2024 Volkswagen Taos Consumer Reviews

VERY weird gear shifting/don't buy this car
This car feels a bit dangerous due to the gear shifting that is so bizarre and unresponsive to human input. You put on the gas and it putt-putts for 2 seconds then ZOOMS forward. Dangerous if trying to, say, turn from a red light. I have a young person learning to drive and would never let her use this car. I actually thought we had a lemon until reading all the reviews about that issue as well as many others we haven't encountered yet but probably will. Edmunds should change its rating

If you value your life, don't get this car.
This is possibly the worst car ever made in the history of cars. The engine shuts off at lights (no fix). The brakes wear very quickly. Replaced mine at 21k, and paid OUT OF POCKET because scammy VW is not willing to recall this serious and life threatening issue. They were at 2ml, when they are supposed to be 11ml. Just replaced the engine fan, and HEAD GASKET? Like, why is that even a thing?! Luckily those 2 things were under warranty. The video console blinks out when you are reversing. The car has no pick up and is no fun to drive. The only good thing about this car is the color.

Three words: HEAD GASKET ISSUES
This vehicle checked all the boxes we were looking for. And we were really enjoying it until the low coolant light came on at just 22,000 miles. Took it into the dealership, and sure enough, it has a bad head gasket just like the 2022 and 2023 year models did. It’s unfortunate to see Volkswagen quality going down. This is our third and final VW purchase. My 1988 Ford F150 (with original head gasket btw) shouldn’t be more reliable than a brand new vehicle. Buyer beware.
Nice little SUV but lacking basics
I bought the S (basic entry) model because of my budget. I had a horrible experience at the Deel dealership in Miami during the purchase of that car, but the car is not to blame for this. The good: great on gas, surprisingly big trunk for a small SUV, peppy (but still underpowered) engine. The bad: low quality rear view camera, no outside touch buttons on the doors for locking and unlocking, no built-in garage door opener in the rear view mirror and sluggish automatic transmission. The ugly: I haven’t encountered any yet but I read some very scary costumers’ reviews after I bought it about the engine cutting off, rear brake pads waring out very quickly and unreliable electronics, but so far haven’t encountered such issues and hope I don’t.

Best Compact SUV within the Budget
Have been driving the car for almost a month period of time. No issues observed. All good.
