Underrated Beauty

Vehicle performs better than I expected. Fuel consumption is above average; Japanese brands and smaller counterparts are overrated compared with this sedan.

I like Passat but Road and Wind noise more than it’s class competitors. Would Be better with double layer windows.

Luxury ride at two thirds the price!

Passat r is excellently appointed - after owning the car for almost 2 years I’m still exploring all the toys … The ride is most comfortable and the interior room expansive. The trunk is roomy enough for the soperanos to love it. Acceleration is a bit on the sluggish side but is something expected from a family sedan. Knock on wood- no defects have shown up to date Love the car!

Practical yet sporty

We bought the Passat SE when we were looking at fuel efficient vehicles. I had 2 early 2000's Jettas, and they were a lot of fun to drive but riddled with problems. We gave this a chance, and I hoped it would be a fun car. We've had it a little over a year and it has had zero mechanical issues. It's not the most fun drive, maybe all the newer technology is taking away from the feeling. It is however the most attractive in it's class with the cool rims, sunroof and not overly cluttered dash. It has a lot of safety features so you do feel really safe, but some of them are so jolting that it gives you more anxiety than fixing the problem on your own. I definitely prefer the safety features on my Bronco Sport of the same year. The steering is very loose on the Passat, it has great turning radius and pretty good get up and go, it does dump rpms going around turns, and I do remember my Jettas doing this. The back seat and trunk are plenty roomy. It's great for a small family and the pleather type material is very easy to wipe down. The Passat is certainly a very practical yet sporty looking car.

Love my Dinky Diesel

A real secret that nobody knows. VW is releasing "fixed" TDI VW's. Passat is included. The market is not very strong. People think that they are no good, so they pay $5k-6K more for a used Accord. Ok, I bought a 122k miles TDI at a great price. Drove it 250 miles on a trip @ 70 mph and got 45mpg! I drive it 300 miles to and from work each week, and fill it up every other week. That's $140 a month. Do you get the picture? I'm 6'6" and still have a huge back seat. Huge trunk and a truly beautiful car. Find one - get one - and truly enjoy driving a TDI Passat.
