First car for my daughter

After reviewing multiple cars we ended up buying my daughter the Tiguan 2.0T SEL for her first car. Everything was fine at first, but then we started noticing that her washer fluid kept having to be refilled more often than normal, the lights around her sunroof were not coming, and also the driver side door was rattling. We brought it in to the dealership and they found out that she had the wrong cap on the washer fluid valve and her sunroof was leaking. So after a month of being in the shop because the piece for the sunroof was on backorder, we thought that they had fixed everything but the rattling was still there and she was driving the other day in the rain and water started dripping from the interior lights. We are getting rid of the car after having continuous issues.

Love the ride

Last summer I rented a VW Jetta for a 30 day road trip over 4,000 miles. I enjoyed the car so much I decided to add VW to my search list when looking to replace my 2016 Toyota Camry at lease end. Since we had pretty much decided on moving to a compact SUV - we shopped Toyota RAV4 - Ford Escape - Mazda CX-5 and the Tiguan. After reading a lot of reviews of the RAV4 - and getting very little manufacturer incentives we eliminated the RAV4 + the reviews were not all that exciting. The Escape had huge savings from Ford at the time, but we were having a hard time getting excited even though the Ford dealerships far exceeded our experience with Toyota or Mazda. Super high pressure tactics. On a whim we stopped in a VW dealership while away in a tripjust to have our first look. The walk around tire kicking raised our interest and so when we came home we went to a dealer for a test ride. The 3rd row seat got our high approval since we are doing grandparent duty with 4 of our grandkids- car seats etc. We like all the extras that came in the SE model - and then once I was behind the wheel I was sold. I had read the reviews on the acceleration issues but the test ride gave me the chance to eliminate that as a problem and frankly have been very happy with acceleration- handling and braking since bringing the car home. Finally a 6 year 72K mile warranty made the Tiguan our very best deal for a lease vehicle. What we can own the car at lease end and still have a 36K 3 year warranty on the vehicle if we love it as much at the end as we do so far.

This vehicle after they recalled it for the sunroof lighting issue had more sunroof issues than a little bit! I go outside it was cold out I got into the vehicle and notice Ice on all the windows, I turned the vehicle on and sat for 1/2 hour to defrost the windows only to notice that the windows weren't frozen from the outside but the inside. I took the vehicle back to vw they had it for a month! I got it back it rained outside but you would have thought that I left the sunroof open because the inside of the vehicle was soaked, this was after VW had the vehicle for a month! I took it back and they supposedly fixed the issue. This was my first and last VW I will never ever buy or recommend a Tiguan to anyone. I purchased the vehicle in 2017 it is a 2018 I got the lemon.

Bought the first car and two days later the engine light came on. Took it in and I was able to get a new one. 4 days later engine light turned on again. Haven’t made my first payment and been to the dealership 3 times already. The first car had under 100 miles and the second car had 5 miles.

Great car and value for the money, test drove the Honda CR-V and the Jeep cheerokee. The fuel economy is far better than stated and the car is very roomy with comfortable ride. The third row seat is a nice plus in a pinch. This car has double the warranty of any make or model big plus. Price was comparable to both Jeep and Honda camparably equipped.
