Used 2006 Toyota Tacoma Consumer Reviews
Avoid Toyota!!
Shifting shudder and large clunk when stopping and starting "just part of the design" per Toyota. See http://www.tundrasolutions.com/forums/tacoma/66233-toyota-addresses-tacoma-transmission/ for other reports. Toyota quality and customer service terrible! Also, according to Toyota, it is acceptable for their dealers to put used tires on a new truck when the dealer is unable to fix another customer's tire balance problem. Whatever you do, don't make the mistake of buying a Toyota!! You will not get what you pay for -- you'll only hear that your problems are "design features".

What a difference!!
I have owned my 06 Tacoma for a nearly 3 weeks now and absolutely love it. The truck is the perfect size and the design is awesome. On of my friends bought a newer Silverado and I was amazed that the Tacoma was just as tall and long, STOCK! It rides much better than my old Dakota and is definitely more solid. I have no complaints with this truck!!
SWEET TRUCK
My first Toyota ever. So far so good. I love the muscular look of the exterior. The interior is very nice, it looks like you are driving a camry or something. I got the TRD off road package and I am taking in off road and it is so much FUN. The six speed manual transmission is cool to drive. Although the clutch is little loud when I am changing gears. Over all the truck has really good handling. The truck is definitely little more expensive than the competitors on the market, but you are getting a great truck that will last you for a very long time and toyota's reliability.
2006 Tacoma 4x4 2.7L
I drive 50-60K per yr and needed 4x4 truck so went with the Tacoma Access Cab 4cyl 5 sp man. I've been completely satisfied. After >10K mi I'm getting 24.8 mpg on 89 Oct fuel. While I haven't been in any serious mud, the 4 wheel drive has moved vehicle well through mud, even with OE tires. Manual trans was a little stiff, but has smoothed out with mi. I don't pull any heavy loads, only 14' fishing boat, and haven't had any problem with 4cyl making hwy speeds and hills. I'm 6'3" and there is plenty of room in cab for cooler, brief case, etc. Changing oil and greasing u-joints is easy. I've installed tool box in bed and hidden hitch. Good luck to us all.
