From Hemi's to Hybrids!
Before you buy, go drive the cars in your price range. We looked at Tesla and everything in between. The Fusion Titanium Energy stood out in many ways. It feels like a real car. Doors are solid with reassuring feel. It's not a toy. Many others felt like something other than a traditional automobile. In fact my first drive shocked me. It had power and was stable and felt like a real car. I own an SRT 8 Charger 392. There is no comparison, but I will say the Fusion Energi will surprise you when you step on the gas. Last, the array of Tech available for this car is nothing short of amazing. The car is an excellent value and a step up from the competition in my opinion.

Fusion Energi Isn't Perfect, but really close
I bought a 2016 Ford Fusion off-lease in 2019. Cons are the limited trunk space, Infotainment system (complicated to use), and limited electric range. However there are many pros, including the overall MPG. I drive 37 miles to/from work each day and get 21-26 electric miles - averaging over 80mpg each way, every day. I plug into the 110 outlet at home and the 220 volt charger at work. Car charges in about 2 hours at work - about 7 at home. Some of the things I really like about the car are: 1. Handling is superb - tight, responsive handling. 2. Cabin is large, comfortable, and luxurious. 3. Car is really quiet, practically no noise regardless of roads and speed I'm traveling, even at 85 mph on the highway. It is so quiet and so capable in handling, you'll be going 85 while feeling like your going 65 4. Phenomenal ride - soft, but very responsive. Car handles all the ruts, bumps, potholes you'll hit and you won't even notice. 5. Styling - friend said it reminded him a of Jaguar - clearly not a Jaguar, but it does have nice styling. 6. Charging rings at charging port is very helpful to confirm that the car is charging - not all charging stations work correctly. 7. The head-rest isn't too aggressive. I like to sit more upright, maybe more like a professional driver with my upper back against the seat, and the seating is pretty comfortable. 8. Brakes are phenomenal. - aggressive, responsive, and very effective when they are applied. Some reviews complain that the regenerative brakes aren't applied more aggressively as soon as you take pressure off the accelerator - to maximize the regenerative braking, allowing one-pedal operation, like a Tesla, but it's more like a traditional car, which I prefer. (I test-drove a Tesla 3 and it's impressive, but I prefer the Fusion, which seems more plush for a third of the Tesla S price). If nothing else, the Fusion gets about 600 miles with a full charge and full tank. vs. 240 or so for the Tesla. So, I can take weekend trips without worrying about travel distance. Plus, don't have to worry about vastly reduced mileage in the cold like with Tesla. But do wish the Fusion got 35-45 miles on a charge vs. about 24. As for a reviewer saying it gets 12, they are probably using the heater and driving 75 mph+ on the highway. The car gets best mileage on city streets. I switch from EV mode to Engine only when I'm on the highway and wait till I'm on local county roads to use Electric - it pays off as I usually get 2-4 more miles due to braking on local roads (35-45 mile per hour speed limits). While there are a few minor complaints, this is a phenomenal car and my first entree into the PHEV - Overall, I'm delighted with the car. (BTW - few cars come with full size tires - or even a spare tire anymore. Especially hybrids as companies try to keep the weight down.) And acceleration isn't great, but much better than I expected - and I like to drive fast - even passing people on local/county roads because they're going 40mph in a 45-50mph zone. And this car is capable of passing in EV mode or gas.

Edmunds Reviews are right on the money w this one
2016 Titanium, Plug in Hybrid. Leather seats I was looking for the gas mileage with a decent ride. Thank you all for the input on this car. The overall reviews were right. It has a quiet ride in town and on the highway, struts are clunky as predicted. The gas mileage in town and on the highway is as posted by Edmunds. Trunk is small as stated in other reviews. The Car is comfortable and easy to drive , Steering is solid, and the brakes are easy to get use to. Car is predictable and has power is enough for every day driving. Instrument cluster shows what and how much power you are using. Two week and a thousand mile on it the touch screen Nav / radio / Heat /phone are not very intuitive while driving at 70 MPH. The manual radio and heat controls save you some frustration as you can adjust things on the fly without pulling up the needed pages on the touch screen. I bought the Ford for the hybrid "full size" car ride and best mileage. I love the short trips on 100% electric and I can remote start the car for summer climate control without it running the gas engine. Over all, I'm pleased with the car.
