What a disappointment
I recently purchased a CPO 2012 Ford Fusion SEL with the 3.0L V6 FWD and the piece of crap gets 14 to 14.5 mpg in the city. I've taken it to two dealerships and they've told me that I need to drive it like grandma in order to get better mileage. Believe me I am NOT driving aggressively - I wouldn't be able to afford it! I'm taking off from a light so slowly that people behind me are getting angry with me. The EPA estimates for this car (FWD) are 20 City and 27 Hwy with 23 combined. One dealership ran a computerized mpg test and got 20.5 mpg combined Hwy and City driving. So by Ford's own admission, even when you drive the car like grandma, you don't get the EPA estimated averages.

Great Car For Price, Poor Interior Ergonomics
I really liked my Fusion. I have as a company car and it replaced a Malibu. Better driving, more responsive, decent milage. And it looks good. My issue is the poor design of the seat/dash area. I drive an average of 2,000 miles/mo and after a year I ended up with shoulder issues. The seat does not allow you to adjust to sit upright and the bucket is too narrow, forcing you to round forward as you drive. Too bad, I liked the car. Moving up to an SUV.

Make sure all recalls have been taken care of. Sold car after having fixed on a recall I never knew existed on steering problem which happened suddenly. Recall on Takata airbags (passenger) side not taken care of. dealer denied they did anything wrong on spraying battery somehow which caused a fungus to occur and which entered tubing to engine. I loved the car originally and had it almost 6 years until problems occurred. I bought the Fusion new. Dealership where I bought car was not great so I sold it to a dealership where I am now leasing a 2018 new Toyota Camry LE. After the Toyota dealership which looked the Fusion over after I had already done the paperwork, the salesperson informed me that it was good to get rid of the car as the transmission was due to have problems. Will never purchase a Ford again.

Love my Fusion Hybrid
I have put 3,000 miles on my new Fusion Hybrid and I am averaging 39.5 miles per hour overall. Most of my trips are averaging over 40mpg and my overall average keeps going up each week. Besides the awesome gas mileage, the car rides smooth and is very comfortable.
