Used 2010 Ford Explorer Sport Trac Consumer Reviews
Love The Sport Trac
Purchased brand new white 09 Sport Trac XLT 4x2, sync/sunroof, over labor day 2009. Truck is perfect for those who want a smoother ride and do not need a huge cargo bed. Plenty of room for 5. Have put 3,000 miles and no issues, rides very nice and getting decent gas mileage, about 18 MPG overall city/hwy. Paid $21,000+ Tax/License
Fun, Flashy, and Practical all in one!
After looking for about a month at every GM vehicle in the SUV, crossover, and truck category, I found this FORD to be a much better fit for comfort, available features, power, looks, and most importantly PRICE! The Adrenalin packages gives you everything you could want in a stylish, flashy ride. The 4.6L 8cyl engine gives you the power that makes this fast and fun. Gas mileage is typical for an engine this size.

Best of two worlds in a vehicle
I have only owned the used Sport Trac for about a month but I have found that the vehicle is a well rounded and comfortable vehicle. I don't put many miles on a truck but I wanted a midsized pickup that was reliable and comfortable. I could not justify buying a new truck because I only drive one occasionally and decided on a used Sport Trac or Ridgeline. After reading dozens of reviews by both professional type reviewers as well as owners it appeared that the so-called experts favored the Ridgeline. However, reviews by owners gave the Sport Trac great reviews. Based on my brief ownership of the Ford, I have found the reviews of owners to be more accurate. Some of the Experts say that the Sport Trac is a gas guzzler. Perhaps some are but the one I bought with 79000 miles on it get an average MPG of 19 with 65% of the miles being highway miles. That is not exceptional but it certainly not a gas guzzler. I found the ride to be quiet and smooth. There is very little wind noise but the tires are all-weather and there is a hum that I could do without. Most of the experts complained of a lack of power in the V6. That is absolute nonsense. The V6 delivers plenty of power unless you are drag racing a Corvette. Complaints about cargo space are certainly valid but then its purpose is primarily for carrying people in comfort and safety. The Sports Trac has lots of little niceties the make it an absolute pleasure to drive. The handling is superb. Breaking is excellent. The ride is quiet and comfortable and the cost to operate is reasonable and the Ford is cable of carrying cargo. The Sports Trac is the best of both worlds. UPDATE: The hum I mentioned in my review turned out to be front wheel bearings. I replaced both front bearings and now the truck is very quiet and smoothe. The cost to replace the bearings was $220 and that and a battery are the only cost for maintenance thus far. I am pleased with the truck. UPDATE: After a couple of years I can say that I am still pleased with the Sports Trac. Actually, my intentions were to buy the new Ford Ranger rumored in 2016 to be released in America. I have decided not to buy one because the Sports Trac is still an exceptional truck. I did add a stereo with a backup camera that makes driving much more enjoyable. The only problem I'm having with the truck is reseting the oil change indicator light.

Ford should keep it
I am reviewing a V8 Adrenalin 2010 6 speed. I'm impressed! Quiet, smooth, gorgeous! But why such crummy gas mileage? And wait, no carpet(?) in a 38K vehicle?
Slight stall
When I slow to make a turn (at low speeds) the truck has a slight pause when pressing on the accelerator. It is incredibly frustrating because I bought the Adrenalin package. My dealer is being great about trying to find the problem. We are waiting for Ford to find a technical (programing) solution. There are no problems at normal speeds.
Hot Adrenalin Sport Trac AWD V8 292 HP
Great Colorado Red color. Very eye- catching Adrenalin package. Love the 20" tires and special rims. The tonneau cover is very nice, convenient and weatherproof. AWD worked flawlessly in ice and snow in Ohio ice storm. V8 towed mother-in-law's car from Michigan to Florida without breaking a sweat. Fit and finish are beautiful. Sound system is excellent, as is Sync hands-free. Really great software on the Sync. Stupid flaws include: Truck bed storage compartment in bad location and useless when tonneau cover is in place; cannot get telescoping steering wheel; no grab handle on driver's door; marginal inside storage; no directional signals in sideview mirrors. Ford can be proud of this.
Great ride
I came out of a 2003 4x4 F250 w/ the V10. I loved th truck but needed a vehicle with a lower payment and lower fuel bill. The Sport Trac did both. I have really enjoyed the ST. I think the 4.0 v6 handles it better than the 4.6 v8 handles the F150. Fuel mileage is avg. about 17, and, with the tailgate down, my Honda Foreman 4wheeler will fit in the back(the side tie downs come in very handy for this. Would definately recommend this vehicle.
Ford is moving forward
I had read a lot of reviews before I made a purchase. Allow me to say Ford had done a great job. I put black leather in this vehicle as well. Sync and convenience pack came with it along with the tow. First, I drove the kids to see family 3 hours away and it drove smooth. The passing issue with power-hey guys turn the OD switch off , that will give you more power, not that I had a problem. No carpet. Excellent, easier maintenance. Plastic inside. Great. Now I dont have to use "Armor All"-easy to clean with warm water. A sync syst-with Sirius. Let's roll! A class 3 tow package-take the jet skis to the lake up to 5000lbs w/ elec. Come on! Gas, Ford could do better.
Excellent Buy!
The Sport Trac is a great truck/SUV! It's great for everyone including familys. This thing has so many features that I don't know where to start. My Kids love it and my wife perfers to drive it over her Mustang and Audi!
A Convert
I have not owned an American built automobile for years, but was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the Ford. With the Adrenalin package, its the hottest looking truck around, and the performance with the V8 is decent. With the incentives Ford was offering, it was also one of the best values out there. The SYNC system is excellent, and the cabin is insulated well enough so you can enjoy the great sound system.
