Used 2018 Honda CR-V Consumer Reviews
Didn't do enough research. Too many bells/whistles
To be fair in judging this car, I tend to compare it to my other vehicles: a 1999 Ford F350 diesel dually and a 2001 Porsche 911 Cab. I expected the Honda to at least be as good as my six Honda bikes I owned over many years. While the dealer after sale claimed that poor performance was news to them, the number of similar complaints on line would negate this. Salesman pushed the features and not performance. I should have figured that out. The car is grossly under-powered with what amounts to little more than a motorcycle engine at 1.5L and four measly cylinders. Obviously, Honda knew this and added the turbocharger as an after thought, still trying to meet CAFE numbers for MPG. (True, on long road trips I get about 32MPG on regular gas). On top of this, my insurance bill doubled, the insurance carrier, USAA, claims that it was very expensive to repair. How can a Honda CRV be more costly to insure than a Porsche or F350 than a 911??? Last week it would not even gasp and battery was DOA. Dealer took it for 24 hours and kindly replaced the battery, which is obviously too small and low powered considering all the junk under the hood that lets power trickle down even when car is not running. Dealer recommended that I run the car an hour every day to prevent this problem. Over all, not what I expected even though I have two friends who love their CRV. I feel cheated and discouraged about spending $35K on this car. ---------------------------- Added at 5,000 miles of varied use with some 100 mile drives and some local. The Edmonds comment that called the cargo space "cavernous" must have been smoking something. Even with rear seats down, (which don't lie flat), there is precious little room for the gear I usually carry. Add to this the fact that many of the desirable "features" shown as Optional in the manual were not included in the"trim package" I got. Things I did not want or need (Heated steering wheel in Florida?) were useless. Not included for some reason was a automatic dimming rear view mirror, foot controlled rear hatch, etc. The "trim Package" is intended to rip the buyer off or make him buy stuff he doesn't want. The "collision avoiding" system is dangerous, really dangerous, because it cuts forward speed drastically without letting cars behind know. Sooner or later, this will result in a rear end collision. In concept it sounds fine and the government agencies sucked it up, requiring it in new cars. This automatic feature is like the doors not unlocking when the driver door is unlocked and the old audio alert that said "the door is ajar." Another useless option I did not want. {As of this date, 2 Aug 2020, there have been two occasions where a car tailgating me skidded and veered after my speed was cut by the nit wit "collision avoidance system killing forward speed suddenly.} I would not recommend or buy this car again.

Mostly ACE - but when driving at pretty high speeds got a rattling noise coming from front dashboard on right side. Still investigating - but it was disturbing...

Recall trauma Honda CR-V 2018
My brand new 6 month old 2018 Honda CR-V has been recalled for “ emission updates” but what’s wrong is gasoline is leaching into the oil tank and gives off bad gasoline smell in cabin!!! Fix didn’t work so back I go! Am not happy! Hate the Apple play navigation system because I can even hear it!!!
