Used 2008 Honda Civic Consumer Reviews
Follow up review
The window sticker says to expect 29 MPG. That did not happen in 7 of 11 fill ups. The AC continues to be a thorn in my side. Only cools good on max air recirculating. Switching to outside air makes my temperature probe go up 15 degrees. It's a fun car to drive; it's quiet and peppy; but MPG and AC are big distract ors.
Decent commuter, not the best
Just traded in my 2005 Honda Accord k24a4 for a one owner 2008 honda civic ex coupe with 178k on the odometer. Its smooth, nice paint surprisingly, one tiny spot of rust on passenger wheel well, all in all, it's not the worst. The map lights dont work, the rear speakers and subwoofer dont work, but I didnt expect perfection. It turns much better than my accord did, it has much less guts as well, but I didnt buy it for speed I bought it for economy. The brakes shudder which I EXPECT from any honda and honestly, doesnt bother me as this is common among all years I have ever owned. The AC is cold, the heat is fire, the wipers need to stop being so damn loud and the tires are new sumitomo lst touring, but in the wind, you'll be blown all over and its terrifying. Again it has 178k miles, and it's in better than to be expected shape. It's not the most comfortable, you'll lose all your races at red lights but it gets up and goes when its needed. Timing chain is a nice touch, I may buy a newer civic in the future I heard the 2.0 is better than the R18a1.

Great Civic
I have near 5000 miles on the EX-L Civic. This is a luxury compact sedan with plenty of room. Everything from the heated seats the dash display, the quality that Honda put into this car does make it a luxury compact. Best mpg so far 42! No need to slam the door closed, it closes with the sound of quality! I am totally amazed every time I get into this car. Can you say Swiss watch.
Perfect economic car
It is a nice economic package the DX trim and it performs as an EX in a complete driving experience. The wheels are very nice, and its sporty look and the inches factory lowered give it something extra.
AC Condenser Problem
We have driven our new 2008 civic only 3700 miles. We love the car and great gas mileage and have always thought highly of Honda. This has now changed as do to the design flaw to protect the AC condenser. Small rocks on the road will damage the condenser and it is on covered under warranty.
