I have had this car about one month. It is a pleasure to drive a new car since I treat myself only about every ten years. The fuel economy and acceleration are great. Reliability is still to be determined but the radio quit after two days, was confirmed as non-operational by the dealer, then resumed working without any repairs being made. I suspect I will have future problems with it. The ride is rather stiff, probably because the recommended tire pressure is 37 psi. The automatic transmission is built to emulate a manual transmission so shifting is very noticeable and not always at the optimum transition points. The transmission has an L position on the shifter, rather than an S, and there is no documentation in the owners manual concerning this. Ford Customer Service (Detroit) was able to give me a good understanding of how it operates but it is surprising that they could not provide me with anything in writing. A rear view camera is standard which is a nice touch.

The automated transmission may seem strange at times from starts at dead stops but soon takes on a very solid feeling when the car is rolling. There is no mushy automatic feeling when the car is going down the road just a good solid feeling like from a manual transmission. The car definitely has good pick up from a dead stop and when driving it the 80 miles home from the dealer I occasionally floored the accelerator when passing a vehicle and I had to watch myself since the car was quickly in the mid 90 MPH range. The car has a very solid feel and the interior materials used gives the car a mini luxury car feel. I bought the car used for my wife and I like it so much I'm considering buying one for myself. I currently drive her old 2000 Focus which continues to be a very reliable vehicle. She has a rather aggressive type of driving style - quick acceleration and hard braking but she is getting 29 mpg in town driving compared to 22 mpg in her 2000 Focus. Great improvement! The hatchback has great styling and this will be our main traveling when the 2 of use are traveling. Just completed a 4000 mile trip to the east coast and the Focus was a joy to drive. Mileage was between 39 to 41 mpg and the vehicles performance is outstanding. Wish Ford was still making the vehicle as I would buy another. Currently have a 2000 Focus as well and at 172,000 miles it still runs like new. My wife and I took the 15 Focus on a close to 4000 mile 10 day trip to N. Carolina last fall. The Focus was comfortable and cruised down the highway smoothly. At one point the gas mileage was 42 mpg. Coming back into wind the low point was 38 mpg heading back into Wyoming. Love the car, Ford made a huge mistake dropping the Focus car line.

I purchased my vehicle very beginning of 2016 with 18k miles on it. It has always shifted funny around 40k it was shifting horrible. Took to the shop warranty covered the clutch in the transmission (I did not even realize my transmission had a clutch as it is and automatic). Which caused me to do research to find that this vehicle has horrible reviews. Not even a month after I got the car back it starts shaking and rattling every time it shifted. Another clutch covered under warranty. Between the 2 clutches I have taken the car to the shop because while pulling out on to the highway the car stopped and acted like it was going to die almost resulting in me getting T-Boned by a semi with my baby in the vehicle. This has happened now twice. I spoke to the dealership that we have bought 3 vehicles from, and the results they had for me was eating what I have in my car and buying new, or downgrading and taking a higher payment. So next step is to contact corporate, then the next step will be contacting a lawyer. The inside is nice, and I love my backup camera which is why it has 2 stars. I will not even let my teenage daughter drive this vehicle
