Used 2003 Acura CL 3.2 Type-S 2dr Coupe (3.2L 6cyl 6M) Consumer Reviews
Best Value if You Can Find Any Left
There was a silver 6sp/CL-S that I had my eye on for months at the dealer. Knowing that 2003 was the last model year, I figured I would be able to pick one up for a good price. Indeed. I did. This car comes with everything. The build quality is top notch. The engine, ooh, that engine. Tranny, a slick shifting dream! Quiet cabin, excellent ergonomics. Honda builds great cars!
Acura quality is going down
First off, I love the engine, transmission, and the seats. The car accelerates well, and the ride is firm, but comfortable. The handling is pretty good for a car of this weight. What has diminished my enjoyment of the car are the various squeaks and rattles coming from the dash, passenger side seat, sunroof, and the rear of the car. This is not something I expected from an over $31,000 car. It only has 1860 miles on the odometer. Hopefully my dealer can fix these annoying problems. My Acura Integra GSR had no such problems early in its life. I will think twice before I buy another Acura.

It's a blast to drive
The six speed manual is a dream to drive, it was definitly worth the wait. The short throw shifter is smooth and quick. The engine is very strong, I'm just at 250 miles on the engine so I'm still taking it easy but sometimes you just can't resist planting your foot and getting thrown back into your seat!
manual cls
This is my second CL. The manual transmission with this engine really makes the car. Its very balanced, phenomenally quick and luxurious. It also appeals to a lot of sub-25 year olds which is surpising given the marketing Acura has provided. Too bad they didnt have the 6speed sooner or the car might have caught on to a wider audience. Its a goner this June.
Fun to drive and reliable!
I bought my CL type-S 6 speed a year ago with 194k on it, now it's got 202k, still running strong. It's not perfect, but it's solid and I have no problems driving it anywhere. I love the amount of torque it's got and I even usually start in 2nd gear for a smoother ride and so I don't spin the tires when it's wet. I love some of the features it has that even my previous car, which was 3 years newer, didn't have. I just wish it had automatic headlights and a compass but it is what it is. Overall I definitely recommend getting one if you can find one. I don't want to get rid of mine but I might need to at some point so I can have more cargo space since this is my only car.
