Used 2019 Acura RDX Consumer Reviews
Disappointed
The ride is better in the Honda CR-V . I was exspecting a smoother ride.... The car itself is very nice but the smooth ride is not there.

Acura rdx finally got rid of it.
Buyer beware , sounds like a lawn mower, shifts like early century tractor. I had car for 5 months now I want to get rid of it. Stereo is terrible. Interior is nice and seats are very comfortable thats the only reason it got two stars. I've owned alot of Acuras over the years this will be my last.

Acura is using toxic interior materials
I leased the car and noticed strange synthetic smell. The fumes simply made me sick. Acura stopped using leather in their entry level models and started using artificial leather - a variation of leatherette. This materials evaporates harsh chemical fumes. I contacted Acura client relationship (case number 08920583). They spoke to me several times, requested a lot of information, even my medical records to prove that I did not have preconditions. When I provided everything they asked, they still told me that they were not going to help me at all. The case manager actually admitted that a small percentage of the population does get sick from this material. Even if most of the people are not severely sick, the chemical fumes cannot be good for anyone. I do not want my child in this car. Acura is still using real letter in their higher end models. They just reduced the cost of manufacturing of their entry level cars. As Acura gave me the runaround and refused to help, I must replace the car with a huge loss. I just went to a Honda dealership. Honda and Acura is the same company. The salesperson told me that indeed the synthetic smell in my car was caused by Acura leatherette and they know that this smell is unpleasant at best. Of course, Acura puts no warning that they replaced leather with artificial materials, which may be harmful for some people.

Very disappointed with low quality of Acura RDX
A was original owner of Acura TL but RDX 2019 (technology package) is a big surprise and disappointment for me. I bought RDX a little more than 1 month ago (it has 1000 miles) but car was already 3 times in the service with some very serious problems. - Almost immediately after I started driving this car I noticed squeaking noise from the brakes. In dealership I was told that Acura is aware of issue but no butte-tin has been set or recall yet. - Second, I noticed a noise coming from the front when hitting bumps. Technical service replaced both front lower arms. - Third time, car was totally dead and I wasn't able to start the engine. Acura service found failed battery and replaced it. All this issues I would expect to happen with the old used cars but why this happen with the brand new RDX 2019? May be Acura put old parts on new cars or they are using very low quality parts for the expansive luxury cars and nobody is checking the final product before presenting for the customers. - Additionally, infotainment System is purely designed. GPS is hard to navigate and difficult to see. Voice recognition system sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. - MPG is lower than promised. Also, RDX doesn't fill as stable as other SUVs on bumpy road on low speed. Super handling (SH) is ok but I wouldn't say that it is much better comparing with other cars from my experience.

A pricey harsh ride with tight-fitting,firm seats
The RDX has grown to mid-size proportions (very close inside as the Lexus RX), but the handling is still quite crisp with reasonable feedback through the steering wheel. Both interior and exterior styling is updated, and the car has great LED lighting throughout. Headlights are surprisingly bright. The car is reasonably quite except during hard acceleration when you get a sports car-like growl from the exhaust. You wouldn't expect this from a refined SUV. Acceleration is quite brisk, but the frequent shifting from the 10-speed automatic transmission gets to be a little annoying. UNFORTUNATELY, the ride is very firm (only the top of the line model has adaptive dampening). The firm seats make the ride seem even harsher. An even more serious problem with the front seats is that the buckets were designed for very slim people. On a short test drive you wouldn't notice how tight the side bolsters of the seat are, but after 30 minutes in the seat, you get annoyed at the tight fit. While the car has adequate cup holders, there isn't enough storage in the relatively small center consul. A moveable upper tray would help keep things organized. My big surprise was that the car does not come with a SPARE TIRE -- Acura provides an inflator kit. (The kit would be useless if you shred a tire going 80 mph in the middle of Montana or Wyoming or Utah.) I ended up paying $560 to have spare tire kit installed. The operation of the Nav/audio system is not exactly intuitive. The car does not have does not have the AM band, and the screen allows you only 4 favorites for Nav addresses, and 4 pre-sets for the radio band. Furthermore, the NAV system simply doesn't find things that you can easily find using Google maps or iPhone maps. I can't believe that Acura execs find the NAV system to be acceptable for their uses. (Keep your smart phone handy.) Also disappointing is the failure of the Lane-keep assist that continuously fails to keep the car in the lane when traveling around gentle curves. If you want a spirited, tight handling, and tight fitting car, the RDX may be right for you. However, if you are even just slightly overweight or if you just prefer a comfortable ride, you better look elsewhere. The RDX isn't for a long road trips -- especially not in remote areas without a spare.
