I STILL LOVE my 2018 CR-V EX!!!

I received an email from Edmonds to update my opinion of my 2018 CR-V EX! Well...I STILL love It!!! Great gas mileage and fun to drive! There have been a few things that warranty have fixed, but nothing major. Honda does updates on radio when there have been glitches. The dealership (Spreen Honda, Loma Linda, CA) said they would do updates to radio as needed when Honda system updates. The front driver seat motor gave out (1 part of it) so Honda is replacing the whole driver’s seat. Honda stands by their customers! ♥️ I have had 9 Hondas over my lifetime and this CR-V is by far the best!!! My Accords had the V-6 engines and this 2018 CR-V has the turbo that equals to V-6 in my book except the CR-V has way better gas mileage (avg over 40 mpg on fwy)!!! I am so happy with my purchase and would recommend to anyone looking for economy in a luxury package! : )

1st impressions of 2018 Honda CR-V

I scheduled an appointment to complete the paperwork and take delivery of the car. After waiting for 5 hours I was given a 2017 Pilot as a free loaner and told to go home and return the next morning for my car. When I slid into the seat, it felt goooood! About the only adjustment I had to make was to comfortably reach the pedals. The wife was similarly comfortable in the passenger seat. It was also a pleasure to drive, accelerating easily and shifting smoothly. The next morning I picked up my new car and headed home. I spent a good part of the time trying to find a comfortable position with the seat. It is smaller with a short cushion and large bolsters top and bottom. The front of the seat cushion was digging into my leg, so I tried to adjust it lower. The seat accomplishes that by raising the back which also moves you closer to the steering wheel. Now from that position it can't slide back. So my hair is brushing the headliner, thanks to the moon roof that is standard, and I'm closer to the wheel than I like to be without an extreme recline. I suppose I'll get used to it, but it is very disappointing to find such a poor seat in Honda's most popular car. It will never be a "oh, that feels good" experience. Even the steering wheel is uncomfortable being a hard plastic. Probably the Pilot's was wrapped in leather or cushioned. The center console in the Pilot was excellent. It is a low, flat, surface providing a nice open feeling in the cabin as well as the perfect place to plop a pocketbook. The armrests are on the seat and can be left up out of the way or lowerd down to a perfect position. The CR-V has a center console that is split level, leaving not much room for anything. Also there are no slots or small drawers anywhere in the dash for small items. Everything must be thrown into the center console. When accelerating, the CR -V engine has an initial hesitation and a strained growl. The Pilot responds quickly and easily with no strain. Of course the Pilot is larger and more expensive, but it might be worth the extra investment.

Love my diamond white pearl crv with ivory leather interior! Love how it handles, love how it looks and love the roominess. I also love that even though it sits higher, it's easy in and easy out with doors that fully open for loading kids & big dogs. Hard to believe this is considered a compact suv. My only complaint so far would be the tires it came with. I looked them up and they aren't great. May be replacing them sooner rather than later. Other than that, I highly recommend this vehicle. UPDATE** I've been driving my CR-V since Aug 2018 and I love it more now than the day I drove it off the lot brand new. I still turn to look at it when I walk away after parking it. It's got great pick up, a quiet, smooth ride, great braking and the interior is beautiful, roomy & comfortable. With all the talk about oil dilution and heating problems that some have, I am very happy to report that I have had zero problems in the past almost 6,000 miles & 8 months of driving it. I still highly recommend this energy efficient suv to anyone interested in it. Just take a test drive and find out what I'm talking about for yourself.

CVT is great for mpg but takes getting used to wish it had shift point built in. For the size /segment this is a pretty good car otherwise. Most cars in this class have seats that are in my opinion, too small. Great packaging though. Very spacious, and little touches, like rear seat vents for heat and air. Had a 2016 GMC Sierra crew cab SLT that didn’t even have those! We don’t use this car for trips longer than 2 hours but it’s great for shorter jaunts. Fuel economy I think is as good as the RAV4 Hybrid that I considered but this car was somewhat less money which was a big factor in my decision to purchase the CR-V. The Apple Car Play is great when it works. Dealer tells me that Apple is coming with an update that should clear it up.

Update: I now have owned my CRV for 6 months. Still loving the vehicle but here are things for improvement: 1. Engine way too sluggish and unresponsive to throttle. 2. Adaptive cruise faults for no reason 3. Phone integration and use of apps is problematic and not user friendly. 4. Steering could be more sporty and responsive in turns and windy roads. I would buy this vehicle again but needs improvement. ——-///———///————////——////—— The 2018 CRV is much improved and replaces my previous Ford Escape which was a great vehicle. I like the CRV's comfortable interior and seats which seem more upscale than any previous Honda. The turbo charged inline 4 is mostly adequate in traffic but acceleration could be better. Gas mileage is really good and averaging 31 MPG. There are many safety features included in base vehicle including adaptive cruise, braking and rear camera. However, there are NO BACKUP SENSORS in the rear bumper which is frankly unforgivable in 2018!!! WHY HONDA, WHY!! It is an option on ALL CRV trim levels but not advertised and obviously a cost cutting measure by Honda. Edmunds.com doesn't list it as an option on "build and price". My 6 year old Ford Fusion has rear backup sensors so Honda is light years behind in this REQUIRED safety feature that should be on ALL VEHICLES. Sorry but this is inexcusable and Honda dealers do not tell you this. The rear window is so small you cannot see when backing up and the camera is not accurate in distance to obstructions (or children) when backing up. I would ding Honda 2 stars for safety for this. Otherwise, an excellent vehicle that should be great for road trips or commuting around town.
