Great performance, poor reliability
Problems included: The rear defogger didn't work and the rear window had to be replaced. When it rained, water would get trapped in the door wells and gush out onto our shoes when the doors were opened. The dealership couldn?t fix this. Audi customer service simply didn't care, and was often rude. An Audi service manager admitted to us that Audi was aware of this issue but had no solution. Audi's official position was that the car was "performing as engineered". We recently noticed knocks and rattles and an overall loss of performance. The dealership determined that the entire transmission had to be replaced. At 12,500 miles, we had had enough and traded it in on a Passat.
This is not a chevy
I bought a 2003 1.8T A4 just over a year ago and I still love my car. It's a fun car to drive while maintaining some functionality that I need. I would recommend this car to anyone considering buying one. I would also recommend getting the ECU reprogrammed by APR to improve the performance.

Great Design and Handling, Advanced Engineering, $
Solid ! Well designed and built in Germany, Handles GREAT, Quattro w Turbo 1.8 Turbo 20Valve, manual 5spd tranny. I found it used at a dealers lot in 2020, 132k miles , faded paint , talked him down to 900 cash.18 year old car, So, It's been a project, replacing the brakes, rotors , calipers, battery, electronic engine control module , front CV axle and 2 tires set me back over 3k . BUT, it rides , handles, goes and stops almost like a new Audi! It needs an oil pressure sensor and a couple other minor tweaks , mid-range paint job, and it'll be a really sweet car with a little luck and care., For a total investment of roughly $4700 or so. Audi's aren't cheap to repair , so keep that in mind, however they are impressive when maintained and repaired right.

Disappointed....
Had to bring it back to the dealer many times... Sunroof motor, A/C relay, Master cylinder, power window motor, valve tap at start up...
One Great Machine!
Great fit & finish. Wonderful car for the price... Sells for at least a few thousand less than a comparably equipped BMW (plus it has quattro which BMW doesn't have). Luxury interior, sporty performance. It really is an enthusiasts car!
