Used 2018 Toyota Highlander Hybrid Consumer Reviews
Still great after 3 years.
Initial impression: Overall a great vehicle. Navigation seems pointless as Google Maps on my iPhone does a better job. Sunroof controls a bit clunky. Not a big fan of the power lift-gate. I'd rather it be manual (possibly power assist). Hard to rate many categories as we have only owned it for a month. Love the fuel economy. 3-year update: Still great vehicle. love the room. Mileage 28 - 30 MPG in summer. less in winter. Plan to keep another 7 years, at least. Don't drive it a ton as our daily driver is full electric. 2.5 years later. Use has shifted mainly to highway as we bought an EV for driving within 40 miles of home. Still love the vehicle. Great fuel economy (27 - 29mpg hwy). Would still rather use my phone than the on board infotainment system. Power lift gate still annoys me.

Fun and spunky SUV with great MPG!
Has the get up and go but also is so quiet and just glides at times. Fun to drive and incredibly comfortable. I have only had it for 1 week so still a lot to learn about it but so far I am very happy with the MPG I am getting (which is why I bought a hybrid).

Pointers for Toyota
The location of usb ports and charging ports is inconvenient. Toyota should consider teaming with a navigation software supplier as the iPhone navigation works better than the car's. I would prefer a passenger front seat that includes lumbar support.
for the money, mediocre user experience
3rd row seats are useless. Nobody except a tiny child can climb in; and they are uncomfortable. 2nd row seats are adequate., but not great. Cargo room is not that great--the 4Runner has more; even the Hyundai Elantra had almost as much, and it is a compact. Power rear door life is annoyingly slow. Sun visors are cheapo--they do not swivel to adjust angle; and there is no option to have both side and front visors, like on some lesser-priced cars. Heated steering wheel heats everywhere except the 10 and 2 position: WTF? Warranty is a joke--3 years/36,000 miles. Nowadays cars have 10/100,000. The information display has so many redundant screens and so little customizing. You could get into a crash trying to read the dumb thing with all the useless info. The special Eco display app is meaningless--have no idea what it means. Entune is a rip-off; you can do all the same things without paying the subscription fee. The emergency assist is only available after the 1st year with a subscription; again, below current industry standards which provide lifetime without a fee. Navigation is less intuitive than other makes of cars I've driven. I'm a 40-year Toyota owner; but this might be my last Toyota.
