Uncomfortable driver seat
I test drove a regular cab, standard bed model. I liked everything about the truck, except the uncomfortable driver seat. I adjusted the seat forward and backwards and all the lumbar adjustments and it was just horrible. It was only a 10 minute test drive and my butt and back were hurting me! I have a 2000 LS S10 and that worn out seat is still far superior than this truck! I have been buying new GM trucks for 35 years and never had a seat that bad!

Why my 2017 Chevrolet 1500 is a antique
My Chevy 1500 crew cab High Country is a antique! I put 7,400 miles on it and traded it in on a Ram 1500 Longhorn here is what I liked about the High Country the looks great, the 6.2 v-8 is why I bought it great power and fuel mileage, now what I did not like: the 8 speed transmission shifted out of first way to soon, if I gave it a little gas and let up it would make a load thump and when you come to a stop and need to make a turn it would shift out of first 1/2 way into the turn so in traffic you lose that power of first gear, only a 26 gal. gas tank Ram 32 gal., to manual shift the trans you have to take your hand off the steering wheel, I also had a problem when I used it in first it was great but when I shifted into second a couple times there was a big lag, I hated the key fob you had to lock/unlock the truck with it the Ram the fob remains in your pocket and just touch the door handle (inside of handle to open outside to lock and you HAD to use the key for the start) the seat belt was always dropping off my shoulder, on my Ram I could get lower gears (for towing) would have made a huge difference, the Ram was much better going over railroad (bumpy) tracks, both trucks have the 6' 4" bed the Ram seems to have a tighter turning radius?. The worst part is I'am a Chevy person, I drag race with only Chevy engines and I do love the LS engines Edmonds wants me to update this post as you can see I traded the Chevy for a Ram and I still like the Ram just waiting until Chevy up dates the Silverado with more power 450 HP or more and paddle shifters for the Ram when they put a gas engine with 450 HP or more I will be looking to buy!. I sold the antique and traded it for a new Ram because it has a 32 gallon gas tank, 3.90 gears, touch the outside door handle to lock/unlock, better ride, no key to start, shift up/down is on the steering wheel NOT on the shift lever (so you don't have to take your hand off the steering wheel), still waiting for a truck with more H.P. and paddle shifters, Ford is coming out with a new V8 I will be checking it out!

I will never buy another Chevy Silverado
Google "Chevy Silverado Vibrations" before buying this truck. Vibrations and other problems that have been going on since 2014 are still not fixed in 2017 model. Dealerships and GM will not stand behind the warranty on the Silverado. After three visits for same problem dealership refused to work on truck anymore. Had to get GM involved and that was a waste of time. Looks like it is time to get a Lemon Lawyer and sue GM. Do not buy the Chevy Silverado there is a reason that Ford F150 is truck of the year again and out sold Silverado by hundreds of thousands of trucks. Brand new truck and it had broken rear suspension parts replaced plus rear sliding window was replaced. Check your origin of manufacture on window sticker before buying. Mine was manufactured in Mexico and it is crap. I'm wondering now if this truck was wrecked in delivery process. The longer I own the Silverado the worse it gets. New problems every year. Junk. Still taking truck back to dealer for recalls and problems. Since GM blamed vibration problem on tires they kept changing tires and now I have a problem with tires/rims leaking all the time. Keep getting warnings from OnStar about tire pressure. Almost ran into back of several cars at stop lights. Turns out the brake assist pump is either bad or under sized for Silverado. Truck feels like it is accelerating instead of stopping. Had it replaced plus all the belts. Don't trust driving the truck anymore. Yet another problem with Silverado. Driving to work and truck goes into limp mode and started making all kinds of terrible noises. Sounded like parts were breaking and getting shoved out the tail pipe. With only 24,000 miles the ECM (Engine Control Module) went bad. Had to have it replaced. Dealer didn't tell me there was a "ECM learning" period after replacing ECM and almost wrecked truck when it surged at stop light behind several cars. I was standing on brakes and engine was revving at about 3,500 rpm. Had to throw transmission into neutral to stop from hitting others. Silverado continues to disappoint me. Had known braking problem fixed twice and truck still has issues coming to a stop sometimes. I just can't tell when it is going to have trouble stopping until its too late. Sounds like the problem GM had with the ignition switches. GM probably not going to do anything until someone gets killed. Truck still occasionally surges when pulling up to stop sign. Revs up to 2,000 rpm and you have to stand on the brakes. I don't think it's related to the brake assist pump that GM replaced twice already. Forgot to mention I had rust repair done in first year of owning truck. I wish Edmunds would allow less than 1 star rating.

Buy something else!!!!!
This 2017 red line addition silverado is pretty but....... I have owned this truck for 1 year. It is my fourth one. My past trucks have been LT with the 4.3 V6. In my world the 4.3 is 100% better than the 5.3 V8. This truck once I exceeded 5500 miles turned into a LEMON. It has been back to 2 different dealers many times and all they do is print bullitens from GM saying my complaints are normal so they can't fix anything except a faulty muffler and my CD player broke. My MPG is horrible on average 15 I know atleast 10 others with the same exact truck and get 18 to 24 all day long. My truck is not a LTZ as listed there wasn't a title for my exact model on this review. Okay back to the bad......shifting is horrible the truck down shifts hard throwing you into the dash. It will leave from a dead stop with hesitation and jolt you into whiplash . The transmission knocks when going into reverse and coming out of 4wd. I have a case open with GM and they tell me they are sorry and because my truck is not throwing a code they can't fix it??So I'm stuck with this car for atleast another year and hopefully can get out of this lease without getting hurt badly? I would advise anyone looking at GM trucks to look at how many unhappy owners there are between model year 2016 - 2019 even the 2019 trucks are have problems. Did I mention my engine will just shake at idle from time to time. That's normal too! For me No more GM trucks I recently drove a 2017 F-150 and thought it was nicer across the board especially the ride. Another thing don't buy any truck with 20 inch wheels you will be sorry! Ride is terrible!! The good year tires that most come with are absolute garbage especially in snow and that has to do with the 20 inch size so I just changed them and went with coppers. At this time I can say the handling of this truck is 100 % better in snow and rain so hey 1 thumbs up! If I was looking for a new truck at this time it would be Ford or Dodge. All the ratings and reviews put them above chevy and I do know a few people who had owned chevy before and now drive both Ford and Dodge and they tell me life is much happier than before driving a GM truck. As things continue now the truck sometimes will not go into drive. I have to rock it into reverse and back to drive. Are you sure you want to buy a GM truck??? More negative on here than positive. The dealer will not do anything about it because the truck is not throwing a code. Wish you all the best with your new Ford!

Loved it........ now I hate it!!!!
I purchase a 2017 chevy silverado and had it 4 year with no issues. Scheduled maintenance maintained on it and love the ride and handle. Like all good stories that start out great, came the tragedy. It started with a check engine light. Had the codes pulled and it stated knock sensor. I replace both at the dealership. Check engine light came on a few days later with a traction light with it!! Long story short, lifters on cylinder 4 was bad!!!! Dealership told me labor along would be 3,500!! The vehicle only had 86,000 miles on it and required internal motor work. Not to mention, mechanic stated that the cams would need to be replaced as well. Next came the jerking and shaking. I don't know was it the motor or transmission but it felt like someone lightly bumped me from the rear when the motor shifted down upon approaching a stop sign or light. Priced a new motor and estimate was between 8,000 - 9,000!!! Had plans to keep this truck till the end but now questioning whether to buy a chevy vehicle ever again!!!!

2017 Chevy 1500 Crew Cab
With only 55,000 miles, transmission has poor performance and is very sluggish. The display goes completely black at times when a call comes in. I am just very disappointed with Chevrolet as these trucks are built with poor quality and performance. I am purchased a Dodge and I should have went with my mind.
Best used vehicle I’ve ever purchased.
After a vehicle pulled out in front of me while traveling at highway speed. I need to replace my wonderful Equinox turbo 2.0. The market for vehicles is not very good right now due to the microchip shortage putting a hurt on used cars as new car shoppers have to look at other options. Replacing my Nox was going to cost me $7500 more than I paid for it last fall. So I purchased a 2017 Silverado LT Z71 with the 5.3 and 6spd transmission. (Not an option in the selection tool above.) First off, yes the transmission isn’t the smoothest unit, it calls to mind previous Chevy truck transmissions I’ve had. Not refined, but still some of the toughest in the world. MyLink works without error, most of the time, interior build quality rivals RAM, and is much better than Toyota, or Ford’s hard plastic interiors. The seats are unbelievably comfortable, radio has some really good sound to it. The V8 engine has serious grunt, and yet on the long drives between my customers, I’m averaging 21+ mpg. My old V6 mini-trucks in years past couldn’t do that. My wife loves the fact that it’ll tow her camper, seat us, the kids and the dogs! Sharpnack Chevrolet even provided me a low cost 100,000 mile warranty that covers the truck bumper-to-bumper. I called the top warranty companies and their warranty options were nearly $3500, I paid just $2,000. I’m extremely happy with my purchase choice. Here’s to many years working, towing, and truck life.

My luxury car with a bed for my kayak!
This truck is a work horse! It pulls our toy hauler RV full like a dream. I can easily load my kayak & fishing gear & go. BUT it's the luxury that sold me! It's a truck that gets noticed, and it has nicer interior options than my loaded Buick Lacross had. We have a regular Ford F150 for a work truck, (and it's nice too)...but the High Country is the family car with plenty of space for 3 kids and all of our stuff. We are an outdoors family so we wanted something that would feel like a luxury family car but still be able to carry our gear. It's too expensive for just a work truck you could get a cheaper work truck with less frills...but for what we use it for, it's perfect! Also I'm only 4'11" and the adjustments for the seat/steering/pedals make a big truck a perfect fit for a small person!

Lots of vibration
I bought this vehicle at the end of 2016, It shakes like hell between 65-80mph off the lot, This vehicle has been work on for about three weeks to date. All I have gotten is a run around from the dealer, it's the rims and tires, it's balancing issues. They play these silly games, they attempt to make you feel like you are the problem. One customer service representative told me the speed limit was 60mph, all vehicle shakes. Can you believe this nonsense? One of there mechanics told me something was wrong with the vehicles frames and not sure why GM has not own up to it. I have talked with many people with the exact vehicles....same complaint from them. I can't believe the government let these companies get away with such.

Do yourself a favor and read this...
This gets 2 stars just because of the looks and the ride quality. Very nice looking and smooth. That's where the good ends and the nightmare begins. Bought this truck new in 2017. Did all the research and read all the reviews. I loved it and have always been meticulous as far as servicing and taking care of it. It was fine for over 3 years and about 100,000 miles (90% interstate). Then things started happening. First a little lesson. The AFM system, or Active Fuel Management system, is garbage. It is used to limit the power of an 8-cylinder engine and help increase its fuel economy. The system itself is activated when the engine reaches certain perimeters, such as a cruising highway speed. This allows an 8-cylinder engine to run on only four cylinders. I didn't know all the trouble these systems were having. This one screwed me in July of 2021. This fuel management system along with cheap lifters and other parts, are a time bomb. I was driving along and everything went crazy. All the engine lights came on, serious smoke from the exhaust and under the hood, and loud knocking. I was able to get it to a shop. Bent lifters and other broken parts. $4400 engine rebuild. Of course, out of warranty. Come to find out, GM knows all about it and has been sued. But still, no recall or even admitting they have faulty products. They even have a service bulletin for their service departments telling how to fix it. GM's stance, if it happens out of warranty you have to pay and get it repaired at a dealership. Then if it happens a second time, GM will pay for it. Gee, thanks GM! I had the truck back about a month and the transmission went out. Another issue GM is aware of and is in the middle of a lawsuit over. Out of warranty, and another $4000. All this was before the truck had 105k miles on it. These 2 repairs would have been double the price at the dealership. And all the while I kept getting emails from Asheville Chevrolet about trading it and getting a new truck. I responded and told them to remove my address and why I will never buy another GM product. The sales manager did respond and asked me about the issues. He asked if I wanted the service manager to contact me to discuss things. I said yes I did. I wouldn't mind talking to him and seeing what Asheville Chevrolet's opinion is. A week or so later the sales manager emailed me again and said that since I didn't get the dealership to do the repairs, there is nothing they can do. His idea was for me to bring it in and trade for a new one. Obviously that's not happening. And of course, I have never heard a word from Asheville Chevrolet's service (or lack of) manager. Things are still not good. The Apple car play has never fully worked. I plug in my phone and it will connect about 1/2 the time. I've used 3 different phones and about a dozen different cords. Doesn't help. And now, the check engine light is on with a P0440 emission code. Haven't gotten it looked at yet. The air conditioner is not blowing cold air either. I had it charged with coolant and it evidently has a leak. I am getting these issues fixed and unloading this piece of s___ as fast as I can. I have never been more disappointed or disgusted with a company or vehicle. Maybe mine is just a bad one? Nope. I know of 3 other 2017's that friends or coworkers own that have had or are having transmission issues. One of them had his truck get stuck in 4 cylinder mode going up a hill on a 5 lane interstate! Slowed him down to about 15 miles an hour before he could get off the road. While another one has had the lifters bent and engine rebuilt also. I have made it my goal to talk anyone that will listen out of buying a GM product. If I know of anyone in the market for a car or truck, I tell them my story and they are horrified. In the last 10 months, I've been able to change 6 different peoples minds and they have bought other brands. I will continue as long as I have a voice to do it! Petty? Maybe. But I get satisfaction out of knowing they are driving by the Chevrolet dealership to buy something else. Here's an idea GM. Shut down Buick and scale back on all the stupid marketing you do. Put that $$ into making a decent product. THIS is why people don't want to buy domestic vehicles. And I can't blame them. I know every automaker is pretty much crooked and tries to screw over the consumer. But GM takes it to another level and doesn't care and will do nothing about any issues. You've been warned. Learn from my mistakes and problems. Take your hard earned $$ elsewhere.
