Used 1995 Volvo 850 Consumer Reviews
Nice but it has Flaws
Overall it's a nice, solid car with the most beautiful, comfortable leather seats I've ever seen, nice alloy wheels and an attractive overall look. But look out for major mechanical defects...the a/c evaporator is a common problem, costs $1,000 to replace...also lots of trouble with the temperature sensors, constant problems with the power antenna, also tends to leak a lot of oil and other fluids. I thought this was the most reliable of the European brands but I was wrong; I'm too busy to hassle with the constant problems and wish I had gone with a Japanese make.
swedeness
wow this thing hauls a--, the turbo has some lag but when spools up hang on it feels like 325 hp not 225. solid nice heavy feel. a friend of mine is a volvo freak and recommended the 700 series i finally found this 850 and have not been dissapointed the car is great in the winter traction control, seat warmers & the A/C is awesome. very nice mid level luxury vehicle. this is the only car i have kept past 2 years.

My First Foreign Car!
I bought my 850 used in October 07. I had never had a foreign car before. My friend and his family swear by Volvo, so I was a least somewhat familiar with them. Considering I only had $4000 to spend, I think this is easily the best car I could have bought for the money. I've had a couple of bulbs burn out and the odometer gear broke, but that is a known issue and not a big deal if you are handy. This are geat cars, but I can't emphasize this enough... do the maintenance! You really cannot let stuff go on these, but if you take good care of them they will last a very, very long time! I see no reason I won't hit 300k with this car.
I still love it!
I've owned this car for almost 10 years. It runs perfectly and has not had any major problems. I stay current with maintenance schedule recommended by dealer.
225K and going
I got this car with 62k on it. I currently have @ 225K. I have had to repair replace a few things, but nothing out of the ordinary. I would suggest to anyone who wants a good car for the long haul
