Sporty little car

I purchased a used 2013 Dart GT. The GT was a late addition to the 2013 lineup. Out of 150k 2013 Darts only about 2k were GT models. I investigated what is unique to the GT. It has the leather interior with red stitching and interior door handles . The dash has the red “racetrack” lights around it . Interior is very nice . Feels like a more expensive car. Also GT models get 225/80-r18 tires and thicker sway bars . GT gets quicker steering gear ratio too. It handles like a go kart . Very fun . Brakes slow things down impressively, even though they’re not Brembo or slotted rotors. I think Gt gets stiffer struts too. It’s definitely stiff suspension and can be a little harsh on choppy roads. But on smooth twisties it’s great. I read in a forum that GT has a unique ECM tune on the 2.4 muti air motor. I haven’t driven other Darts so can’t compare. It seems perky for a naturally aspirated 4 cylinder. Also read in forum that GT gets slightly lower gearing and the Hyundai 6 speed automatic trans is set up for firm crisp shifts. If you shut the traction control off and floor it it will chirp the tires on the 1-2 & 2-3 shift. I’m not sure which sound system i have , but it’s pretty comparable to the Beats audio in my 2017 Charger. It plays loud and clear. The uconnect 8.4 touch screen is huge and easy to see and the backup camera uses the whole screen. It’s very nice . But this uconnect like my Charger sometimes freezes up and needs to be restarted. I wish it were a little bit taller in ground clearance. . I have to be careful with driveway that are angled , so that the front air dam doesn’t get dragged on the ground . And you’ll want to be in the habit of backing into parking spots that have a cement block at the end . Definitely would smash the air dam/bumper. My 2013 has a key fob, but you still have to insert it in the dash and turn . Kind of a hassle. I think all the 2014’s have a push button start and you can keep the key in your pocket. I like the fold down rear seat. Gives it decent cargo space. The back seat is big enough for 5’10” + people to not hit their head on the roof . The 2.4 multi air has a pretty lumpy idle , but it smooths out right away. Also the exhaust is kind of raspy and loud , like an aftermarket system . It fits the sporty image. It doesn’t have a lot of low end torque, but it pulls pretty strong from 4000 to 6500 rpm. It likes to wind up and rev high. But I can see some people not liking that. If you want whisper quiet and touring suspension don’t get the GT. Overall I like it. It’s fun to drive and looks good.

Worst car ever owned! Dodge Dart Aero turbo

I wanted a Dart because it was affordable and is a nice looking vehicle. A couple months after purchase we noticed a recall for the tcm sensor. We had it fixed and then the problems occured. At 45,000 miles, it had poor exceleration, made horrible noises when shifting, and I couldn't sit in traffic without smelling my gears in the transmission burning. When I went to Dodge to address the issue, they never helped me because I couldn't prove that it was happening. And since I had the recall taken care of, they refused to help us. I avoided going through a drive thru or any areas with heavy traffic. I had to put the car in neutral if I couldn't avoid certain situations. And the car still ran like garbage. Seven engine lights later and Dodge stated they didn't understand my issue or they couldn't find my parts. My warranty was about to expire and I didn't want to put anymore money into it. I called it quits and got a Kia Sorento with more miles but less headache and better fuel economy.

My suggestion is buy any other brand besides chrysler and even if you have bad service it still won't be as bad as chryslers. The car itself is ok. There have been a few issues though. Heater and a/c controlles stopped working. Had the headliner replaced because at night when I would press the brakes the rear window would glow red from the headliner sagging (still didn't fix it). Lost my brakes (stiff pedal) and had to use the e brake to slow down. Called chrysler road side they said the tow would be free and the brakes will be covered by the recall. They told me the car is being towed to a dealer and that everything will be taken care of and they said it will be a 2 week wait. 3 weeks later I call the dealer and they have my car but no info. Hmm chrysler will not take care of anything. They care about selling there product not making customers happy. I will never buy another chrysler product!

Don't know what you people are complaining about. Bought mine used with 25,000 miles and now have 48,000. It's definitely not a car to drive long distances in. Seats are uncomfortable for extended trips. The low profile tires suck. Already blew a tire and cracked the rim on a pothole. Other than that it has been a very dependable car.
