. I wish we had gone with the cr-v
Disappointing Fuel Economy
I like the car but do not love it. I am currently getting 16 miles a gallon/highway which I think it is pretty bad. Do not know where Honda got the mileage they advertise because I have been getting this mileage since I got the car brand new. I was planning to keep the car but not with this mileage. I might actually dump it early if gas price keeps going up at this rate.
