Toyots Shafts thosuands of used auto buyers

I purchase this 2007 Tundra approximately 1 year ago. The truck was in very good condition, seemed to run well, and only had 43000 miles on it. I believed that I would have several years of relatively maintenance free driving. At about the 14 month period all of the idiot lights came on several of which start flashing, and the truck went into ( What I now know ) is considered "Limp Mode" This is where the computer only allows the vehicle to go so fast in an effort to protect the engine of damage. I drove the truck to the Toyota dealer, where the mechanic indicated that there were four components of an air-pump system ( Part of the emissions control system), two of which had failed. He indicated that Toyota new the components were junk and had extended the warranty for 10 years or 150000 miles. This would probably be a saving grace for most owners who owned vehicles that had been driven enough miles for the parts to fail; however those that had not, or those that have recently purchased a low mileage, 2007, are out of luck. Repair cost to date just shy of 2300.00 Do not buy a Toyots vehicle between the years of 2007, and 2011 regardless of how cheap it is being sold.

Love the style, look and (when it's right) performance of this truck. I work out of state and put tons of miles on my vehicle, as well as drive it off road quite a bit, making 4wd drive a necessity. After returning from a trip, my 4wd locked up in 4 low - I took it to my local Toyota Dealer who informed me that this is a known problem if you drive your 4wd Tundra anywhere it is wet or cold - this was corroborated by several of the other techs at the Toyota dealership. I contacted Toyota and they said that although there is a known problem, it's not covered under the warranty. $2400 later, my 4wd works, but we've learned our lesson. This model just isn't right.

I've driven my Tundra thousands of miles, towed a trailer across the US, and generally been very happy with this truck. I would definitely buy it again. This review is actually for the 5.7 V8 engine, not the 4.7L engine. Lots of torque, good pulling power. The 2007 truck as well as its later brothers excels at pulling, but has a wimpy payload compared to other 1/2 ton trucks. If you want to mount a camper in the bed, you'll need to beef up the springs and rear suspension with an after-market supplier. Comfort and amenities in the 2007 were good -- nothing spectacular. The brake controller and rearview camera were add-ons, something that Toyota has now addressed in the new models, but essential if you plan to tow anything larger than a small fishing boat. Adjustable drivers seat and heating/cooling system work admirably well. When I traded this truck, it was still in great condition, and had no mechanical issues.

I have a 2007 Tundra, their is a Technical Service Bulletin (T-SB-0101_12 they know these trucks rust in particular areas. Regardless of age they know it rusts faster than normal. I have had topper on my truck as long as I had it and it rusted from bottom to bed surface. I am not talking about small areas but large areas 4-6" circles with. Very very sad!

One Big Bad, but Civilized, Truck

2007 Toyota Tundra Limited 4dr Double Cab SB (4.7L 8cyl 5A)

I just picked up my 2007 Toyota Tundra 4.7L Limited Edition 4X4 Double Cab With TRD Off Road Package. Ths is the first full sized truck and 4X4 I have ever owned. It is huge, really comparable to the Dodge Rams I use at work, maybe even bigger. Anyways, I got the Limited, and the ride is so quiet and smooth inside the cabin. The suspension soaks up all road irregularities. The JBL sound system with Bluetooth phone capabilities works flawlessly. There are enough cup holders in this truck to hold probably a case of soda! A lot of indoor storage space, with 2 glove compartments. My leather seats are so soft and comfortable. I love this truck. This is one fantastic truck that I would recommend to anyone who wants a full sized truck.
