Used 2015 Ford Focus Consumer Reviews
Trade: MPG for leg room
This is a good car for a single commuter. If everyone in your family is at a healthy weight and under 5’5”, it will seat 5. I’m 6’ tall and uncomfortable had a passenger sit behind me in the vehicle. The engine and tranny have been mostly good to me. The only major issue I’ve had was a wiring problem with the tranny. That was fixed quickly and fairly inexpensively (<$100). I bought the 6 speed manual tranny and bought the car certified pre-owned at under 20000 miles (which I highly recommend for the budget conscious shopper).
Great little car with a horrible transmission
I really loved this car when I bought it, but it has been trouble almost from day one. Right after I took delivery I noticed several flaws in the paint, bad moldings, and misaligned. trim pieces. Many other problems showed up over the next three years, but the biggest problem was the jerky transmission. Ford replaced the clutch pack once and it helped for a while, but the problems soon showed up again. I had hoped to keep the car for a long time, but in the end I decided to trade it in after the three year warranty ran out. The DCT transmission is a really bad design.

Super reliable with a manual transmission
I’ve had my 2015 S Sedan for over 3 years and it’s been near flawless. It now has over 100k miles and the only issue has been a cracked coolant reservoir. Cost me 20 bucks to replace. Everything about this car has held up extremely well including the attractive interior. My favorite part about the car is fuel economy. Even with a 5 speed transmission I average 42mpg on the highway which is more than this car is rated for. The best part is it doesn’t sacrifice power for mpg. It has plenty of power once you get the revs up and this motor loves to rev! For an economy car it’s actually really fun to drive. The 2.0 Duratec engine is tried and true. I believe it is the best economy engine ever made. Efficient, powerful and reliable. You can’t go wrong with this car. ***Update 3/13/24, 150xxx miles*** Entire cooling system had to be replaced. Water pump, radiator, coolant lines failed.. CEL has never come on. I still consider this to be a reliable car.

If it wasn't for the horrible windshield..
I just finished mediation with BBB about a ghosting issue and Ford basically said it isn't their problem since the windshield isn't under warranty. And a defect isn't their problem. Check out my post in FocusFanatics. Under the MK3 thread. You will also read up on many issues that enthusiasts like myself have been shoveled. The only thing Ford does is has a tech go on and say that they'll escalate the issue. Which is a joke. Ford has just lost me as a new car customer. My wife had better luck with her 2014 Fiat 500L built in Bosnia. If it wasn't fr the windshield issue and the horrible exerience with Ford, I'd love this car. Oh and beware. Ford will close your case in customer service without notifying you. I had to call to find this out. I'm looking into filing a lawsuit and hoping to find more with the same issue. 25 April 2017 and still no resolution for poor visibility. I replaced the windshield and the problem went away. But, I traded it in after the RPMs started to randomly bounce and the car had only about 40k miles.

Poor Car
If I would have read the reviews before I bought this car I would have never bought it. Culutch issues Ford refuses to fix it because its not bad enough to replace yet. Over all the car is nice, its sporty, drives good. I have always stood by a ford Not sure now Stay away from Ford Focus
