Not worth the aggravation!

My 8th new BMW is a 330xi. It looks good & it drives good, however, all the aggravation related to the run flat tires has not been worth it. At 30,000 miles, I am on my 3rd set of tires. The bottom line is I don't enjoy this car and I resent BMW for my unhappiness with the car & the company. All the tire noise, the rough ride and all the inconveniences have really soured me on the car. In addition, I find the turn signals and the start button to be needlessly annoying.

I've had my BMW since 10/2005. Though I LOVE the way the car drives, that love does not offset the dissatisfaction I get from living with this car. It cannot last more than a few months without some problem that needs to be resolved at the dealership. I've had a bad fuel line, grinding noise in the front suspension, failed power locking mechanism x2, failed power window regulator, broken front headlight washers x2, peeling paint from the interior handles x2, random steering wheel locking, active cruise control faults, and more. I've never had a car with so many problems, and I'm terribly disappointed in it. My dealer is not the most helpful either, which compounds my dissatisfaction.

I have driven BMWs for years but this is my last. Replacing the run flats at $1300 every 8 months didn't make sense. Plus, run flats gave it a terrible ride and handling and very noisy. I replaced tires with non run flats. Handled like my previous BMWs but no spare, no room for a spare. The resale value didn't hold up well. I bought a new Audi A4. Handles better, more features. I will not buy another BMW.

I traded my original 5 speed 525i for this 330xi after prowling the lot for months. Same color combination, 4 years newer. Wow. I guess there comes a time when you have to admit that time marches forward and the new features are awesome...bluetooth, Logic 7 and AWD are light years ahead of the 02 525i, plus this is faster and tighter on curves.

Run flat tires are a disaster. Three flats in 750 miles. Need a mouhpiece to protect your teeth if you hit even a small pot hole. Software is poorly integrated. Give me a few mechanical options like a simple switch to control dash lights. Dealer service people couldn't readily explain "initializing" the tire pressure. Handles very well and engine is smooth. Brakes are excellent. Thankfully I only leased this car. Would never buy it. Had previous 5 series: much better. Just could not stand the new styling.
