198k and Going Strong!
I am the original buyer back in 95! Paid $26k for her, and it's been an awesome car. I do all the maintenance that's required, when needed. I did not get 198k miles by not taking very, very good care of her. So far, I've done the following since the day she was bought: 1. Timing belt twice (Required maint) 2. New suspension ( struts all around once ) I do all work! 3. New Dash ( Messed up the original ) 4. New Power steering rack in 08' 5. New Stereo all around in 02' 6. New heater core in 08' ( Mice!! ) 7. Brakes when needed, Rotors Once' 8. Basic Tune ups when needed, Plugs filters. 8. New Rebuilt Turbo ( x2 ) 9. New Valve Cover The engine is Original, and is clean as they come.
Hate to sell
I have absolutely no complaints about this car, it's just time to get a new car. Well, maybe one complaint, it is difficult to fit more than 3 people in the car comfortably, eg; long trips. Smooth drive, great air conditioner, power windows, locks and many other amenities made you feel like you were in a luxury sports car.
Super!
This car is simply the best. I used to own a vw, but ever since I got the talon, i'm never going to go back. I wouldn't trade this car for the world, Unless that meant getting more talons :) Simply the best car I've ever owned.
long term car
I have owned my Talon for 11 years & have loved it. After initial problems, covered by warranty, it has performed well & looks great! I have maintained it well.
Worth Every Penny
I bought this car in 96 because it was eye-catching and no one had this car. It was a floor model with 500 miles on it driven from one dealer to the next. I have only had minor issues with this car. Relay sensors, other sensors, a recall, broken door handle. I have 108000 miles on it and an drive it 100 miles a day. I fill up on the fourth day so fuel economy is great. This car style was far ahead of its time and the quality was fantastic. I put low profile tires & rims, added mirror tints, and a small antenna to make the overall look pop even more. Great car for the Fast & Furious enthusiasts, just wish I had extra cash to make it look even better. Only 25000 so hook yours up or get one.
transmission
I bought this car with the intention of a reliable car well I got the car with around 85,000 miles and I thought huh should be good low miles just getting broke in. Nope that was not the case bout two months of driving timing belt timing gears and water pump all at one time. Then bout two weeks later the master cylinder for clutch started leakin. I was like ok there should be any more problems for a while then bout 8 months after purchase the trans blew a hole in the side of it I was like noway well I got one out of junk yard for 500 bucks and again 5 months later the same happened again all I have to say is the car was probably a good little car when it was new but if you by one used beware.
Best car ever owned!
I've owned Honda's and Toyota's and this car is a lot cheaper and it's durability and performance is awesome, even in the non-turbo models(which i owned)
eagle talon
had a few weird problems at the beginning (2 cracked radiators), but all were covered by warranty. Very few problems, AWD is fantastic for bad weather and great in the snow. Loose side mouldings had to be reattached a few times, but overall a great car. Great handling and lots of power
I LOVE MY TALON
Every person i know loves my car and wishes it were there's. They also can't believe it's a '95 since it's stayed in such good shape. I love my car, it's my baby and wouldn't trade it for anything.
My car is awesome
I love my car! It's much faster than other cars I've owned. It's smooth on the road and handles very well. It's also great in snowy weather because of the AWD. Plus, it's just a nice looking car! I like how people always think it's newer than a '95.
Its just my kind of car.
My Talon is the first of my "newer" vehicles, and I love to drive it. I havent had any problems with my car although I'm starting to hear rattling, and for some reason my brakes sometimes squeek, but other than that the car is in great condition. All I have to do is give it a tune and an oil change and its good to go.
Unreliable car
I have my Talon for 4 yrs, and my experience with it has been ok, but recently it is having a big problem with starting the car sometime, Sometimes it start, sometimes it took me a long time to start it, the ongest time that it took me was 2hrs.... I have tried 3 places to fix it, but nobody could figure out how! I have even tried the dealership.... they said nothing was wrong with it.
Life In The Fast Lane
I've driven Hondas, Toyotas, Chevys, Fords, Benzs, BMWs; you name it I've pretty much had a chance to drive it or own it. Never have I had as much fun in a car as I have in my talon. I absolutely love the car and fell in love with it within the first couple days that I owned it. I bought the car with 83,000 miles on it and in less than two months I have added nearly 3,000 more, simply because I like to drive it, no long trips or anything. This car is beauty and the beast all in one. I've already left many a mustang/corvette owner sad and blue after a race off the line. I just wish I had bought it sooner. :)
What a nightmare!
I owned an automatic Eagle Talon for three years and had to replace 4 trasnmissions, torque converter, and possibly the engine but I traded it at that point. What a horrible nightmare. Neither Kelly of Lynnfield, MA or Chrysler was a joy to work with in this whole mess. AVOID!!!
Good car
Haven't had a problem with it yet knock on wood
Been Surprising Reliable
As I stated, I am surprised at how well the car has been driving. I have had almost 0 maintenance problems for 60K. It is currently at 100500k miles. Though I have read reviews on it's electrical problems and so forth, I have had few problems with it.
This car is awesome
I've had the car for 3 years and man it has been a blast to drive. I haven't any problem's from it especially with it being over 9 years old. I bought the car with 52,000 miles on it and now it has 81,848 miles on it. I have driven the car for over 300 miles straight and never got uncomfortable in it. For it being turbo and weighing 3119lbs it gets really good gas mileage. I can drive almost 400 miles before I need to fill the tank again, I get less mileage if I drive it hard but I'm usually pretty easy on it for long trips.
Great car
So far I have not had any trouble with this car. It is very good on gas mileage, very economical, and a very fun car to drive. I would recommend this car to anyone who is interested in a small sporty vehicle for cheap!
She's Mine 'til the Wheels Fall Off!!
My Talon TSI was my first new car. I bought her in '95 fresh out of college and am still driving her today. My new family status forced my to buy an SUV but I continue to drive this car to work (100 miles round trip). My odometer reads 189K and I have NEVER had engine work performed! And she's never left me stranded. Regular oil changes, tune ups every 50K and 92+ Octane ONLY! has keep my girl rolling for 8 years now. I average 27 mpg even with the turbo- of which I take FULL advantage. I gave up comfort of ride for the incredible handling- not a bad trade. A one owner car is what she'll always be!!
Red Talon ESI
I bought my Eagle because of it's looks and a reasonable price. I've driven it for 3 years without too many problems save the ball joint that broke 2 weeks before it was recalled. Anti lock brakes were the first to go and now there's a light on the dash all the time. There is also an oil leak which I suspect has something to do with the head gasket. Interior is snug, with ne real back seat to speak of. Interior construction is cheap cheap cheap. Hard plastic dash basic seats. Radio did not work when headlights were on and I replaced it. Gets good mileage and Is not too bad for 2 people to travel in. Good going to work car.
She's a HOT lady & FUN, too!
This vehicle makes driving fun and exciting. The sleek lines and sporty look put it above and beyond any of it's competition for 1995.
Wow
I thought this car would be nice with it wicked good looks and its turbo awd feature. The ball bearing went out, that was the first 1000 dollars spent. Next the transmission was shallow and needed work, another 1000, i have 45000 miles on the talon, but it is ready to go, the turbo went and that will be about 1000 again. This was all within 4 months. So once one thing goes wrong it all goes wrong unless you like spending money for a car, I would recommend another turbo car if that is what you are after
not a good buy
In 3 years I replaced: head gasket, timing belt, water pump, electrical system, brain, struts, body rust, and 4 ball joints! I can say with objectivity that my Talon was a terrible car as far as reliability. I think it was cheaply made and do not recommend it to anybody who is looking for a dependable vehicle.
2 Fast 2 Expensive
I Have a TSI AWD with 109,000 on it I bought the car in 08/03 and maybe four months later the Clutch Master Cylinder and slaves were replaced $600. The only annoying minor problem I have is the oil return line leaks coming from the turbo. For me gas milage sucks 16-18 mpg since due to upgraded fuel pump and T-28 Turbo along with a diffrent air intake with stock intercooler pipes removed , right now the top boost I can crank is 20lbs he he. Its will also be coming up on a timing belt and H2O Pump eeek. If your looking for something with affordable repairs decide carefully, but as with any car their is nothing certian....
- Performance
- Interior
- Comfort
- Reliability
Bought NEW! Owned 7 years!
Reasonably inexpensive to buy & fun to drive. However, not the most reliable vehicle. Over the 7 years I had this vehicle I had to have it repainted (fading problems covered under warranty), replaced head gasket (all defective in these cars), power locks problems (bent bars inside 2 separate repairs for each side then later driver door lock wouldn't unlock with key, then automatic door lock from driver door to unlock passenger door quit working), rear strut bushings caused excessive squeaking (whole strut has to be replaced) all under 100K.
The old Talons kick butt!
the new eclipse is a joke compared to the older DSM
hatchy
i like how the driving is and the way the fuel ecomonmy is.
9 years and still good
I've owned about 10 cars before this one, and they all left me wanting for something or other. This car has been extremely satisfying and exactly what I wanted until now when its a little small for a family of four. Problems have been minor - a couple of recalls and a sensor but that's about it. Rate 10/10 in ownership experience.
Great first car
Overall a good first car to have. Easy to work on, manegeability etc. A very cute car as well, ages well.
Best Car Ever
This car is sick. Plain and simple.
All Wheel Drive Grip N Go Turbo
Best car I have ever owned. With a little tweaking I easily beat an 07 Mustang GT. Awesome styling and aggressive stance.
SWEET!!
I have had the car for about 2 years and it a blast to drive. The Turbo o how the Turbo Flys!!!!Great in Bad weather.. Fun Fun Fun
Most reliable, cool car ever
I never owned a more reliable car than this one, even after 8 years of driving one. I have never ever had a problem withthis car other than a sensor light and now, the paint is beginning to fade and come off. It always starts, always performs, has never let me down. Its economical, fun to drive, and has an awesome sound system. Wish they still made 'em...I'd get another in a heartbeat....
Quick Response and handling
I found this car to be much quicker than I had expected. Fuel economy is great and the turbo is fun.
AWD Fun
This is an absolute awesome car to own. I wish that I had the ability to buy one new. The performance is awesome (although I have added to it through the help of the aftermarket) Still, a great performer stock. Great traction in bad weather. The interior styling just wraps around the driver (although the gear shift in the manual blocks part of the radio in 5th gear)
Reliable Performance with a Backseat
I purchased this car Jan 1 2000. The only problem I ever experienced was the ABS pump froze-up, $950 to replace, and that was at 95k miles. After we had our first child I had no problems with his carseat fitting in the rear seats, which was great. Turbo power is great for passing on the interstate!
Eagle Talon
The car is really fun to drive. If the performance isn't enough, very little money can make it much faster. Front seats are pretty comfortable, backseats are pretty much worthless.
What a whip
Step on it and go. At ten years old with multiple mechanical problems related to abuse i still blow past other cars with ease. (till my blown shocks hit a pothole)
