Used 2017 Toyota 4Runner Consumer Reviews
4 YEAR FINAL REVIEW of 2017 TRD PRO OFF ROAD
Coming up to 1 year ownership and I could not be more happy with my 4Runner. Coming off of a Land Rover I Love the reliability aspect of the 4Runner (the Rover was a continuous rash of issues...). Made a bunch of mods on this truck and a few more to go - but that’s part of the appeal...you can make it unique and one of a kind! Think Wrangler BUT dependable! Update: Owned now for about 1.5 years - it’s been flawless! Have been doing various mods on it which further enhances the vehicle. 100% satisfied with this truck! THREE years already! Still love my rig as much as the day I bought it. Zero issues as expected ******************************************************************************************* FOUR year review 39,000 miles and still in love with this truck. Guess this could be my forever vehicle after all ! Only thing that was an issue was the hood release -- needed to be replaced due to it not functioning correctly. Extremely glad I decided on this vehicle as opposed to a jeep - its a very reliable and attractive ride! Interested to see the next generation but i doubt very much that i will trade up ... why? ***FINAL REVIEW *** I have just traded in my 4runner (for a 2021 Tundra). Final thoughts are these: 1) what a great looking reliable truck (i have owned luxury vehicles including benz, bmw, land rover and this vehicle got more looks and comments than all the others 2) one minor issue in the 4.5 years of ownership (hood release mechanism failed) 3) the invoice price in 2017 was $40,500 and I received on paper $37,000 for the trade in - unbelievably great resale. Basically after tax savings on the trade i was at initial purchase price! Tell me another car manufacture that can show me that... 4) great all around vehicle - fun to drive Summary: I would do this vehicle again over and over. I just needed a bigger truck to do occasional hauling otherwise i would still have. LOVED IT

Why a mechanical fan
I love this truck. comfirble ride on and off the road my only gripe is the stock mechanical radiator fan which robes you horsepower , mpg , sluggish take off and cooling at a stop. there is a reason 95% of new vehicles come with electric fan. it is a easy fix to swap the fan out and i suggest you do so if you want a better ride all around.

Nice Toyota
Great vehicle. Not too big, not too small, but Jusssst right. One thing I was looking for that Toyota doesn't offer in this vehicle is the Front Collision Avoidance System. It's standard on so many Toyota's but not available on the 4Runner. Also wish it was Made in USA, but at least the build quality is great since all 4Runners are made in Japan.

Limited 4dr SUV 4WD (4.0L 6cyl 5A)
Good all-around vehicle. I just got back from a 5200 mile round trip pulling a 2010 Trailmanor model 2027. (3000 lbs.) One long grade trucks were doing 45-50 mph and my 4-runner pass them at 65-70mph with power to spare. On the flat lands of Wyoming the vehicle ran smooth at 80-85mph pulling the trailer. The Navigation control is a waste in my book, to complicated to use, weather reports require using app on your cell phone via Bluetooth. I Navigated to a Subway Restaurant that said it was 30 miles away and it turned out to be 60 miles, I solved navigation problems in the future by mounting my Garmin on the dash. My Motor home had weather built into the radio and for the price I paid for the Toyota you would think they would have a better system. The Toyota has NO cargo light in the back when you open the rear door. On my trip I was always looking for a flash light at night to get things out of the back. Front seats have small holes in them to allow for heating and cooling of the front seats. The small holes get clogged easily if something is spilled on them by mistake and very hard to clean. I wish that there had been a V8 available as an option because I am planning on selling my trailer and moving up to one that has a dry weight of 4100 lbs. The 4-Runner has a maximum tow rating of 5000 lbs. I may have to trade it in for another vehicle with a V8, maybe the Sequoia or Tundra because they have the optional V8 and towing rating over 7000 lbs. This is my second 4-Runner Limited, my 2010 had a rear locker on it that I don't have on the this one. It was able to pull Jeeps and Fords out of heavy clay mud without getting stuck. I even once pulling a bobcat (small tractor) up a muddy hill where it could not get traction.
The Real Deal
This is a truck based, body on frame, heavy duty suspension, ultra strong vehicle. This is NOT a crossover built in a cars frame. You dont have to be an offroader to get this vehicle. So long as you hate potholes, speed bumps, like to go camping, fishing, and anything that takes you away from the pavement...this is your vehicle. I would recommend keeping or getting a 4 banger for the garbage miles ex. Work commute. You'll save on the long run in gas, oil changes, tires and value retention on your 4Runner. 4Runner is on par with Tacoma in resale value.
