I Love My Stratus!
I will admit, when I bought my Stratus, I was not pleased at the fact that I was going from a V-6 1997 Toyota Avalon to this four cylinder car, but after about a month of ownership, I fell in love. With the gas prices the way they are, my Stratus sips on gas and has adequate enough power to roll with the big boys! It's quite fun to drive, it has double wishbone suspension, so it's nice on curvy roads. It has a humungous trunk, 6 x 9 speakers in the front and the rear (no need to put twelves in the trunk). And it's pretty to look at, too.
Solid Car
I bought this RT as soon as the dealer could get it in 2003. I got every possible option except the engine block heater. Other than the significant amount of brake dust (that messes up the nice stock mag wheels) and a weird engine heave every now and then, this car is exceptional. Performance-wise, it's sweet, with plenty of get-up for a non-supercharged V6. Style-wise, everyone loves it...the leather seats are very comfortable and the 8-way power seat makes it a perfect fit for anyone. I'd buy another one in a heartbeat if I hadn't fallen in love with the Chrysler 300 SRT-8...
Dodge Stratus r/t
Very good performance. Better than expeted gas mileage, (about 26 mph city). Car is admired by young people. Have not had it back to the dealer except for one minor issue. Lots of room in trunk. I like the automatic stick shift.
Stratus
Excellent choice of vehicle. Great for any family....very spacious backseat and trunk area.
OK but too pricey
After driving a Ford SHO for 10 years, this was about the only American car with stick shift. It's a bit of a disappointment--engine weak with poor acceleration, stick is smooth, interior appointments, even with leather, not first class, but rattle- free after 13,000 miles. For the $26K, it's overpriced, and the headroom is the pits. I'm only 5'7", but can't wear a baseball cap without dragging on the ceiling. Overall, an average performer in a dog-eat-dog world. I want American, but the options for real quality in the mid- 20's is seriously lacking across all brands.
love my Dodge Stratus
I purchased a 2004 Dodge Stratus. It is a very nice car and It is very comfortable to ride in. Gets good gas mileage which is very important with the high prices of gas these days. It was well worth the investment and the warranty of 7 years or 70,000 miles was a great deal.
Loved it at first
When I bought my car it was great the first three months. Since that time I have had the car in the shop 6 times. The engine has been replaced, the seat belts have been replaced and I am wondering what is going to go wrong with it next! I replaced a 10 year old Chevy with 150,000 miles on it with this Stratus and it has been in the shop more times in the 11 months I have owned it than my Chevy was the entire 10 years I had it. I have written Chrysler and they say it doesn't qualify for the lemon law even though it was in the shop 3 times in 3 months for the same problem. I guess since they replaced the engine they figure that fixes everything. I want to trade again but can't afford to.
Just bought a dodge stratus
The 2004 Dodge Stratus is very comfortable and stylist. It is also very affordable and it comes with a really hard-to-beat warrenty. There wasnt any other automobile that was offering that kind of warrenty; not even the foreign ones.
Decent car, decent price...
All in all, I cannot complain too much. I traded in a '99 Pontiac Grand Prix with 182,000 miles for this '04 Dodge Stratus with 74,000 miles. I have an incredibly long commute to and from work and I figured the MPG difference would pay for itself. I was wrong. The MPG's for the two cars during my ownership have been almost identical. Plus, I am a very tall man and have a wife and two kids to haul around and it is a tight squeeze for us all after a grocery store trip. The front floorboards are very spacious but the back are lacking. The handbrake is too far away for a driver that has to put the seat back a bit. I do like the 4 cupholders. Biggest complaint: the car shifts VERY ROUGHLY!!!!!!!!
dodge stratus
i bought this car new (68 miles)it drives and handles good.some vibration in steering wheel,car has 11000 miles on it.uses some oil 1/2 quart in 1500 ml.gas milage 22 1/2 mpg,gets about 26 on interstate,cruise works good as all power equipment.the seat gets "Hard"after about 100 miles,on a scale of 0-10 i rate the car at 7.5
Wife's car
Just keeps running with very few problems. The only bad problem we had was the disc brake rotors. Had to finally replace them with good ones! Other than that, it is a very dependable vehicle!
Fantastic stylish car
I love this car!!!!!!!!!! It is very sporty looks great and rides great
Great
It is a great car to have. I have a lot of fun with the option of having manual or automatic. I have small children and it's not hard to get them in and out for it being a sports car.
What a car!
Let's be real, in the $25k coupe range you have some pretty poor performers. THe dodge Stratus R/T is not the norm, it has all the power you would want/need from a car that is not an all out sports car. I have seen about 25 mpg and am not one to shy away from getting on it every once in a while. The interior is well appointed and the style of controls with the brushed aluminum accent are incredible. I love this car and especially with the incentives, to be able to purchase this kind of vehicle for under $25k its a winner in my book Good Luck
AAAAA
SUPER PERFORMANCE FOR THE MONEY---SHARP LOOKING CAR
air bags
I wrecked my 2004 stratus after only having it 3 weeks. The airbags did not deploy with a front collision traveling at 40 mph. that did 10,000.00 worth of damage. All four motor mounts broke. The dealer said they are supposed to do that in case of a front collision but i wonder if thats why the airbags didnt deploy.
Great!
Great best car of its kind!
Her's mine ou ours?
MY wife likes to think of this car as hers, becasue the Honda Accord we traded in for it was mostly driven by her. Unlike our Honda however, this car is FUN to drive. So every morning there's a little tug-of-war over who gets to drive the Stratus and who has to take our SUV. It's come down to a strategy of who park behind who and who leaves first in the morning. It's amazing how many late night trips to the video store and Wal-Mart this struggle has generated.
Good for chicks too
Its a definate dude magnet too! Arent you sick of seeing mustangs and eclipses everywhere? Its a head turner, I couldnt even begin to tell you how many compliments Ive gotten!
Me & My Dodge
I was going to write a review weeks after I got my car, but decided that wouldn't be the right thing to do because I hadn't "broken it in" by then. So now I write almost 3 months later and I am SO glad I waited! Car was fine until about a month ago. I started hearing weird things with the brakes and took it in (better safe than sorry) and got the "nothing's wrong, these are brand new brakes" ordeal. That's fine, but why do they squeak like they are old as dirt? I don't like how my seat belt (the little clicker part) is all the way down on the floor and I have to reach in a really ackward way to get to it. The interior is also cheap looking but I needed a car badly!

2004 Dodge Stratus
Vehicle has constant over heating problem It cant be corrected for long even by the dealership(s) that it has been taken to. Constantly gets air bound and then the heater blows cold air. vehicle shuts off on it's own without warning and techs reflash computer but it doesn't correct problem.Vehicle is going in for another front end alignment after a few thousand miles. Vehicle cannot be aligned as there are no possible adjustments (per the tech) without installing a front end alignment kit at a cost of 600 dollars. This was done by a certified Chrysler tech and as I stated it going in again for an alignment. Vehicle has 36,000 miles and wouldn't think you would run into these problems.
It's Transportation
We needed a replacement for my wife's Breeze and the Stratus was the logical choice. The size and price were the main factors that contributed to purchasing the vehicle; we needed a practical car and weren't looking for anything fancy. The SXT package added some nice features like 16" aluminum wheels and keyless entry. The biggest problem so far has been the replacement of the transmission at 500 miles due to a high-pitched whine at 75 MPH. The driver's side window leaks some water when going through a high-pressure wash but after the debacle with getting the transmission fixed I decided I could live with a little water on my arm now and then.
I love this car!!
is there really anything not to love about this car? I get so many compliments on this car, the color is gorgeous! (pearly light blue)
My Purple Lilac Car
My Stratus is a 1996. It has over 164,000 miles and running great. It is my second home. I did not travel far the first several years but then my job took me to farther away places. My car has been my magic blanket taking me there.
this car is nice
THIS IS A GREAT CAR. THE HANDLE IS VERY SMOOTH. THE RIDE NOISE IS QUEIT. IT ALSO HAS GOOD ACCELARATION. THIS CAR IS NICE. A VERY SLEPT ON CAR.
All this under $20,000 WOW!
They only problem I've had with my car is the alignment, which was fixed by the dealer at no charge.
Not bad, but explore the alternatives
This is no doubt a fun car to drive, especially for a family sedan. However, I've had to do a lot of work to it. New trans (I bought it at 53k, it now has 79k), new head gasket, new water pump, brake switch, all 4 power window regulators, an alternator, a weather strip on the top side of the windshield that came loose and flopped around, the blower motor resistor, and an intermittent rough idle that 3 new sets of plugs and two new sets of wires never fixed and is apparently unexplainable. I also have a control arm making noise right now. That said, I do enjoy driving this car... just not the frequent trips to the shop.
Fantastic stylish car
I love this car!!!!!!!!!! It is very sporty looks great and rides great
Love it!
This is the 3rd in the chrysler family ive owned, i last had a 1996 stratus se and this is essentially the same car with a new sharper image and if memory serves me right, the same motor with a little more pep to it. Handles curves as well as my 96 Sebring LXi and the sunroof is a great feature.
Quality Is
I purchased my car in July and god it looks incredible! Have had it 4 months and put 12,000 miles on it already. It is so much darn fun to drive! Even with the 4 cylinder, with the 5 speed, it just screams drive me fast! Love the dash configuration, but some items not thought out very well, i.e. head rests, cup holders (front and back), you know, minor stuff, but still an incredible car!
love the stratus
all around good reliable car
My Stratus
Overall A very good car. Good looking however it is a bit underpowered compared to other cars in it's class, it needs about another 50 horsepower to be competive. The power steering is way to overassisted for my taste, it leaves no real feel of the road. Braking is good and it handles well once you get used to the power stearing. Parts of the interior feel a bit cheap and the dash is comming apart at the de-fog vent aver about 8 months of ownership. The automatic transmission felt abit sluggish on take- off, that's why i chose the manual.
Indiana Stratus
So far so good. It's an attractive vehicle with just enough pizazz to be interesting. Good value. Great gas mileage. Solid feel when driving.
Georgia Stratus
I Love This Car. It looks great with black pearl and crome wheels. Great Drive and lots of Power.
The Perfect Car
This car drives, handles, and performs like a true sports car.
2004 Dodge Stratus R/T
I have nothing but great things to say about my Stratus. I am very glad I chose to buy it! The gas mileage is exactly what the window sticker said it would be, handles great and fun to drive!
Surprisingly Good Car
Bought a program car in 2005. 28-31 mpg hwy. Driven for 82,000 miles of its 100,800 and only put money into oil changes and tires. Problem just arose with engine stutter. Probably bad plug wires from the auto store since I replaced plugs and coil assembly already. Body has held up and interior looks great. Not a quiet car at 75 mph. Lots of road noise. The 4 cylinder engine is weak with full load, but fine for 2 people and luggage.
Good car
I've had this car for approximately for 2 months. This car has been absolutely wonderful. I paid an excellent price for the car. If you look at the inside of the car, you can tell the materials that it's made with are very sturdy and look like they will last a while. The performance of the engine is superb. The car is front wheel drive so you have to be careful to not accelerate too fast and turn at the same time. Overall I'm very happy with the car.
Best Sports Coupe for the Money
This is a great car. I've owned many sports coupes in the past and none had the handling like the Stratus R/T. The driver's cockpit is roomy and comfortable. The car's exterior is sleek and sporty. Can't say enough goods things about the car in this allotted writing space.
ahhhhhhhh
My very first new car! I am completely satisfied with my purchase. Sure it's hard going from a 6 cylinder engine to a 4.. I miss the pick up, the get up and go! I thought going from a 6 to a 4 would save me money on gas... I don't see much difference at all... oh well. I'm happy, It's comfy, sweet looking, reliable (thus far), and overall a joy to drive. Love the many windshield wiper speeds, the back seat opens to the trunk, the button on the dash to open the trunk, versus it being in the glove compartment. Would like an actual tripometer, but that's getting kinda picky I suppose. Definite RECOMMEND.
Wet Floor Boards
Love the car, fun to drive good gas mileage. Unfortunately passenger floor board keeps getting standing water, sometimes so much you cant see the carpeted floor. Dealer thinks its A/C hasn't been able to fix the problem yet. Anyone else have this problem?
great car for the money
this is my first time buying a dodge and so far im very impressed.i traded in my 2001 nissan altima gxe and i must say that this car is much more spacious ,and much more fun to drive.ive gone a tad over 100 miles and i figured id check the fuel effiency and it tok but 3 gallons to fill back up as where my altima would be on 1/2 tank by this time.fit and finsh not up to standards of camry or accord but its also thousands of dollars less expensive.have to wait and see on the reliability but everyone ive talked to whos had one didnt complain .peppy lil 4 banger does fine pulling my 6ft5 300 lb self around with no complaints and i live in a hilly area.
THANK YOU
thank you to the dodge people for making such a fine vehicle. i have had my dodge stratus sxt sedan for about 4 months and have received nothing but compliments from everyone from friends and family to complete strangers. and i always have fun driving it.
my first dodge
Very quiet, with new rotor-and brakes, I know I am good for the next 40,000 miles, next challenge what about oil, will burn more?
TRANSMISSION WOES
my stratus has an automatic transmission...has a HARD downshift :( dodge says that the computer will learn my driving habits and the hard downshift will disappear by 6000 miles...hmmm the dealership service shop personnel drove all the strati on the lot and they all have the same problem...
dodge rammed
I've had the vehicle for about 4 months now and had to replace the transmission already and the brakes had a problem with them. I am in the process of trying to get out of the vehicle and into another
Dodge Stratus
I love my stratus. It has an awesome body style, comfort and drive.
Nice car for the money
I have 44,000 bought it from a rental company after a year with 26,000 miles on it. I have now had it 4 years and it has only been in the shop for regular service and one additional time for front brakes about 80 dollars. I got it for a good price and it has been perfectly reliable so far. I have the extended warranty but have never had to use it so far. I had a 30,000 plus Nissan Z and it was more fun to drive but way more expensive to maintain it was always in the shop.
Don't buy one
I have had my Dodge Stratus in the shop more times than I had my old beater in the shop. The heat has broken, my radio went out, the speaker wires were messed up, and now my brake light keeps coming on. This car is more of a hassel than it is worth. If anyone asked me before they purchased one, I would try and talk them out if it. And to top it off Chrysler Financial is a bear to deal with. I will never, ever purchase or lease a Dodge again! And refuse to ever deal with Chrysler financial in future endeavors.
