Downsized Dream!

Previous car was the Explorer Sport.....loved it! But looking to downsize, just don’t need the room as all my kids are grown and driving their own cars! This 2020 Escape is perfect for “My Love” and I to go on our own “weekend escapes”. Great acceleration, love the technology, and plenty of flexible cargo space. Really enjoying the visibility, especially the large sun roof.

two years in, too many issues

Test drove a lot of compact SUVs before choosing the Ford Escape with the Titanium trim. I drove a mustang prior and never had any issues, even as a used rental. Ford missed the mark with this one. Some issues included leaky windshield wiper fluid tank, battery issues within first six months, interior parts started chipping and coming loose early on such as the window buttons, blind spot detection would detect things that weren't there, windows roll right back down after rolling them up. It was also fairly jerky when shifting gears, just not as smooth as some of the competition. One day I'm driving and the parking sensors start going crazy for no reason and the car gets stuck in 1st gear going up a hill. Have to turn around and coast back home, luckily I wasn't far from home. Same issue the next day, we're able to get it out of 1st gear but the parking sensors are going crazy and shutting the car off. I take it to the dealer, but they can't replicate the problem. I pick it up from the dealer and start thinking about the likelihood of this car having even more issues with only 6k more miles on the warranty. On the drive home I have my music off for a change and I then start noticing a massive rattling coming from the roof of the car. Swung it into Carmax and sold it that day.

Love this car!! Changed my life completely

I bought my beloved “Big Red” in April 2020, and a year later I couldn’t be happier. It’s been a perfect match for my “solo female outdoor lifestyle.” I live in an extreme 4-seasons climate, and the car has handled itself beautifully. That includes 95-degree days on the Interstate and snow-stormy drives home from the ski mountain, at night. Once you’re on the highway you push a button, and the car basically drives itself. I really enjoy the bells and whistles, such as being able to listen to Audible audiobooks while driving - the sound system is excellent. I always say “the car is smarter then me,” since it’ll alert you to any dangers and do things such as turn on the headlights and brights for you. The indicators are highly sensitive and accurate; for example, after a cold spell it let me know the tires were a bit low on pressure. Always tells me when wiper fluid is low, etc. The 12v plug is great for a cooler or heated lunchbox. The roof rack has been perfect for transporting paddleboards. (Btw, you can definitely fit a mountain bike in the trunk, over the back folded-down seats.) Drives great, Nav system is fantastic (love how it shows you where traffic is), still a joy to drive and spend time in!

Test drove yesterday. Really liked many aspects of the car. But the driver’s seat...what’s up with that? It feels like I am sitting on something. It’s very uncomfortable. Is it because I am thin? Some people and reviewers don’t seem to notice.

MPG + Comfort

Great little SUV! To keep it short, getting 40+MPG, having AWD, and having more storage than a car, for under $30k is incredible. We love the ride and comfort. The Escape handles so well and is easy to maneuver and fun to drive. I am 6-ft tall and there is plenty of room and comfort. My wife and I have put 5k miles on ours so far, and have had zero issues. We got the 2020 Escape when we had out first child. We wanted a little more room, but my wife also commutes a lot- this was the perfect vehicle for us. If you are in the market for a bigger SUV, this is not the vehicle for you. It is basically a Ford Focus Hatchback with 4wd- That is not a bad thing however. I think Ford needs to market this vehicle a lot more because I think more people would be blown away by what you are getting- and again, especially for the price. I barely see any of these on the road, sadly. Perhaps because of the pandemic. Either way- if you are on the fence, don't be. We could not be happier with our purchase.
