Stuck on GM
As a life long GM owner, I just bought another for work. The 4.8 runs smooth and gives 20 per gallon on the highway. I've got a 97 S-10 that doesn't do this good on gas? The ride is excellent for a truck. The silver paint is great if you don't like washing your vehicle all the time. I like this truck so well I'm selling my S-10 and going full size for my own personal truck. I appreciate the standard features such as cruise control, CD player and tilt wheel. Chevy costs more than Dodge but you get what you pay for.
Happy owner
It really leaves nothing more to ask for
Practical but not dull
very good truck
SILVERTRUCK
I bought a 2004 Extended Cab Z71 in June and in Sept my Wife rolled it and it was a total loss; the truck hydroplaned on rough wet pavement, spun around and rolled in the ditch. I found that the suspension was too ridgid and that the vehicle took on a mind of her own once she took to rough road esp. if the pavement was wet. After this I decided to purchase a 2005 Crew Cab Z71 and I find this truck the very best for driving and handling,I do however find that the suspension is still more rigid than I would like and so I alwalys now carry balance weight in the box,( 300 lbs) I have found that this makes a big difference to the stability / ride of the truck especially on rough / wet roads.
First review
Sportside good looking.I have had many trucks, Chevys, fords, jeeps and dodge. I think the assembly quality has gone way down. Mostly interior fit is bad from the side window post to the driver door trim is not good. Outside front wheel whell is 1 inch different from right side. Splash covers are not the same. Center cup holder is a pain where it is.
Ex-Car Owner 2 New Silverado Owner
I bought this truck because of its long history of comfort, features, reliability, and (quite frankly) the new body design. I love it! Sticker was $27,700 paid $25 before GM rebate. Good truck.
da Crew
I'm a Chevyman. I didn't look at other trucks. Got a great deal as a result of an agreement between my employer and GM. $2500 under invoice, plus rebates, plus 1.9% financing. It drives great, lots of power, rides better than the reviews lead me to believe. I get 17.5 MPH combo driving and 20+ on the highway. Only mod is a K&N filter. Bose sound system sounds awesome and the XM puts it through the paces.
Good Truck
Keep your foot out of it or it can get expensive fuel wise. but over all it holds up well.
silverado 4.3L 4x4
this thing will offroad with the best of em. It is beyond quiet at highway speed and more comfortable than I would think a truck could ever be. I don't even have bucket, leather, heated or electric seats. It rides smooth and easy to drive x-country. It's a manual and still easy in city driving or open road. The payload on this thing is unbelievable, my wife had to go down to north carolina while I was in the middle east and picked up alot of my personel gear, completely filling up the back end. She told me she didn't even feel like there was anything in the back end, the truck gets worked and has never even had a hiccup. I could not ask for a more dependable truck.

Chevy rules
Absolutely 100% pleased with this purchase. The luxury side is great and the truck side is awesome! Mileage is not great, but who cares... I did not buy a Z71 crew cab for the gas economy... :-)
Smooth, strong and efficient
5.3 litre runs with anything on the highway, and on open road have gotten 20 mpg I'm not a tire smoker, but at 35mph...hang on! There is no other p/u that cruises as effortlessly or efficiently at highway speeds as this with the 3.42 gears.
My deam truck
This is the sixth Z71 I have owned since I was 16 years old, and there is no doubt that it is the best as far as quality and features goes. I have always been a part of the Chevy family and I love my truck. It has a 4.10 rear end that has allowed me to pull trailers in excess of 10,000 #s with regularity ( although the tow rating is 9200#s). I spend all day in my truck, as it is my office. And even though I drive it real hard and torture it, it keeps on ticking.
Never had any Chevy before
The best truck I have owned. A very comfortable ride even on long drives. My wife likes the ride better then her 2002 Altima, now it's always "Mind if I use the truck today?" Great power-5.3L V8. Gas Mileage is adequate for the motor size. I put a tonneau cover on, gas mileage improved about 4 mpg. Interior is a little noisy, road noise, sounds like a door or window is open a little, when they are not. Doors have a tendency to not close fully unless slammed. I put covers on the seats right away though, the cloth in a truck is going to take a beating. The color: Silver-Birch with the factory chrome wheels is awesome. Literaly bought this one off the showroom floor.
Great Ride
It's a good truck. I tested out the 4wd numerous times and it has pulled me out of sticky situations. Could have more power , but I'm also used to my other truck though. No noises or anything. Pulls trailers like they're not even there. Kids fit great in the back seat. Doesn't turn on a dime though. But for the most part, I love it.
Solid Truck
My 2004 Silverado is a white extended cab LS with the 4.8L V8. I drive in town, highway, use it as a hunting truck, and drive it anywhere I can. It has over 83k now. My last Silverado was sold with 245k on it and my '74 Blazer has 224k so I will be keeping this one with the rock solid Vortec for a long time. All I did to this truck was the tires.
One weird Chevy
We had bought this truck as a replacement for the car we had. We live in the mountains of Colorado and had a few problems with the factory tires and ice. We changed them out for snow tires or all weather tires and have not had an issue since. The real weirdness started when cyl #1 was acting up. I was on my way back to the dealership with a full load driving across country and I was getting nearly 35MPG with a half functioning piston! The dealer stated that the piston had shattered (after much waiting for warrenty work) and was to be replaced. Since then the truck has gone back to its 21MPG and worked fine! Other than powertrain problems I haven't had any other issues and rate it high.
Like a rock
After 2 1/2 years of ownership experience and 40K+ of driving this truck continues to be one of if not the best vehicle I've owned. For a full size 4x4 5000lbs. truck, gas mileage is very good. Minding the speed limit will net 21 MPG on the interstate. Only one problem in ownership, bad power steering pump replaced under warranty around 10K miles. I grew up in a blue oval family and have owned different makes and models of all vehicles, foreign and domestic. As stated above I have no regrets about this truck. I would highly recommend GM products based on this ownership experience. (I wouldn't have done so just a few years ago.) Great job Chevy. Keep on making these classic bowties!
Lil Red Truck
My Silverado is sporty and fun to drive. My truck had a bad rear diferential at 9000 miles however it was totally fixed good as new. I still like the truck very much after 3 years of ownership. I hunt and fish and the Silverado gets me to the country in style.
Quality Defined. Yep, It Is A Chevy
Three years later and its still going strong. No diminished qualities. The only repair outside of standard oil changes has been the steering column bearing and the A/C diverter actuator. No big deal either time. The warranty covered it all. Nice riding vehicle. All two-wheel- drive Chevys historically have the porpoising front ends on hilly/bumpy roads, this one is no different. But, I bought a truck not an El Dorado.
OK But typical GM
Bought the truck new in 2004. Had a Dodge Ram 1500, This was a huge step up. Best gas mileage: 21 MPG driving on factory tires thru Ohio / Indiana. Worst gas mileage: 16 MPG driving on larger P265 aftermarket truck tires thru Central PA. I don't like the rear doors, they don't shut right. At 12,000 miles I had to have all rotors turned, they were warped so bad I was afraid to step on the brakes. At 34,000 miles rear rotors rusted & wore the rear pads out?? Chevy blamed it on me...keeping it in a garage & driving it on weekends is too much for rear disc brakes? Excellent 4WD system, like the part-time 4WD feature, comes in very handy on wet roads. At 35K I still like the truck.
Beautiful but a nightmare truck!
From day one electrical issues and would return to dealer. They would delete the codes and within days the Christmas tree lights would return. Around 30,000 miles the transmission needed to be replaced under the factory warranty . At 70 plus thousand miles the second transmission left me setting again. This time the extended warranty paid the dealer on that claim. At a little over 110 thousand the transmission needed to be replaced again. This truck never pulled a trailer and not ran hard at all. The four wheel drive would just quit for no reason and every single time I took it to the dealer when it was under warranty. They would just erase the codes as if magical that is going to fix the problem. That was the first and last Chevy pickup and according to the vin the truck was assembled in December. So I chalk it up to a hurry up job to get that Christmas party started lol. New update I sold it out for parts and never looked back. Only bought Ford Super Duty's after and problem was solved no more issues.

VARY uncomfortable seats!!!! rough riding, comes from the factory dented,or bad painting, dealer does not check before they except there delivery, rips you off on e.s.p. drivers door misalined, noise in transmission.
this truck
this truck is kind of fats but it could use some more horespower it is down on the competion it needs a supercharger and it need not to be a awd truck
Hot Truck
Has Low raties & Is on a good lote!!!...
Silverado SS
The truck is definitely fun to drive and has lots of power. Drawbacks are terrible gas mileage (and premium) and noises from the AWD caused by bad assembly of the carrier.
I LOVE MY TRUCK ?
I purchased my chevy on base from owning previously a chevy truck A 2000 three quarter ton. My idea was good luck once, good luck twice and was not disappointed. Driving my truck i felt empowered good on the road and safe knowing i was driving a chevy and the way it drove. Problems minimal only wear and tare issues. It seemed when problems come it was never with the engine or transmission just suspension type issues. My truck has run for two lifetimes and was only made, type and model at the end of 2003 for issue on the floor for 2004!!. Mind you me that is something worth.
good truck
love my truck even with a 32 in. tire I'm getting almost 18 miles to the gal. bought it with 108 thousand miles on it and its still strong. there are a few things that do kinda bug me though i have no tach it just doesn't work and the speedometer works when it feels like it and the lights work sometimes off and on mainly running lights and the rear windows roll up and down by themselves.
Awesome truck!!!
The silverado ss is the best lookin truck,on the outside ever made. the handling is great....and it is so fun to drive. It has great get up and go. I love the lowered look with the 22" wheels. This is the best buy for any one who has any sense of style.
Sporty and Fun
The 2004 Chevrolet Silverado Z71 is built with great looks, a wide aggressive stance, athletic handling, and the performance that driving enthusiasts demand. Inside it came with heated leather bucket seats, X/M Satelite radio, cockpit type instrumentation, all with passsenger comfort. The Chevy 5.3 V-8 is powerful and quick on the response, while the Z71 off road package allows you to keep on going when the pavement ends. The Chevy Z71 looks great at the Country Club, on the open range, or anywhere else you want it to go. I love my Chevy.

Glad I bought it...having a blast!
Built Like a Rock
I own a 2004 Chevy Silverado LS 4x4 ext cab, and it drives better than most of the luxary cars I have driven. This truck can haul-a$$. It bought the 2004 for a work truck. I soon found out that I can press the padal and beat the corvette in the next lane. the top speed is electronicaly limited to 95MPH but it could get up to 130 easily. It does guzzle Gas. I would not recomend it to the person that wants a fuel effecient truck. If you want a fun to drive truck this is the one. I have taken this truck off roading and it has been twisted and turned in ways no vehical should. I checked out the vehical later, every part was still stong. BUILT TO LAST
black beauty
my silverado has awesome power and looks terrific, my two highest priorities. also its a chevy so i know it will last.
Silverado is PERFECT
The new Chevrolet Silverado's are among the most perfect truck on the planet. It's extremely fun to drive, and is the most reliable well built vehicle ever made. The K1500 is very powerful and very stylish. Ford nor Dodge have nothing on this line of trucks. No other even comes close.
new truck
nice i like the truck so far. could get better gas milage. nice dealer to deal with
Born to Ride...
This truck can fly off the line (for a truck) and haul anything you throw at it. The ride is smooth, aslong as you dont change the suspension. If you add a Power Chip it boost the power along with alittle more gas mileage. Along with the right kinda of tires, the 4x4 will get you out of most problems. The protection the engine and electrical parts have from water and mud is great. I went through 4ft of water(factory height) without any problems afterward, except alittle water in the cab...no biggy. Careful with the CD player tho, if a cd is in when you start up, it may not play, youll have to take it out then reinsert.
