Used 2006 Chevrolet HHR Consumer Reviews
Hot Hot Roadster
HHR is the hot, hot roadster that Chevy just came out with and the vehicle I have been waiting for!! Awesome drive and awesome looks combined with great gas economy and I think I made a great purchase. Oh, I almost forgot, the vehicle only cost me $16,900....scary! Only negative was there were only 2 to choose from!! Luckily, black was one of the colors I was OK with. Awesome truck!
Very pleased with this sport wagon
The day I saw this vehicle, I called my wife. Within hours we knew this was the one for us. For a small car, it's amazingly big in size and attitude. The ride is far beyond what you'd expect, and it's creature comforts are the best in its class. Even though it only has a 4 cylinder engine, it's got plenty of pick up and go. I tested 0 to 60 in about 9 seconds, so it's just as fast as needed for what we'll use it for. The steering is light and responsive, which is great for us since my wife will be driving it on a long commute once a week. Highway ride is awesome, quiet and smooth. We love the drive by wire feel. It is so fun to drive we can't seem to find enough errands to run.
Problems Chevy Fixed
My HHR has had a few problems that I see other buyers have so I thought I would share them. The wet floor board when it rains is caused from a defective installation of a deflector shield under the hood. Mine just all the sudden started leaking & when I took it to Chevy they told me it was a recall & mine just fell off the car. Experienced the can't get the car out of park & can't get the key out of the ignition both of these are caused from the electronic key needing to be re-programed. Mine is equipped with the volume feature that automatically turns the radio up and down with road noise.I would be driving at 70 miles an hour & it would turn it down all the down. They fixed it. How?
Rating my HHR
The 2006 was my first HHR My husband bought the 2007 and I traded mine in & bought a 2008. We love these cars they are comfortable fuel effecient and reliable. One thing we would like to see [as we live in the Poconos of PA] is all wheel drive, even though they are good in the snow.
A Blast to Drive
Recently bought my 2006 2LT and almost immediately took it on a 2,000 mile road trip. I highly recommend springing the extra $$$ for a LT w/sunroof. First, this vehicle is a blast to drive; it took the switchbacks of Yosemite 20 mph over the speed limit (yes, I'm bad) with no problem whatsoever. Fuel economy on the trip, which involve A LOT of mountain roads between CA and OR was 28.8mpg The negatives: I really don't mind the cup holders that others mention, but I do not like the type and quality of the materials used in the interior, pretty much all hard/cheap plastics, not worthy of this car. I'm also already having to take it in to have the brakes looked at. Love this vehicle though.
