I love my F150 Lightning electric truck!

I have three gas trucks for my contracting business. While I really like them all (2 Chevys and 1 Ram), I've been spending $9,000 on gas! While I have been a Chevy (or Toyota) guy all my life, currently Ford offers the best, work-ready electric truck. I wanted an electric truck for a couple years and finally bought a Lightning about three weeks ago. I love it! It feels like a regular truck that happens to be electric - and that means its crazy fast and offers one pedal driving (which is awesome)! This Lightning has a much smoother ride than my older trucks - in fact the ride feels a little bouncy / squishy, but its smooth for a truck. I bought the Lariat trim. The large sunroof is amazing! and the huge display is great. The seats are very comfortable and the back seat area is huge. My first complaint is that my higher trim truck didn't come with a bed liner, but I just got one sprayed in. I will be ordering a truck cap for it soon. My other trucks have 6.5 or 8 foot beds - I would have chosen a larger bed if that was an option. Hopefully that will be in the future. Charging it has home has been easy. My shop already had 14-50 (50amp 220V outlet) outside. I leave every day with a full battery. I have solar panels on my house, so for 7 months of the year I'm charging for free (after the panels' sunk cost) with green power. And now I laugh when I drive by gas stations (unless I'm in one of my gas trucks - then I cry because it costs over $120 to fill them). I live in Alaska. The range does drop a lot in the cold. Next winter it will be parked in the garage, which will help. This is not the best 'road trip to remote areas truck' (I will keep a gas truck for that), but for a work truck with a daily radius under 250 miles, this truck can't be beat! I also have a Tesla Y that I bought one year ago, when it seemed like that it would be a couple years before electric trucks would be affordable. Suddenly there are great deals on the F150 Lightnings - so I snapped one up - and recommend others do too! If I had to pick one, I'd chose the Lightning over the Tesla because I need trucks for my work. But I still love the Tesla as well. The Tesla technology, driver interface are more advanced than the Ford - they are simpler and more intuitive. The Ford software is okay, but a bit clunkier. The Lariat interior on the Ford is like a luxury car whereas the Tesla's are spartan (but elegant in their simplicity).

Poor EV range on the highway

I have had the 2023 Ford F150 Lightning platinum about 2 months- Great fit and finish Super smooth ride and Glides on the highway with ease- Super fast- Looks great- Plenty of space- Lots of storage space Leather seats are comfortable but they need more thigh support- Infotainment is not easy to operate- Most disappointing thing is the range of the extended battery pack- I bought it with the understanding that I could get at least 80% of the estimated range- 240 miles I commute 220 miles per day- Mostly Highway Capacity drops from 306 miles to 90-128 miles after driving 110 miles to work- This is driving the truck on cruise control 65-70 miles an hour- I am typically the slowest person driving on slow lane on the highway worried that I won’t get to work on a single full charge- I try to turn off the heat and radio to conserve energy and still can’t get the range I thought I would get- Typically I have to switch cars at work to a gasoline car in order to get back home- I leave it charging on a charger at the parking lot in my hospital until the next day when it is fully charged in order to get back home- I have called Ford about this and they tell me range is based on many factors including speed weather electric usage of heat air conditioning etc- So basically I bought a 90k dollar truck that I can’t drive the way I want to because of the poor range of the battery pack. This truck is not for long commutes greater than 100 miles on the highway- City driving is not an issue with the range- The truck would be near perfect if the EV range was truly 300 miles. Unfortunately customers are not informed that if you intend to drive it on the Highway at speeds greater than 50 miles per hour you will only get 50-55% of the range advertised on paper- I believe this is a dishonest practice to sell a vehicle to a customer where specific needs are not met based on the information provided- This is a fantastic truck for short commutes and city driving otherwise consider getting a Hybrid-

Tech is terrible

I love the truck and it is very fast but the technology is horrible. The Bluetooth and car play keep switching back and forth and you can’t have a conversation while using nav. I have reached out to ford several times but they don’t care. Pretty embarrassing to be driving a 2023 electric truck and I have to wear earbuds so I can be on a call. Ford you need to be better than this.

Not ready for the average pickup driver

Even with the extended range version there’s not enough distance available for the average pick up truck user. Towing significantly decreases available distance. It would be difficult to travel anywhere have any significant distance with this vehicle. On the upside it is everything an F150 can be. I can’t wait to see what Ford does with this vehicle in the future. it has the capacity to be a fantastic pick up truck. I really wanted to love it. It’s just not ready.

The best truck I’ve ever owned. This is my 4th F150. I saw one person talking about updates, which are seamless if you have scheduled auto updates and make sure 12 battery is in good condition and charged. Real solid car. Loving every bit of it. Will never go ICE. Best to charge over night @level 2. Occasionally, I use 80 amp pro charge station for few hrs which pumps @>19kW/Hr. I get around 2.3 miles/kWh which means i can add like 80-90 miles in 2 hours with 80 amp charger if needed. But it’s better to charge over night especially during summer days. It takes 5-10 seconds to plug it in compared to 5-10 mins to pump gas while you also inhale some of it. Off note, I test drove different EVs during this year. Teslas are good EVs but I’m biased towards pickup trucks. Tesla’s are perky but my truck glides at max speed without giving feel of loosing any control, probably because of its weight/long wheelbase and possibly because of my bias towards trucks ) I’m not super into technology but i like fords hand free on the highways. No FSD or any such claim. Haven’t smelled gas fumes or smoke since the purchase of this EV. Ford nailed it by adding tech with simplicity and traditional feel. Update: still loving it after 22 months, I’ve passed bumper to bumper warranty. I never worried about it as had good experience with ford cars. We also have expedition. And this car has power train and battery pack warranty up to 100k. I haven’t observed any change in charging behavior or available miles that I am getting with 80-90% charge. I consider myself heavy footed but never checked SOH of the battery. I have seen all positive and negative videos about f150 lighting. I always seem to disagree with people talking negatively about it. I also realized that those talking negatively about it, mostly, have never even owned it. They are just talking about it based on their impression of it. I dive it everyday. Also used it after hurricane to power appliances and it worked amazing. Only used 20% in 18 hours of power outage. The biggest item was 1 kw window ac.

Battery performance on cold weather is atrocious!!

I just bought an F-150 lightning FLASH, which has the extended range estimate for 320miles on a full charge. I am driving around in CO with temperature between 0-28 F, I have been only getting around 95 miles per charge (80%). I was expecting a drop in battery performance but never more that 50%. I don't think this truck is ready for cold weather.

Ford has no idea what they’re doing

I bought a 2023 Lariat package and have had nothing but disappointment from Ford. They obviously have no idea what they are doing. Since day one I’ve had nothing but problems with the software and the best Ford can tell me is that they’re expecting a software update some time at the end of February. This has been going on for over 2 months now and Ford doesn’t seem to think this is a priority for them after having sold me a $90k truck. In contrast I also own a Tesla and their technology is by far superior. No issues with software updates. If there’s an issue that needs to be resolved it’s done a Lightning speed. Never again Ford. Your customer service leaves a lot to be desired.

I came out of a 2020 Lariat (511A?). It was loaded up with pretty much every option except massage seats (not available in a 2020 Lariat). Unfortunately I could not afford the Lariat Lightning that so many people have reviewed here. I had to go for the XLT SR and only added the 9.6 pro power and tailgate step. I added black custom fit (model and year specific) leather seat covers that fit extremely well and give the look and feel of factory leather seats ($600). I just miss the cooled seats!!! I typically drive about 30 miles per day. So charging at home is only done every few days or so. Although, my son just started playing travel baseball so I charge to full each night before his games. That provides enough range for 1.5 hours out and back with a "little" leftover. That's driving WELL above the posted highway speed limits too. I'm not a conservative driver, range wise. I've had only one issue. It would not shift out of park. Shutting it off, opening the door and trying again corrected that. *I do have to say, to the guy who wrote a review for his Platinum Lightning. You had a Mach E and now a Lightning and nowhere to charge your Lightning? Besides that, if you can afford a $125K truck you can afford to go online and buy a $300-400 mobile charger from Amazon to use in the interim. Sorry to be so critical. That just seems odd. I realize every use case is different. But I think you could have found a way to make it work. The truck has its limitations. But anyone spending big money and waiting a long time to get their truck should have had the time to do your research and plan accordingly.

Have over 13k miles in just over a year with my standard range Pro. I owned at least 8 new cars/suvs previously from Honda, Mazda, Acura, VW, BMW and Jaguar, including some EVs . . . and this is by far the best of the bunch, and it's the lowest trim work truck version. Cabin is quiet, spacious and comfortable. Easy to clean vinyl floors fit my lifestyle just fine. 5.5' bed is just fine. I hauled a big load of roof tiles no problem. 775lb ft. of instant silent torque is a dream, as is topping up the battery at home overnight, just like a cellphone. The mix of comfort, powertrain, solid build, low maintenance (only one tech issue) and practicality (I don't tow) cannot be beat.

Update one year later. I still feel the same way about this truck. It was great this last winter 30 percent range loss in the Saskatchewan winter and I keep plugged in the driveway overnight. I would buy it again yes. Ford really made a masterpiece with this one. Be accepted as a f-150 owner while you are actually an EV owner. The proformance of this vehicle is outstanding. I'm out beating Hellcats light to light while driving a full size truck.. I'm still looking for something bad to say about this truck.

Fits My Needs Perfectly

I run a local service business where I rarely drive more than 50 miles a day. I have power tools that I use at the job site and often had to run a noisy gas generator for power. I was able to ditch the generator and use the Pro Power on board that allows me to tap into the vehicles electric power to run my tools. I can run my equipment all day and use about 10 cents or electricity. We received a level 2 charger last year as part of the purchase of my wife's PHEV. that we never had reason to use. Had a 220V outlet installed in the garage and now use it to charge the Lightning. Have had it for well over a month and a half and have used about $35 worth of electricity to charge. No longer spending $250 a month for gas. Will save over $2500 per year on fuel. No longer spending about 8 hours a year pumping gas at a gas station. No engine to maintain. No transmission. No exhaust system to replace (someone stole my daughter's exhaust system, costing $3500 to replace). The Lightning rides like it's on a cloud. Handles curves better than a ICE F150 because of it's low center of gravity. Extremely energy efficient in around.town driving..Less efficient on the highway..I plan on installing a bed cover hearing that it can help with aerodynamics and highway range. Oh, and it has some get up and go. You hit the gas and you swear your driving a sports car. Very fast. The front trunk (frunk) which is storage vacated by the lack of an engine is where I store most all of my gear. Overall, very functional and efficient for my needs. I don't see me ever going back to a ICE truck again.

Great truck

I bought 23XLT new. I drive 400 -800 miles per week and put 16000+ miles in 7 month. The vehicle handle is wonderful, lane keep assist and range calculations are spot on. I've carried about 1000 lbs on the truck with hardly any loss in range. It gives predictable 300 miles range in summer and 260 mile range in winter. It's comfortable. Updates has improved infotainment. Apple and Google can play integration is flawless. Ford support is excellent when it came to 1 issue when the truck won't start. It was blamed on software update glitch and I had to rent a car outside of Ford coverage. Ford roadside sent debit card to reimburse rental. Overall an amazing experience and I just don't understand why people aren't ditching ICE trucks. The frunk is spacious and useful when the box is full of cargo and additional space is needed for luggage. Can't do that with ICE, with engine in the front. Power outlets are very useful. It is a very useful utility based easy on ride and easy to drive product. I've driven 13 vehicles in 30 years and driven 1.5million miles. This is the most capable vehicle I've enjoyed so far, having driven cadillacs, Lexus and many other American midsized to large vehicles whichbincludes sedans, vans Suv and trucks.

Sparky and the myth

Sparky my 2023 F150 Lightning is a great truck. Comfortable, lots of room, the frunk is really nice to have. Has just enough technology put not to much. Still has knobs for the radio and HVAC. I do not like the idea of going to a screen to find the wipers and anything else that you need in a pinch. The myth is the same for “all” EV’s. Pick a brand it’s the same story. Not enough Range! I have the Extended Range Lightning. Approximately 320 miles fully charged. Ford and most EV models do not recommend charging to 100% unless you are going on a road trip. Apparently it takes the life out of the battery over time plus it takes a lot of time to squeeze the last 20% to top off the battery. So following the manufactures recommendation to charge to 80% you only have 200-240 miles of range. You can not count on a charging station on every off ramp on the interstate so you have to stop short to make sure the charging station is available and not out of service. Also usually you will wait in line for a post to charge. My experience is if I stay within my 200 mile radius it’s great way to go especially cause I have solar on my house and it’s basically free for me to charge old Sparky. On the other side road trips are stressful due to the uncertainty of finding a charging station that works and no waiting in line. I just bought an adapter so I can use the Tesla DC chargers. Maybe this is a game changer since the Tesla charging network is plentiful with locations everywhere.

To be clear, we loved our 2014 FX2 5.0 V8. 390 HP and a strong rumble from the stage 1 exhaust is always exhilarating. Do I miss it? Not when 580 HP with no ICE delay to move me forward so effortlessly in 7,500 pounds of pickup truck! Followed by the application of all-wheel drive and its inherent safety, and you have a formula for success. We were accustomed to paying $250 per overnight trip with our V-8, but are elated to experience between $100-120 just charging our truck while enjoying the places we stop by frequently. That’s a heckuva savings. To address the elephant in the room, I can’t say if this is a problem with other all electric vehicles, or even the Mach-E, but there a dead spots in our City and even some other cities, where the infotainment system will act wonky. From disconnecting my phone from the truck, to switching phone priority from mine to my wife’s. One of the most frustrating was where it took my phone call from the Bluetooth system and put the call into my pocket. I could not reconnect until I posted, turned the truck off, and back on again. I suppose this is worth mentioning, the leather in the 2014 was as durable as can be, comfortable and never gave is any problems. Within 2 months of owning this truck, our huskies gouged out a portion of the seat by just being. So we’ve since installed a $150 seat cover, along with the protective nylon that was already in use. I do not regret buying this truck, I’ve loved it from the get-go. But I wish I knew my old 1989 home had a 100 amp box that would not support a home charging station, because it’ll now set us back at least $10,000 to have PG&E upgrade to a modern 150-200A box, along with the cost of the charging station, and an 11 month wait. Thank goodness Ford worked out a contract with Tesla so we can charge our truck at most (not all) Tesla charging stations. (Tesla still keeps a few stations per town exclusive to Tesla owners.) Lastly, and this one has become a big deal, your local dealership could be on the lower end of quality expectations. FoMoCo (Ford Motor Company) is great, but their dealers are KNOWN for low expectations. They are a by the numbers kind of dealership, and our local Ford dealer is no exception. The quality provided from their service department was bad with our 2014, and we are saddened to say it’s no better with our 2024 Lightning. For the 8 weeks we’ve owned it, we’ve had it in our possession for 6. They did eventually provide me a loaner for 1 of those 2 weeks, but the problem that stemmed from their detail team damaging our window on the purchase date, to their service team damaging the door during window install, to the detail shop fixing the door but damaging the Front and rear bumpers paint. I’m amazed that I hadn’t sued yet. Okay, I’m ranting. But those were all very important. The Lightning’s will only get better from here, get it for its utility (we hike, camp, haul lots of large totes of cosplay costumes and equipment) but don’t expect to tow heavy items. It meets our needs perfectly and the Mega Power Frunk has been extremely useful.

Ford did a great job creating this trim level. Everything you need without waisting money on options you don't. Truck is amazing, quiet with all the power in the world. If your driving habits allow for an electric vehicle this is a no brainer.

I started my EV path on a spontaneous order of a 2021 Mach-E a few months after it was released. I went Standard Range on that which was ok for around town, but terrible for trips in winter with 20% Range loss at 50 degrees and below. Original the Lightning price was too ridiculous expensive, Ford changed price in July 2023, I order XLT, extended range 7/27, it was built 9/28, delivered 10/30. So far winter range hits are same 20% reduction. Weekend trips a few hours away are no problem, holiday travel for 12 hours across 3 states and back is a planning exercise. Free charging credits are great from Electrify America, but are crowded with slow charging EVs like Chevy Bolts, so time to charge is worst with waiting in Walmart parking lots. I'm not giving up, but buyers need to be eyes wide open on your use case. Look at fast charging in your long trip areas, you want 200kw and up chargers, lots of 50kw stations show up and are not fast if you empty the battery. Access Tesla network may help, but again that is not black and white as the only stations open to Ford will be 200kw, there is a ton of older stations below this that will not work. EV adoption is not easy and not for everyone, domyour homework first and understand your use case. All that said, I really love my XLT Lightning and do recommend it with the above guidance to people who ask. It is actually a very blend in truck, only people who follow EV vehicles notice or ask. By contrast my Mustang Mach-E got a lot of attention because of the branding and being a SUV.

XLT 312A Standard Range. The truck fit and finish is great, but electricity costs are cutting into some of the expected savings over gasoline. Range seems very optimistic at 230 miles for the 98kW-hr battery when driving 75% of miles on the freeway at 67mph and only getting 2 miles/kw-hr or much worse at any higher speed, or in colder weather, or towing! Recent "distance to empty" software update seemed to increase Ford's optimism of available range. On top of those concerns, there are too many down DCFC (direct current fast charging) stations, so long distance travel is risky and Ford does not seem to be actively trying to correct that situation. Furthermore, reported just in the F-150 Lightning forums, there have been at least 15 reports of HV (high voltage) battery failure in these first 9 months of production of 15,000 vehicles. So 1 per 1000 vehicles, a 0.1% failure rate that we know about. Is that approximately ~four week repair time acceptable for consumers? That is a lot of total days out of service, somewhat due to many dealers are not up to speed for EVs and low supplies of parts in the Ford network and delivery times. Frunk total space is nice, but oddly shaped and pretty tight for two sets of golf clubs. Good spot in the bottom section to store all the many various 240Vac power adapters that you will need to plug in your "mobile charger" when traveling. The 5.5 foot bed is a touch short while the 2nd row seating has lots of knee space and the seats fold up for a fantastic flat floored room. The cloth seats only come in one color and I question their resistance to dirt; plus the side bolsters do not seem stiff enough. No memory driver's seat for the XLT seems cheap. No rear signature light bar for the XLT is also a miss by Ford as that would point out the Lightning as special for more customers...and the price for the XLT High (312A) is a big jump in price. I had to go for the 312A package to get the Adaptive Cruise Control Assist 2.0, as it really helps in stop and go traffic (or my glancing away) and lane keeping - it should be required safety equipment. BlueCruise seems unnecessary as it will nag you to be looking forward all the time anyway. The 9.6kW Power Onboard is sweet for powering all sorts of things; the 7.2kW, 240Vac/30A plug can be used as a generator back to the house without the fancy and costly Intelligent Power backfeed system. The F-150 PowerBoost Hybrid provides that as well without jumping up to the Lightning; too bad that is not a Plug-In battery for some low cost local range. To scare you away from being a Lightning early adopter, here are some issues reported from the f150lightningforum: Powertrain Malfunction/Reduced Power (HV battery module problem), slight "Click" when starting off either in forward or reverse or metal ‘tink’ sound (axle fix TSB), Sync 4 error, Reduced power with no Fault code, Power reduced to 64%, Humming / Slight Vibration @ 45-48ish or Higher, FordPass App Stopped Working, Recall 22S71 - Windshield wiper motor may become inoperative, Frunk completely dead, Audio off / GPS not functioning after 4.1.1 update, Auto-fold mirrors not working, CarPlay Stereo Issue, No Preconditioning for over a week, Driver window lowering itself after being raised, Safety Issue with Cruise Control Accidentally Engaging, Modem stopped working.....then worked with a weird possible fix, Pro power onboard died on first use! (update: fixed by 12v reboot), Shutter Assembly, Lost my Speedometer screen, Auto-dimming rear/side mirror, Help Interpreting DTC for Powertrain Malfunction/Reduced Power Vehicle Alert, Advice on Frunk Plastic Paint Repair, BlueCruise Driver-Facing camera fault, Heater question during charging...., Where the heck did my power go?, Issues with trucks delivered recently (modem/OTA)?, Ford Service - they can see everything, Phone recognized but CarPlay won't start. I've tried everything I know..., Motor power is reduced from 100% as battery gets lower, Trailer brake module fault, Powertrain Malfunction/Reduced Power (DTC P0AA4:BECM), This just started - tail lights flickering, FordPass Activations for MY2023 Unavailable Until February, Battery and Motor Temperature Dashboard Display Always at Midpoint, ...to give you a few...and on top of these, the Ford Battery EV customer service is getting poor marks. What does a failure rate on an individual part need to be to perhaps only have one failure for the life of a vehicle? And Software is made up of many parts! So, if your truck is working fine, and many must be getting good use, not sure if that is a high enough percentage of satisfied users for the "Truck of the Year" awards. I cannot complain too much about intermittent FordPass App not connecting for a day, or about the user interface software being less than friendly, in my less than 3 months of ownership (<2000 miles) [Ford: please implement the easy software display fixes suggested by many of us! Show the OBD2 data on a screen! Add HV battery % on the Instrument cluster and battery/motor digital temperatures.]. The Ford navigation (3 years free?) with Alexa help without paying for a $10/mo subscription (to get more Amazon music, etc; was free for first 30 days which was not enough to test it out) has been OK enough that I might ignore Android Auto (and Nav can expand to use the whole 12" screen if you want). However, if I decide to use Android Auto for A Better Route Planner App, Waze or Podcast Addict, or for other data heavy functions, I might pay $20/mo for the AT&T Hotspot Wi-Fi and the need to USB-C cable connect the phone to use that. In January 2023, the 15" screen for Lariats and Platinum (as seen in the Mach-E as well) has received some improvements to employ the dial for more functions, like temperature, which makes it more user friendly. The Pro and XLT 12" center screen is liked by many as there are physical buttons and dials for climate and audio. Overall, the cost for a truck can go through the roof if you must have the fancy additions. And the Pro and XLT can be modified to add some higher priced items at a lower cost, especially if you are a DIY'er. Try not to break the bank! Maybe a EV bicycle is all we need? Has global warming reached a tipping point and reducing CO2 (up 33% in 100 years) from fossil fuels must be a priority to save the planet? I think EV use, even with mining all the lithium, is a step in the right direction.

I just purchased my second EV within a year from Ford. Dealership is awesome, no complaints. First vehicle is a Mach-e GT Performance. Great so far (10 months). I just picked up my 2023 F-150 Lightning Platinum 2 weeks ago. Truck is good. ONE HUGE PROBLEM though. I CANT DRIVE IT. Ford has made the wonderous decision to NOT supply chargers with the vehicles. You have to wait until you take delivery and then use your "code" to order a charger. It took 11 days from when I got the truck to the day I got the "code" to order a charger. Then it takes 5-9 business days to process the order, then it ships, then you have to get it installed. RIDICULOUS!!! in the meantime I am left taking taxis because my $125,000.00 truck sits unused through an inability to charge it. I drive it to and from work and take taxis to all else. Yes, I could drive it to a public charger but the nearest public fast charger is 20 mins drive, 30-45 minutes to charge (that adds 40% charge) and 20 mins drive back and I don't have a spare 1 1/2 hours in my days to do that. It is just such a dumb problem and spoils the whole buying experience. Don't worry though, in the most obnoxious and condescending way possible, I was just told that "this time only they will do me a favour and expedite the shipping process to get the charger to me sooner". They went to great lengths to assure me that this is not normally done. They want me to feel special because they are going to allow me to use the vehicle they already accepted $125,000.00 for a day or two quicker than normal. Oh yeah, the mobile charger you say, yep they don't come with the vehicles any more either. They are now a $650.00 option (almost a $1,000.00 item if not spec'd with the truck originally). OR you can go online and order a mobile charger that does not say Ford on it and it will cost you $175-$200. Another nice effort at price gouging just because you can. So there you have it. Ford has kindly decided to increase prices of the EV so that it now costs $125K for a platinum lightning and have also decided that actually using the truck is not important.

I’ve always been an SUV person so this is my first pickup truck. I could not be more happy with it. I try to find excuses just to go drive somewhere. The absolute ungodly power this thing has is crazy. It’s going to end up getting me in trouble. The technology and the bells and whistles on it makes it feel like a luxury vehicle.

If your garage is not connected to your home, be prepared to add wire to support your home pro charger. Extra work be a great truck so far. Learning EV driving is different from combustion, also wish blue cruise updates were more clear about when they come.

I have the 2023 extended range xlt and it has been flawless for me for a year. I have a home charger, plus can charge at work. My family regularly takes trips skiing and had zero issues all winter long, even in cold weather. The range does drop when it's cold, and I run winter tires, so was only seeing about 250 miles of range in the winter, instead of 320. When we went camping, I purchased an electric griddle and used the griddle to cook on, and since the griddle only took 1500 W, it meant we could run it for a looooong time and not really see meaningful battery loss (just remember to turn off climate control when using pro-power!) Overall, still very happy with the truck. I highly recommend the extended range, as it enables road trips, and I don't know if I'd have the same experience with the standard range option.

We purchased it new in late November, 2024. We have almost 6,000 miles on it already, mostly highway miles between SC and Florida with a trip to the DC area thrown in. Having owned several pickup trucks in the past, this one is by far the most comfortable to drive and ride in. Smooth operation with everything at your fingertips. The range is fantastic and the built in navigation system is quite good. There is room for improvement with the navigation because it will suddenly change routes to side roads without any clear reason to do so. Also, the Ford network of chargers is not all inclusive and more than once we have had to find a charger out of network rather than going to ones suggested by the built in navigation. Driving through snow and ice was not a problem but we did notice a lot more accumulation of snow and ice on the undersides of the truck than what we would have seen in the past with ICE vehicles. Makes a lot of sense since there is no heat generation coming from the engine or exhaust system. So, be prepared to knock some accumulated ice and snow off whenever you stop. The front truck is great for transporting suitcases, groceries, my wife’s scooter, etc. The front seats are comfortable. There is lots of room in the second row of seats for three adults. The Blue Cruise Hands Free Driving is super! Not very happy with the cost structure after 90 days though. I might even drop the rating by another star because of the fact that Ford and my dealer have screwed me out of purchasing the lifetime plan for $2499 because of dealer ignorance at Rock Hill Ford, in Rock Hill, SC!! Ford told me they would make it right but then just dumped my complaints and did absolutely nothing!!! Not real happy about it and if there was a consumer complaint department in DC or a real working FTC, maybe a complaint there would get action.

I bought this truck for two reasons: I have a daily 100 mile round trip for cancer treatments beginning soon. I didn’t want to stop by gas stations, so I can go to treatment, have assisted driving bring me back, plug in at home and go again. I also bought it bc the factory which will make them in the future is 15 minutes from my house, and I want the brand to do well to support the folks in my hometown.

The truck is a total pig. Takes 13 hours to charge and a 220 V. The charging stations are mostly broke or lacking the volume needed where you do not have to wait. Over priced and technology is way behind Tesla

I like the truck a lot. But there are a few missing features the trucks lacks being the Lariat Trim. 1: No garage door opener (home link) 2: No trailer brake. Had to buy, add and program. 3: Sound system even being B&O lacks good sound quality. I’m comparing this to my 21 Titan Pro 4X. But overall seems like a solid truck 1000 miles in. Not sure if I will get another 1 after this 2 year lease. Just pricey for lack of features is all. Ford is cutting corners IMO. I understand I don’t have the max tow for the trailer brake. But giving the truck a 7700lbs rating and no brake controller is retarded.

Lots of gimmicks that I would probably get used to, but serious performance. Heavy charging and energy use for an EV, reviews not too good. US charging networks not quite ready for long distance travels. Have a 2018 plug-in hybrid that I use as an EV 90% of the time but could drive cross country if needed. Also have a 2005 gas pickup and thought was to combine the two and save. Dealer played a game with the federal tax credit and made it look like a discount. When all done it was $10K over what I wanted to pay.

Mileage is significantly worse than advertised, the Ford Pledge on a charging unit is absurdly slow and does NOT include the Pro charger, and, for the price, you can get a significantly better vehicle in the Sierra EV for just a few dollars more a month. As a previous Tesla owner who wanted to stay with an EV, the Ford Lightning is absolutely the wrong choice.

We love all the futures of the truck. it drives very nice and smooth. We love that it has separate controls per driver and that is resets. No more high gas prices. Has the cooling seats and all the safety furthers too.

I have had a terrible experience with my Lightning. It has been in the shop 38 days in the first 6 months of ownership, 20,000 miles. I average 1.7 miles per kilowatt hour and only have 250miles of range if the temperature is below 40degF. It has left me stranded 3 times and Malloy Ford could care less. I already have a wheel bearing starting to wear out. My headlight has been misaligned from day one. I keep asking to have it fixed but they keep resetting the headlight leveling system. Someone was able to unlock my truck with a device while locked in my driveway and stole items. Save your sanity and do not buy an F-150 Lightning
