Used 2006 BMW 3 Series 325i 4dr Sedan (3.0L 6cyl 6M) Consumer Reviews
The 'SPORTS' Is Gone, Replaced By Luxury
BMW's major changes to its 2006 3-Series is fascinating and yet somewhat boring as well. This is my 4th BMW in the 3-Series and while I welcome change, I find myself associating the new design and approach as similar to what Nissan did to its 'Z' cars or what Ford did to its 'Thunderbird'. Sports cars that were fun to drive became fat, boring and touted with 'luxury' instead of 'sport'. I love BMW handling and above all, BMW's intense focus on safety. My 325i 2006 came with i-Drive and the navigation system. Once I get my pilots license, I might have it mastered. Until that time, I really dislike it. Rear view side mirrors are too small and run-flat tires with no spare concern me.
Small problems, but good car overall
I've had my new car since May 2005, and each few weeks there are new small problems. The car came to me out of alignment, the stereo completely broke after 2 weeks, the Blue Tooth works part of the time, one cupholder broke, and there are about a dozen other small things that have broken over the 5 months that I've owned this car. It's frustrating to have to keep taking my car back to the service department when it's a new car and shouldn't have these problems. My advice? Wait until this new model gets all the kinks worked out before buying it! Great car, it just needs some reworking.

Excellent Car, Questionable Value
This is by far the best car I've ever owned. The engine is smooth and feels more powerful than its advetised 215 hp. Manual transmission is slick and precise. Base model is well equipped, which is fortunate because options make the price unreasonable very fast. Keep the pedal off the firewall and fuel economy is average. Zing it to the redline between every stoplight (much fun!) and economy will suffer greatly. Ride is firm and controlled with base suspension, but not harsh. Have had no mechanical problems in the 3000 miles I've owned it. Base stereo is passable, but disappointing in a car of this stature. A great car, but probably not the best value available for your money.
Solid
Overall I have been very happy with my 06 325i. I get great gas mileage, it handles beautifully, although a little sportier than I am used to. The engineering I believe is unmatched by any vehicle. I had to slam on the brakes to avoid a deer and was shocked at the cars response, it stopped on a dime and didnt fishtail at all. I was amazed. I think they could spruce up the interior just a bit more, but I guess if you want total luxury (for the interior) you would need to move to the Lexus.
Quality problems
I own the BMW for last 11 months and drove 12000 miles. It is creating troubles for me steadily. During the first month I had to replace the ball bearing of the front right wheel, the left window pane started making noise and was replaced. Navigation went down and was replaced this month. I have to change wipers every 2nd month. CD player and even parking sensors also got replaced with navigation. Now steering wheel has started making a ticking noise. Air noise also started inc. day by day. Dealer says axle problem so need to be replaced. My car is under warranty so I am getting these treatments free of cost. I just cant imagine what would happen after the warranty ends.
