TURIN, Italy — The seven-passenger 2014 Fiat 500L Living debuted on Tuesday, but Chrysler told Edmunds that the car will not be coming to the U.S.

"The 500L Living is not part of the current product plan of NA (North America)," wrote Ariel Gavilan, a Fiat spokesman, in response to a query.

The standard 2014 Fiat 500L seats five passengers. The base Fiat 500L goes on sale this month in the U.S. starting at $19,900, including an $800 destination charge.

Fiat did not announce European pricing for the 500L Living.

The 500L Living is stretched by almost 8 inches to accommodate the third row of seats.

The engine lineup includes two gasoline engines and two turbodiesels, Fiat said.

The automaker said the Fiat 500L Living will formally debut in July on the sixth anniversary of the Fiat 500 family.

Edmunds says: It's a little surprising that Fiat would take a pass on the U.S. with the Fiat 500L Living, a car that could conceivably compete with the Mazda 5.
