I almost opted for the hatchback because the V MPG rating is not as good, and I could get 0% financing. So glad I went for it because driving to/from work (17 mi each way) in Houston rush hour traffic, I'm averaging around 50 mpg! The temp has been in the 60-70's, so have been using the ac. When it gets colder, the mpg might not be as good, since the engine will have to run more to keep me warm. I have a Five w/out Advanced Tech Package. I love everything about it, except so far, I can't get Entunes to work--have an I-phone. Not a big deal, except I hate not being able to use something I paid for. I chose the Five because I did not want cloth seats. So far, I'm pleased.

Prius v exceeds my expectations

Based on the pre release reviews I was hesitant about buying a Prius v. It interested me because I was looking for a fuel efficient car that my husband and I could use for road trips in retirement. I needed to be able to fit two road bikes, preferably without disassembly, two suitcases, and a cooler. The dealer wisely let me keep the car over a weekend while I was making up my mind. All the above fit beautifully. The dog may have to stay at the kennel, though, if we take the bikes. I have been driving the car since Oct. 29 and find myself happier with it every day that I drive it. I am getting 41.8 mpg mixed driving. I am not a hyper miler and drive to blend with traffic.

It was great until the brakes stopped working

We had our Prius V for seven years and loved it. That changed when we were backing out of a parking space and we suddenly had no brakes at all. We rolled down a hill and were stopped about three feet from a busy highway by a small tree. Wound up being totaled by the insurance company. Subsequent research showed sudden brake loss is a fairly common occurrence that Toyota refuses to do anything about. Great car until it almost kills you.

Hurricane Sandy brought us together!! I love my Prius V5

I'm a previous owner of a Prius. Sadly, it was a victim of Hurricane Sandy as it succumbed to the flood waters of the might Hudson River. Left with no choice and a bus pass, I went back to my dealership and was set on getting the same Prius model. To my surprise, the Prius V5 was not that much bigger in length but even more surprised on how much room it had inside. It was significant, especially the trunk space. I love that it's a true hybrid in every way. Part car, part mini SUV, part wagon, and part mini van. I just love how it drives and of course the mileage.

My first new car, all dealer maint - DISAPPOINTED

We bought this car brand new from the dealer and have had all the maintenance done there. From the start it made a squeaking noise when it was cold and starting. It took MANY times until they finally upgraded the brakes (when they were almost due anyway) and that fixed it. The car is now at 136K. Around 120K, 6 months ago the car suddenly started using a lot of oil - like 1 qt per 1,000 miles. Took to dealer and told them this, they said that is a normal consumption rate!? And that they had never heard of Prius oil consumption issue. Really?! just google it. They wanted an oil consumption test - OK did that. Surprise the dealer said "Good news" it didn't use any oil in 1,000 miles. No not good news because it is!! So 3 months later, still consuming oil, and I have kept records and NOW the oil light has gone on. Dealer wants ANOTHER oil consumption test - oil light just comes on because the oil was low. Bottom line, Toyota does NOT stand by their car, they are not helping me figure out what is wrong with this car and now I have a car I cannot rely upon!
