Problem that can not seemed to be fixed

I am the owner of a 2013 Chevy Equinox. When I first purchased the vehicle we had quite a few issues, and I ended up having to have the engine basically rebuilt due to it burning oil. It seemed to be doing great for about a year until about a year ago, and then I started smelling this weird smell from my defroster vent. It comes through my defroster when I turn my heater on. Smells to me like a strong ammonia smell. It is strong enough that it gives me a headache and makes me nauseous. I have taken this to the dealership three times to have this looked at over the past year and no one can seem to find the issue. This is becoming a huge problem, as I do not want to drive it anymore because it is starting to worry me to smell that strong of a smell. There is no leak in the floor boards, we have replaced vents, we also have replaced the car battery. I do not know what else to do, no one can seem to find the problem and I am so frustrated and I over all do like this car, I just want to know what is causing this problem without having to keep paying a fee every time just to take it in to have it looked at for them to tell me they can't figure it out, because it does not do it every time you turn it on.

Oil monger

This car EATS oil. It drives terrible as soon as it needs an oil change. You can hear it in the engine. The O2 sensors have been repaired multiple times. Just get used the engine light being on. It will always be there! 2 blown oil seals because of the manufacturing of the model. But, MY car wasn't covered under the recall. How is that? A little over 120K miles and it acts like it is over 300K. My Jeep is over 200K and 13 years old. Runs so much better than this Equinox.

Picked up the 2LT 4cyl in white diamond w/light titanium leather interior and the 18" upgrade chrome wheels and man it does look sharp! I bought it for my fiance' for Bday/Xmas and I think i'm happier than she is. First thing is it does get 33 mpg I saw it I calculated it and the onboard computer saved it too...achieved on the NJ Turnpike driving 65 mph, i'm sure if you take it to 70+ it drops way off but it will achieve the mileage they claim on the highway. Second is the light titanium leather interior...very nice! It has been a focal point of everyone that's looked at it. My Toyota fan club neighbor came walking by and I opened the door and his eyes popped out his skull..literally..

6 months and 4,000 miles later I have absolutely no regrets! Comfy and fun to drive. No problem passing or merging. Pleasantly surprised at the power it has when you need it. Filling up was difficult but after a couple times you get used to it and now it's no problem. It's soo quiet , roomy and the ride is great. My top 3 were the Mazda CX5, Nissan Rogue, and Equinox. After test drives I knew it was the Chevy. I don't have any blind spots. It has a sturdy & safe feel. My mpg is as advertised but it's all in how you drive. A quick 500 mile trip gave me 31.8mpg. I found a great dealer and got a great price! One problem is my daughter borrowed it and didn't want to give it back!

There is a major issue with camshaft oil seal that causes multiple other parts to become faulty. Within 6mo of owning a pre-owned at 52,000 miles I was having oil consumption issues but was brushed off my 2 dealers. I began to ask for oil consumption tests but was told i would have to pay (which i learned later on is not the case). At every oil change, i would ask them to look for oil leaks, issues, or signs of problems but was given the all clear. Eventually my Equinox was stalling on the expressway and having shifting issues that cause me to get into a small accident. I finally took it to Genisis Chevy who actually listened to my complaints and issues and were able to find the Timing Chain to be completely eroded, the camshaft solenoids damaged, and the oil leaking from the Camshaft Seal. Being a poor College Student who saved to get a this car, the constant runaround telling me nothing was covered until i drove enough miles to make sure it wasn't covered under the warranty was extremely frustrating. CHEVY DOESN'T CARE about their dealers giving the clients a run around or the fact that they put thousands of cars with faulty seals on the road to cause harm to their clients or other people. If you have this car or years 2012-2015 please get this checked out! Don't let them push you around and put you $10,000 in debt of lost equity like they did me. I've put over $3,000 into this car fixing problems that should have been recalled, and Chevy only offering 1/3 of the cost for financial assistance. I could have died or cause serious damage to another person!!!
