Used 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan Consumer Reviews
Unexpectedly impressive
The lease on my 2016 Tiguan was about up and I was apprehensive about the new version. Reviews said it was slower and got poor mileage. My advice to potential buyers would be to forget the reviews and drive one. My 2019 gets 5-6 miles per gallon more than my 2016 Tiguan. The car is bigger and heavier so the power feels softer, but increasing from a six to eight speed auto compensates effectively for this. As a next generation model, it should be more refined, with better safety features and it is. The ride is more plush than the 2016, but it still has that VW responsiveness and precision. The extra room is really noticeable and appreciated. Looking at comparable vehicles, I didn't find anything that could match the Tiguan, taking into account price, features, and performance.
Vdub has a winner
Volkswagen has a winner in the new Tiguan. Traded a 2015 forester limited for the 2019 Tiguan in Stone Blue and couldn't be any happier. The ride is extremely quiet and comfortable. The infotainment system is excellent. Safety features work great. MPG is much higher than EPA rating. Acceleration is similar to competitors and not an issue. Leith VW in Raleigh, NC provided the best buying experience ever. Salesman Mike was awesome. Great car, great price, great dealership experience = the perfect trifecta.

Best choice for me
I am a very careful shopper, and found the VW Tiguan gave me everything I needed in my next vehicle, at a much more competitive price than similar vehicles. My main priority is safety, then comfort. Top marks on both!

Raw Deal
I purchased a 2018 Volkswagen Tigual SEL Premium in 2017 and have since had so many problems with vital parts of the vehicle, I am afraid to drive it or even put my kids and grandkids in it. I have been at the dealership more than I had been with my old 2012 Nissan Quest SE. They have performed reparis from the break line, injector seals, T8 fuel injector harness, the intake maniford gasket, engine air box and the cylinder 4 injector. Then on top of that it was the previous issues with electrical. I was stopped by NYPD for not having proper functioning headlights. I had to have them replaced twice. Now there's a very strong smell of gasoline inside the cabin and around the vehicle, it feels like the car is going to go up in flames if anyone is near with a cigarret making me feel extremely unsafe to even turn on the vehicle. As a law enforecement officer and a parent and grandparent, I feel like I was given a raw deal by Volkswagen. I wanted to experience a Volkswagen's safety and features, however this has turned out to be a nightmare for all of us. There is though that car payment that doesn't go away. I still have to pay that car note regardless of the fact that the vehicle I am paying for does not work and is not safe to even transport our pets in it. To make matters worst, the dealership Teddy Volkswagen in the Bronx,NY doesn't even offer loaner vehcies. I would have to spend more money on rentals and hope to get reimbursed for it. I am so extremely dissapointd. I have received no apoligies from anyne at Volkswagen.

2019 Tiguan- EHHHH
Hey there! I recently purchased my 2019 Tiguan on Memorial Day weekend. I’ve had a 2014 Jetta for a few years, which I LOVED, however it was started to break down every month or do & it was getting to be ridiculous! It was time to bite the bullet an invest in my “mom car”. The 2019 Tiguan was it.... after a lot of back & forth researching & negotiating with my salesman. Let’s fast forward. The weekend of June 22 what happens? My engine light comes on!!! My thoughts... you’ve got to be kidding me! Check out what’s under the good & come to find out... there is 0oz of oil in my brand new car lol I also hook my car up to see what code I get to help determine why my light is on. Same code is got was the same one I was getting with my Jetta! - mind you every time my car had issues everything got fixed... I’m a mom of 2 I needed a reliable car! I take my car in to get checked.... ECM problem! Which I knew because of previous experience. They kept my car for a few days & I got it back on a Friday. Cool. Problem fixed. It just needed to be “updated” ... the software... on a new car... hmmm ok. Let’s fast forward AGAIN! July 4th. I go to pack up the car to enjoy the day at the pool with the kids... what do I see ... THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AGAIN! Now I’m fuming. I try not to let it ruin my day with the kids so I simply make another appointment for the following morning. I take my car in .... today at 9... was told it make take x amount of time which I was cool with. 11:30 rolls around & im told i may need a new turbo..... hmmm sounds familiar yet again. “Let me make sure it’s under warranty” lol The lady comes back to say they gave her the wrong info & that was for someone else’s car. However my car is hooked up there just trying to see what comes up. Ok... still I’m trying to stay calm even though my kids are getting antsy & I’m feeling like I’m in the freaking twilight zone! She comes back again to say they aren’t sure what could be wrong with my cat & that they are waiting to hear from headquarters... not her words... but someone over the tecs at the dealership because they can’t come up with a solution. “I’ll give you a loaner because it’s goimf to take hours and once we know something I’ll let you know.” I’m grateful for things being covered under warranty HOWEVER I’m having the EXACT same issues I was having with my Jetta. I have YET to make my first payment on this car & it’s been in the shop twice in less than 2 weeks. Sounds to me this is may be an common issue with VW... at least in my case. I want to love it so bad. But once my time is up with this car... if I’m not issues something else due to the outcome... I probably won’t purchase another VW. Unfortunately.
