First time buying a Toyota

Drove multiple Toyotas and was sold quickly after driving the 2018 SE Camry. Handles well, easy to use functions, and looks sharp.

Be VERY CAREFUL before buying this car... NO CD available... Navigation system STINKS... NO leather... You MUST pair your cell phone to this car if you want to listen to something other than radio, or if you want to use the navigation system with a map... If you don't have a cell phone or don't want one, YOU WILL HAVE TO BUY ONE... The seats are now SYNTHETIC LEATHER... If you don't know what SYNTHETIC LEATHER is folks, IT'S VINYL...

Well, I owned this car for 3 months and 1100 miles. I bought it new and took an absolute bath returning it to the dealer. $30k new $18k highest trade in value at 14, yes 14 different lots. Great resale Toyota 🙄. So, the final straw was the day it nearly got my daughter and I killed on the way to school. Google 18 Camry lagging transmission. It’s a real thing. It would take sometimes between 1-3 seconds, NOT KIDDING, to start moving forward when the gas was depressed. 3x in the first month Toyota had it and claimed “well, that’s how they all drive”.... Swell, so I pulled out into traffic on the way to school and it decided to take 3 seconds or more as a Trash truck careened into another lane to avoid killing us. A truck doing 45-50 mph travels a good distance in 3-4 seconds, the time i should have safely passed in front of and gone on my merry way. Not the case! On top of that, my safety systems never worked. I’d get a red message saying they were deactivated due to a dirty sensor. Well, I cleaned that sensor so good, the Pope himself would have eaten off of it. No dice. The “adaptive” cruise control doesn’t work in the rain. Nice touch Toyota 👍🏻. Lastly, atleast the last thing I will complain about because you get the drift, is Entune. Entune is a complete and total abomination!!! I bought a $30k car in 2018 that essentially has an AM/FM Radio. Wow. Thanks Toyota. I’ve moved to a Mazda CX-5 and this thing is light years ahead of that Camry in every measurable category. Goodbye Toyota. When my wife’s 18 Highlander lease is up, we will never own another Toyota.

I was very excited for this vehicle and I have mostly loved this vehicle up until about two weeks ago.. I have had some issues with the car taking extra time to accelerate, and a few other issues like my phone not connecting to bluetooth or my contact pictures showing up for the wrong people when I make calls from my favorites list. I considered these issues minor because I love the look of the car, it mostly drives smoothly, and it is great on gas. However, about two weeks ago I headed up to the dealership for a routine vehicle service and on the way up there one of my tires burst! Mind you, I bought this car brand new near the end of August and this was in October. The dealership kept telling me it was my fault, and that I had hit something which caused the tire to burst. Then, they told me one of my other tires was close to bursting too, even though I clearly had not hit something on that one either! $570.00 later, I had two brand new tires on my brand new car and my alignment fixed (somehow was messed up when the tire burst?). When I told my husband what happened at the dealership, he spoke with one of his friends who bought the same model Camry from the same dealership and one of his tires had burst a few weeks before as well! I really want to love this car, but this situation is ridiculous to me. I had only owned used cars before this vehicle, and I never had any issues like this with any other car..

My only disappointment is that Sirius/XM is not part of the standard radio. I had to purchase a Xm radio. I understand that in order to have XM, you must purchase a V-6 or order a 4 cyl with the XM radio as an option....very expensive.
