Perfect Fit in Our Family

We moved to a new home three months ago and to my dismay, my 2015 F-150 would not fit in the garage alongside my wife's SUV. I'm picky about keeping the vehicles clean and out of harms way, meaning I needed to either remove the F-150 rear bumper (jus' kidding) or consider purchasing another truck. Not an easy decision as I liked everything about the F-150, but spring hail storms in this part of Texas can wreak havoc on a vehicle as we learned several years ago. The search was on for a sporty, nicely equipped truck to take care of occasional hauling needs while obtaining decent gas mileage and providing subtle style in the process. I considered the GM alternatives , but found the Chevy and GMC rather mundane and boring. While performing an online search, I found a black XLT with the chrome package at our local Ford dealer and decided to take it for a spin. I was surprised at the pep offered by the 4-cylinder ecoboost motor. I told the dealer I wanted a black truck with the chrome package and four wheel drive because almost every truck I've owned has had four wheel drive. He found one with everything I wanted excluding the 4WD option. I wrestled with the opportunity to save a few bucks or hold out for the heavier undercarriage and ultimately decided the 2WD truck would suffice. The stylish vehicle gets lots of nods and thumbs-up greetings, especially at the local car wash where folks typically provide complements and ask my opinion. I think they could improve interior storage availability as my F-150 seemed perfectly suited in that regard, but the tech package, once figured out, is really nice and this baby fits in the garage with room to spare. Still in the honeymoon phase, I know, but I'm really satisfied and more than happy with the decision. Before I forget, the 270 HP engine and 10 speed tranny are awesome. I average 24.5 MPG in country/town driving. Great small truck...

Ranger XLT Blows the Doors off the Competition

I picked up a 2019 4x4 XLT with Sport and Off road package plus technology group in November of 2019. I watched the Edmunds review which seems to highlight road vibration. Mine has no road vibration and my passengers have commented how smooth the ride is. My price was under $35K with this vehicle packed with technology. First off, I'm 6'5" and amazed that I have ample headroom and legroom in this vehicle. Visibility is much better than the Ridgeline, in fact I sat in the Ridgeline one more time before I pulled the trigger on the Ranger. The Edmunds review preferred the Toyota, but being tall I can't sit on the floor which is what I find most uncomfortable about the Toyota. The Edmunds off road test failed to utilize trail control and the locking rear diff, which if you got um you should use them. They also found it frustrating that the ford when out of 4x4 Low when they came down the hill at too fast a rate. All which would have been handled successfully by Trail Control. My XLT has too many features to mention. In the end I looked for every reason not to buy a Ford, but I'm a logical person and it made good sense. Extremely happy with my purchase. I really wish reviewers would lose their brand bias.

What?

I went to my local Ford to purchase a different vehicle they had advertised, then I saw this white 2WD 2 door Ranger, did not realize they were back. I have to admit I like the 2 door base units with steel rims and rubber floor mat, anyway the sales-guy offed the keys for a drive and I decided to go for it, did not expect much as I had owned a 2.3L Ranger in the past, good little truck and never had an issue but you know, little 99 HP utility truck. First traffic light I pulled away and about 15-20 MPH I decided to stab the throttle a little to see if anything was there, d@mm I was surprised at the immediate rush of power that set me back in the seat like a true performance car, tried a dead stop run, impressive, passing at hwy speed, impressive, etc. I was totally taken back because I had not read anything about these new Rangers. Once back to the dealer I found out I was driving a high compression, turbocharged, inter-cooled vehicle with a 10 speed transmission and 3.73 final drive, no wonder, that is text book high performance and it will outrun anything in its class, Toyota, Jeep, Colorado, Nissan. Now let me give you some handy info, if you look you will see reports of 0 to 60 MPH in the 6.7s to 7.4s range on the internet, but, they put the same drive-train in all Rangers and the spec is always a 4 door 4WD,.. the 2 door 2WD is around 500 LB lighter and has been tested at 0 to 60 at a flat 6 sec. my rough test look the same or slightly better... food for thought. Once I have had this unit for a while I will return with any negatives or updates to report, right now I have only two complaints and they are common to all ford trucks, rear end sky high in the air and the irritating auto stop, for the sky high rear end Ford knows about this because on their site they photo-shop their pictures to make the trucks look like they sit level, like a Toyota, but they do not, so first order of business I installed a front 2 inch leveling kit, and a quick internet search revealed a plug and play device that solved the auto stop irritation, with that I am very happy and impressed with the new ford ranger so far.

We hade a 2013 ford escape with the eco-boost 2.0 which was very impressive . We decided to trade in the escape for a XLT Ranger. First impressions were the comfort, engine response, transmission shifting, safety features and driveability. I give the ranger thumbs up on everything except the gas mileage. The jury is still out on that. I only have 600 miles on the truck . I have been told that mileage will improve after break-in period (1500MI.) . We'll see. Overall my wife and love the truck.

2019 Ranger

I bought a 2019 Ranger Super Crew XLT 2wd and I am super impressed by the comfort, size, and power. These trucks are all grown up now. I have looked at the Canyon but not enough power. I looked at the Tacoma but the seating position is just weird and it had a harsh ride. My new ranger rides like a dream and with the 2.3L Turbo, this thing moves not to mention the 26mpg, and more safety features than all of the rest when you get the 301A package!
