Used 1991 Toyota Celica Consumer Reviews
More HP
I recently purchased this vehicle... it's my first car. I am very happy with most of the qualities of this car except for one. I am really disappointed in the standard engine of this model because of lack of horsepower and torque. I live where I commute across a bridge and go up steep hills and the lack of horsepower and tourque makes me feel like I sometimes won't make it up. I thought about tuning it up but when i realized there was only 103 hp and 102 ft. lbs. of tourque i decided it wasn't worth it. Otherwise this a great car with great gas mielage.
Fun & reliable, but weak
I bought my ST from a Toyota mechanic who rebuilt the engine at 172k miles. At 231k the engine still runs flawlessly, but peripheral systems are falling like dominoes. It's been a very reliable car until this summer. Corners great although turning radius is a little wide for this size of a vehicle. I love taking 25 mph corners at 55-60 mph! Low power, ~36 mpg.

With 305,000 miles -it's going strong!
This little white car just won't quit although it has lost its a/c, power steering and sun roof. When I think about buying a new Toyota (recently), it performs better! I commuted 110 miles a day for 6 years and now it's getting a deserved rest with my new local job. Bought it new in Dec 1990. Can't say enough about my little friend - just hate to part with it and may never! Should be bronzed and placed in the dealership window!
Will always buy Toyota
Bought this car without thinking twice with 165000 miles on it and haven't regretted it yet. Now with 212000 miles on it, original motor and transmission, running strong.
Love this car!
This car is incredible. I bought it from my aunt as my first car and she's given me no trouble at all (the car not my aunt). Gotta love the 5 speed and she's got some decent speed and great handling. 188,000 miles and still runnin strong. Minor flaws such as a cupholder that gets in the way of shifting and a crappy electric radio antenna. But nothing we can't live without. I love her dearly.
