2025 Volkswagen Taos Consumer Reviews

Blue buzzer
Bought my Taos last April after the old car got hit. Overall it has been great in all types of conditions and traffic. All of the features work great and my mobile phone connects flawlessly to the radio. For a small suv it can really get up and go when needed. The only downside is the hesitation when accelerating from a stop. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants a small suv without the high price tag.

Really good except…
This is an enjoyable European feeling vehicle but there is a persistent rattle in the front passenger door, the wipers come on randomly when in the off position and aren’t as smooth as they should be.

Roomy, looks, gas mileage, value
Best is the space for a small suv that has style and gets me 37 mpg on the hwy. Negative is the ride is not as smooth as the VE Tiguan, but not a major issue.

Not Great (Or Not For Me)
I have a 2024 S, owned for about 1 year. I like the look, and there is good cargo and passenger space. The fuel economy has been surprisingly great, and I love that. Reliability -- no good. It soon spent months at the dealership waiting for a part to repair the flawed head gasket issue. Thankfully, warranty covered. The ride is close to being uncomfortably bumpy, although that seems to translate into a stable handling feeling. The road and wind noise was really disappointing, though. The rate of acceleration and deceleration seemed to take a long time to get used to also, and the shifting still seems lazy and unpredictable. I sometimes can't believe the electronics glitches. Like when you try to roll up your windows and they start rolling down instead. Or the entertainment screen freezes up and restarts. It makes for cheap and unsafe vibes. Also some weird design flaws. For example, the arm rest that extends a little over the cupholder. So I have to take my drink out of the front cupholder to access the drink behind it. Overall, living with this car has put a bad taste in my mouth, and I'm already looking for what I can trade it for. Bonus: While under repair, we were loaned an AWD model of the Taos. It handled great in the snow, but fuel economy was poor, and the jerkiness of its transmission was ridiculous.
