Old Reliable - The Epitome of a Volvo
In 2003, my family made the best decision of our lives. We bought our silver XC90 brand new and will never get rid of it. In the nearly 17 years that we have owned this fantastic piece of machinery, it has needed no major repairs. This tank truly showcases Volvo's superior safety and reliability, where some people only get rid of theirs because they get bored with their model. I think the only "major" thing we needed to do was change the timing belt at 110k. Yes, we only have about 152k miles and it's been with us for almost 20 years, but it still has the same power and fierceness it did in its first year. Shame the dealership is now an hour away, but thankfully, we have not needed to go out there for anything major. Heck, we love this car so much, we bought a 2nd one, a 2018 Inscription! If you ever come across one, we highly recommend you check it out and buy one for yourself :)

Nice vehicle
It has been a great car. We bought one that was fully loaded. Only complaint is that we don't live near a dealer so have to travel for service. We have really felt safe in this car. We had to have break pads replaced too. We think because the car is heavy (for safety) and we live where there are lots of hills.

Transmission exploded after one month
Do not buy this year xc90 under ANY circumstances. Had it one and a half months, transmission exploded. Car has low miles (45,000) and I bought the aftermarket warranty. They will not cover the loss due to a clip failure in the transmission, which fails due to a too short lube tube from the pan. Thumbs way down.
No idea of the troubles...
I've bought my 04 XC90 believing the car was reliable. Later to find out the first month I had it the transmission light appear. the transmission had to be replaced a long with the radiator and later the radio had to be replace as well next the driver side window track had to be replaced then the doors would open while driving on it's own while locked. A few months later the steering wheel became loose, it cost me ninty dollars to have it tighten. The transmission I can some what understand because it was made by GM. I thought I bought a car without an American part. Unfortunately not so. This will haunt me for the life of this car. The brakes and tires well it's a heavy car big deal!
Don't let the looks fool you!!!!
If you're thinking about buying this car please don't, I bought used, had it for less than a year and it was in the shop three time, with the fee being not less than $1,000 when I found out I had a few leak. I sold is as is. Glad to be rid of the piece of junk. Oh but the car looked beautiful!
