Used 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan Consumer Reviews
Awesome value
I was looking for a family car in the small SUV category. I was first swayed to this vehicle because of the optional third row seating. Once I started to look further into the features of the car, I was pleasantly surprised by the overall value. When you move up a level to the SE model you get upgraded tech and leatherette seating. My car is equipped with 3rd row seating & a panoramic sunroof. The only draw back is a slightly underwhelming engine/ transmission. The turbo takes a second to spool up off the line. I find it to have adequate power on the highway. Very low cabin noise and a smooth ride. If you combined the safety, tech and creature comforts you have an awesome car with a purchase price while below competitors with comparable features. Update 2/21/21 it’s been almost 2 years of ownership & 19k miles. We are very pleased with the suv overall. Smooth ride and nicely appointed. The only draw back is a slightly underwhelmed engine as the torque is not great off the line.

No Regrets
After two months of test driving CRV's, CX5's, Foresters repeatedly, I thought to try out the under-rated VW Tiguan and so glad I did. The other models mentioned were not bad cars, I was just not thrilled by lack-luster CV transmissions and the new CX-5 didn't feel like an upgrade from my 2016 model. So, here's the skinny on the VW: I don't understand the negative press this car has received. It's comfy, quiet, accelerates very well here in Colorado (turbos make more power altitude) and has different power settings to make the most of it's thrifty 2L turbo power-train. Eco speaks for itself for max efficiency and slow to respond throttle input. Normal feels normal and Sport mode kicks things up a notch with more immediate shifts and acceleration. In "normal" mode, I'm averaging near 30mpg and have seen 33+mpg on one 70 mile hwy trip. Cruise range should be excellent and come close to 500 miles but I cannot confirm that yet, it's a conservative estimate based on the car's computer. Also, all of the controls have a greater sense and feel of quality that's just a bit better than the competition. My SE comes with Android Auto and AWD and 3rd row seating but that's optional. One final note: Excellent stereo with XM, HD-FM tuner, CD player! Great graphics, touch controls and response. Pricing and 72K warranty sealed the deal for me.

2019 Tiguan SEL
I have three young children and this car is awesome. The third row seat works great for younger kids. I've had better than advertised or reviewed gas mileage in the city and on the highway. The performance is fine for what the vehicle is and family SUV. If you want to go fast and have super performance, why would you even consider this?

Not Bad for a Volkswagen
Let me start this review with the caveat that our driving experience with our new 2019 Tiguan SEL Premium 4Motion is compared with a current 2017 A4, and a 2011 Traverse of which the Tiguan replaced. I've also had a 1987 GLI so pretty familiar with German cars. And after 2K miles of 60% highway driving, we have been very impressed by the Tiguan. EXTERIOR - 4 The paint and finish is very nice (and should be since it's new!). The exterior lighting package is inclusive including headlights moves side to side based on the direction the car is turning. The premium package also included exterior mirrors that auto-fold in when car is locked. Only slight disappointment is that the fog lights are these dim, yellow halogen bulbs while the rest of the lights are LED which makes it weird at night. The front end is square but nice looking (very European), and the back reminds me a bit of its cousin the Q5, and the "distant" cousin the X5. And while the car does have dual exhaust, rather than working the tail pipes around to go through the dual exhaust housing built into the rear bumper, the pipes end just short of it and the "dual exhaust" openings are FAKE! (This is actually not that unusual as I've seen a couple of other brands do the same thing! Crazy!) INTERIOR - 5 The inside of this trim of Tiguan is probably the most impressive. The leather bucket seats are comfortable and fit the driver snugly. It's very nice leather and well made.It also has a very large moon roof when a motorized screen that works well to block the sun completely on a hot and bright sunny day. The instrument panel is a blast with a large touch screen that allows you to do just about anything you want short of ordering from Grub Hub...but can connect easily with your phone to do that. This trim also includes a digital cockpit that include both a tach and speed gauge as well as the usual water temp, battery, and fuel readings. What's cool about the cockpit is that you can "throw" the nav map from the touch screen onto the cockpit so the map is front and center in the cockpit screen. Only draw back for me inside is placement of the gear selector, cupholders, and center arm rest where the arm rest is placed further back than most people would like meaning drivers will rest on a small part of their elbow during a long trip. DRIVING - 3.5 The driving experience definitely was slightly lacking as most reviewers would agree. Granted I'm used to zipping around in an A4 with what I believe is one of the best 2.0T engines VW/Audi have built and tuned. (I've had four A4s so I know...) That said, while it doesn't jump off the line like my A4, the Tiguan 2.0 TSI engine does a decent job and as long as you're not trying to race someone, it is more than adequate in most driving situations. There is enough power to help you get around town and highway driving is quite nice. I do need to get used to the lane-assist feature that tries to nudge you back if it senses you drifting. No audible warning or vibrating steering wheels like some other brand, which drivers have reported to be annoying. The one thing we do have to get used to is the engine noise. During harder acceleration, it does tend to be lot noisier than the big V6 we had on the Traverse, but with the radio turned up a bit, it's not that noticeable. Nonetheless, it's the one thing aside from power that I don't like about the Tiguan. I'm actually thinking about exploring some additional sound-proofing of the engine compartment firewall. OVERALL - 4 The 2019 Tiguan is really a very nice option. Before we bought this, we seriously considered the Terrain Denali, and the Nissan Pathfinder. But with the more aggressive discounting at VW, and their now improved bumper-to-bumper warranty, it became an obvious choice for us. Oh, and the 3rd row seating that we got was a nice bonus even if used for emergency short-haul only. My recommendation...go buy one!

Agile roomy kinda fun
2019 VW Tiguan SE 4motion first of all I like VW vehicles they are in the fun side, driving is comfortable u put it in the sport mode and it does the best for what it is. Computer of the vehicle is very smart to know the driver habits and adopt right away. 4motion is very very good. Can the vehicle be a little better yes but I think that VW wanted fuel economy the fun and space. Engine it is in the slow side for 1st timer as soon u get used too never feels under power & yes 220 hp &260 torque would be lovely. 1 thing when u fill it up 5 passenger and wit stuff engine never feels like a cvt that struggles. Improvements are always welcome still for what it is design is good
